2001 – WCW officially goes out of business, bought by Vince McMahon, this was the final Monday Night War, & it saw WWF Monday Night Raw defeated WCW Monday Nitro: 4.7 to 3.0 in the ratings

2007 – WWE released Joey Mercury.  He’d eventually return to the company as a wrestler & a trainer for their developmental territory

2007 – Team 3D announced the formation of their wrestling school in Florida, which would develop Jesse Neal, Jesse Sorensen, Rosie Lottalove, & several others talents to date


In 1994, ECW held Ultimate Jeopardy at the Valley Forge Music Center in Devon, Pennsylvania:

– Crash the Terminator (Bill DeMott) defeated The Pitbull
– 911 defeated Don E. Allen, Blue Mask (Chad Austin) & Hack Myers in a handicap match
– ECW Television Champion J.T. Smith defeated Rockin’ Rebel
– The Bruise Brothers (Ron and Don) defeated Badd Company (Paul Diamond & Pat Tanaka)
– Tommy Cairo defeated The Sandman
– Jimmy Snuka defeated Tommy Dreamer in a steel cage match
– Shane Douglas, Mr. Hughes, & The Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge & Rocco Rock) defeated ECW Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk, Road Warrior Hawk, Kevin Sullivan & The Tazmaniac in a War Games match, when Douglas pinned Funk after suffocating him with a plastic bag. Due to pre-match stipulations, Douglas won the title

In 2001, the last ever WCW Nitro aired. The event was dubbed ‘Night of Champions’ & was held in Panama City, Florida:

– Booker T defeated Scott Steiner (with Midajah) to win the WCW World Title & retain the WCW United States Title
– The Filthy Animals (Rey Mysterio Jr. & Billy Kidman) defeated 3 Count (Shannon Moore & Evan Karagias), &  Jung Dragons (Yun Yang & Kaz Hayashi) in a 3-way match to become the #1 contenders for the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles
– Shane Helms defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title
– The Natural Born Thrillers (Sean O’Haire & Chuck Palumbo) defeated Team Canada (Mike Awesome & Lance Storm) to retain the WCW Tag Team Titles
– Shawn Stasiak (with Ms. Hancock) defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in a “The Loser Gets A Tattoo Match”
– The Filthy Animals (Rey Misterio Jr & Billy Kidman) defeated Elix Skipper & Kid Romeo to win the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles
– Sting defeated Ric Flair in the last ever WCW match

In 2005, NJPW Nexess V was held in Tokyo, Japan:

– Hirooki Goto defeated Hiroyuki Ito to win the Young Lions Cup
– Ron Waterman & Minoru Suzuki defeated Kensuke Sasaki & Takashi Iizuka
– Tsuyoshi Kosaka defeated Yuji Nagata by TKO

1978 – Baron von Raschke defeated Johnny Weaver to win the NWA Television Title

1978 – Jack Brisco defeated Bob Roop to win the NWA Florida Heavyweight Title  in Orlando, Florida
