See you on Monday?

cm punk

– As noted earlier, Dave Meltzer said on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that CM Punk is expected to be at Monday’s RAW from Chicago. Meltzer wouldn’t say he’s 100% sure Punk will be there and really didn’t sound too sure of it but his source, who is reportedly a top WWE star, said it’s 100% certain.

Regarding plans for WrestleMania XXX, if Punk does return at RAW he will either replace Daniel Bryan in the match with Triple H or go into the WWE World Heavyweight Title match with Batista and Randy Orton. Punk likely isn’t winning the title unless he plans on signing a new contract in July and that impression wasn’t given.

Better return! That pop would be insane! As for titles, Bryan deserves it more

  2. Dragon says:

If punk gets his main even mania shot due to throwing in a sense a tantrum.(if it wasn’t a work)
It undermines the entire wwe. Corporate and talent alike. If that is how it works I’ve lost any and all respect past and present for punk. While other workers job an entire career to get a few title shots punk acts like a punk and gets what he wants.

  3. James says:

    @ Dragon

You probably shouldn’t have respect for Austin as well.

  4. Helio says:

@Dragon – doesn’t WWE undermine itself by pushing Cena, Orton, and Shamus and holding down fan favorites like Dolph Ziggler and Zach Ryder? There really isn’t much of a standard to subvert.

  5. Kyle says:

Austin didn’t walk out for a title match. Not saying I agree with the fact that Austin walked but he had good reason. Like I think punk had good reason. I don’t think punk should get the title match in the slightest, I think that should go to Bryan. But I’d like to see punk come back.

  6. Wes says:

    @Dragon

I don’t understand the point you are trying to make. You know how many wrestlers were given the title to resign? Countless. Benoit, Hogan, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk, and countless others.

Besides, they did this with Punk before when he resigned.

  7. LOL says:

Meh…..Bryan deserves that main event spot.

  8. Stunning Steve says:

I hear talk of respect. Personally, I am not sure why anyone would respect Austin at this point anyway. My respect for Austin was lost when I found out he likes to beat on his wives and girlfriends. I was always entertained by him in the ring, but that doesn’t mean you have to respect a person. From all I have heard, CM Punk is a douche, but I enjoy watching that douchebag in the ring.

  9. Dragon says:

This is what I love when the smarks and the marks can’t agree.

@helio. Wwe isn’t a wraslin company anymore. It’s a business. If you haven’t noticed it doesn’t mean crap how good you are it all comes down to how much your worth. So no wwe doesn’t undermine itself when it’s doing what makes them the most money. While a smart fan knows that the likes of Ziggler and others alike are what deserves the top spots. Wwe is more concerned what the sheep want and feeds them.

Cm punk wasn’t huge when he got to wwe. A lot of his current marks had no clue who he was. But his Indy style and his charisma got him to the top.

Daniel has made that same mark of being able to wrestle and get the crowd. He’s earned his spot. He overcame it all just like punk. So for punk to come steal it is a foul in all forms.

    @wes
It’s one thing when the company makes an offer to get you to sign.
It’s different when you make what feels like a hostage situation by leaving and making an entire company and fan base focus on you.

Punk has become a complet hypocrite

  10. Randy says:

I really think it was a planted news story by the WWE in hopes of getting the crowd not to chant for Punk because of the anticipation that he will show up.

  11. Helio says:

@Dragon – Yes, WWE is business, so why ignore chants and confiscate signs. A good business should listen to the chants and read the signs.

Secondly, being a business, why be concerned with how “other workers job an entire career to get a few title shots.”?

In that case, if Punk is available, a good business should utilize him in a whatever manner draws most money. Main Event, title shot whatever.

Didn’t you just undermine your first post? :-)

  12. T says:

I’ll believe it when I see it.

As far as how much one is worth goes then why are Bootista and Orton main eventing WrestleMania? Why are the NAO on TV? Why does HHH think people tune in to see him talk and think people will pay good money to see him wrestle at Mania?

From what I understand Punk walking away was not just for him but the younger guys that are being held back by a bunch of old dinosaurs that can’t let go.

  13. Dragon says:

Punks situation undermines wwe in the sense that they show that one individual can pull the strings.

As far as top draw capability. Firstly mania is set between sponsors and what they’ve sold there is only so much left to make as far as whatever seats aren’t sold and a fair amour of those will sell to people waiting till the last minute. They could throw Eugene in that third spot and the numbers wouldn’t shift much. Secondly if it were to come down to current draw ability Daniel Bryan would rank higher simply due to the fans being more behind him than anything and feeling he’s been screwed for months. Where as punk has had a successful title run and has had much less interaction with the title.
My first point covers why the abortion of Batista vs orton could be billed and sticks. In wrestling you want someone gone you no sell them. Even a boo just mean ohh make him a heel. Tada Hes over.

And as far as the take signs why care about jobbers whatever he said

Half most of these guys careers are usually in the indies. It’s a pecking order there. The new guy gets initiated in the sense of a frat. You show respect you get it back which helps your career. You act a fool you get stiffed and no sold so you have nothing to send wwe and little to no exposure. So yeah jobbers become stars. Just cause they didn’t job in wwe doesn’t mean it never happened.

The only exceptions seem to be the offspring of wrestlers orton, Rock. even they pay some dues but they seem to sneak under the radar.

  14. My F Opinion says:

I liked Punk when he was having great matches with John Morrison, Jeff Hardy. WWE did some good things with him up until 2011 but it was that pipebomb and everything that followed that kept me watching what otherwise was a failing product, The Rock returned previous to it but just made a few appearences and went nobody on the active weekly roster had anything interesting back then Punk saved it for me.

I always seen that he was quality as long as he has been in WWE never seen him in RoH until later on YouTube. Liked those matches & promos too.

I stopped watching wrestling all together in 04 started again in 06-07 after seeing some ECW One Night Stand stuff from 05 & 06.

This whole thing about seeing somebody when they started is stupid. What difference does it make if some people did not know who CM Punk was before he came to WWE’s ECW? Everybody has to start somewhere.

  15. My F Opinion says:

Tell Tera Ryzing that he sucks too such a WCW flop. Nothing ever became of him huh? How about Isaac Yankem? Or that great SkyScraper Mean Mark Callous…..

    Nobody knew these guys either…

  16. deathedge says:

I think it’d be bull for him to get a title shot after this. That’s like if you were put in time out during recess at pre-school, but then threw a tantrum and the teacher lets you out.

This goes beyond what Austin did. This goes beyond WWE giving him the belt so he will resign. This is WWE caving into a 5 year old’s temper tantrum.

That is, of course assuming this wasn’t all a work to begin with, as well as assuming this report is true.

Either way, find me ONE CM Punk chant that rivals the “Yes!” chants D-Bry has been getting.

  17. T says:

I still don’t get how Punk is undermining anything. Hogan, The Kliq…etc did the same and the WWE’s rep is not ruined as a direct result.

Yes, the seats and sponsors are a done deal for WrestleMania but you forget that any bad PR as a result from WrestleMania hurts the WWE. Does Vince want mainstream media saying WM30 sucked? Does Vince want a low buyrate for WM? Does he want to deal with an unhappy crowd at RAW the next night?

If the fans were smart they would cease to buy any product that sponsors the WWE if they feel that strongly.

  18. Jim says:

If he replaced bryan he was jealous and is a hypocrite
