OVW TV Episode 757 Recap
by Jimmie Daniel
This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 757 that will be aired in Louisville on 2/22 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/757
As was the case last week, we begin with a clip from the 2/1 Saturday Night Special from a match with Flash Flanagan and OUR OVW Director of Operations Trailer Park Trash taking on the Marauders. Flash slams “Unmasked Marauder” Tony Gunn on the mat then TPT comes off the top with a legdrop for a cover but the other four Marauders (Shiloh Jonze, Raul Lamotta, Nick Dumeyer, & Clint Poe) attack Flash and TPT. Jonze whacks Flash with a kendo stick and Poe does the same to TPT.
We then see a clip from last week’s show where the Marauders again attack Flash and TPT. Gunn proclaims that they are the Marauders and they will do what they want, when they want, etc. Of course this is all to remind us of the “Kendo Sticks on a Pole” match between the Marauders and Flash/TPT at the OVW live event on 2/22 in Elizabethtown, KY.
After the show opening, we join OUR OVW Announce Team of Dean Hill, Gilbert Corsey, and Michael Titus (still in the neck brace). Shannon the Dude is OUR OVW Ring Announcer. We will see Body Guy take on Ryan Howe plus get two more matches announced for the 3/1 Saturday Night Special. We will also get an update on Michael (not PS) Hayes.
Match #1: “Primetime” Robbie Walker vs OUR OVW Champion “Strongest Gamer Alive” Marcus Anthony (w/”Career Killer” Timmy Danger)
Gilbert notes the influx of new talent into OVW adding that Walker is a graduate of OVW’s training school. Josh Ashcraft is OUR OVW official for this match. Walker ducks a lariat but his pair of dropkicks has no effect on Anthony. Walker comes off with a crossbody but Anthony catches and powerslams him. Danger prods Anthony to lock in the full nelson/”Crimson Omen” and gets his wish as Anthony clamps it on and slings Walker to and fro as Ashcraft calls for the bell.
Anthony keeps the hold clinched in until Jamin Olivencia runs out and hits him in the back with chair. Anthony turns and charges at Jamin, who sidesteps and causes Anthony to go tumbling through the ropes and out to the floor. Danger has to hold Anthony back from going after Jamin.
Match #2: Adam Revolver vs “White Kryptonite” Eddie Diamond
OUR OVW Senior Official “Package” Chris Sharpe is in charge here as the two trade armworking to start. Diamond shoots Revolver into the corner then lariats him and calls for the Soulja Boy Elbow but Revolver rolls out of the ring. Diamond follows and after ducking a punch, rolls Revolver back in. Diamond climbs up top but gets crotched as Revolver shoves him and covers him for 2. Revolver beats on Diamond a bit and waistlocks him on the mat but Diamond gets to his feet and elbows free. Revolver kneelifts and whips Diamond into the corner before attempting a Boston crab. Diamond scoots to the ropes before he kicks Revolver away. Revolver then goes for a figure four but Diamond flips him over into a small package for 2. Revolver misses a splash and Diamond does a tenpunch and climbs back up to, fighting off Revolver. Diamond does the Soulja Boy Elbow from the top rope for the pin!
They show a crowd shot with a guy tossing up popcorn but is unable to catch it in his mouth. He is identified as Pat McAfee, the punter for the Indianapolis Colts, who has dropped by the Davis Arena. (Hopefully, I will be able to drop by at some point.)
Match #3: The Body Guy vs “Wrestling’s Rockstar” Ryan Howe
Shannon the Dude introduces Body Guy at weighing over 300 pounds! Jordan Barker is OUR OVW official for this match. Body Guy graces us with a brief Robe Removal Ritual before Howe comes out playing a guitar, which Dean identifies as a Gibson SG (the song sounded familiar). Howe hands the guitar to Dean, enters the ring, and gets attacked. Body Guy grabs a chinlock and pulls Howe down to the mat while twisting his head. Howe throws some forearms to get free then gives Body Guy an atomic drop and mockingly swivels his hips. Body Guy rolls out thus missing a Howe doublestomp then is able to snap him across the top rope. Body Guy climbs up top but misses on a double axehandle and Howe grabs the arm and locks in his standing armbar submission, forcing Body Guy to tap out.
In the back, Sharpe is examining Jessie Belle’s left leg which has a brace on the knee. She says she was walking out of the gym when a masked person appeared, hit her knee with a baton, and ran away. She has papers from a doctor clearing her to wrestle and Sharpe agrees with this. She also mentions a number one contenders match for the OVW Ladies Championship currently held by Lei’d Tapa that will be held later. Jessie is concerned about another attack from the masked person and Sharpe says he will round up some extra security.
After the break, it is announced that at SNS, Jessie Belle will get a title shot against Tapa.
Match #4: Jay Best vs OUR OVW TV Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
Joe Wheeler is OUR OVW Official for this match. Best poses and the crowd is not impressed but Melvin does and they are! Melvin shoves Best into the ropes as Gilbert reminds us of the $1000 per TV title defense deal meaning Melvin should have accumulated some cash by now. Gilbert also notes that Best earned this title shot via success at OVW live events! Anyway, Best just bounces off Melvin a couple of times then comes off the ropes a third time right into a Melvin bearhug and maybe the quickest submission ever!
Body Guy comes out and complains but is drowned out by a “you tapped out” chant. He says he taught Melvin everything Melvin knows but didn’t teach Melvin everything he knows. Body Guy has his eye on the title and wants one more shot, saying it could be like a gift from a “son” to a “father”. Melvin wants to know what’s in it for him and Body Guy thinks aloud, rattling off personal training sessions or maybe getting Melvin some boots like his or maybe he dresses up like a girl. Melvin likes the “dresses up like a girl” idea and agrees to it! Body Guy can’t believe he just talked himself into dressing up as Dean laughs at him.
Match #5: “The Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling” Dylan Bostic & “Mexicutioner” Roberto DeLuna vs Elvis Pridemoore & Leon Shelly
Ashcraft is the ref as Bostic and DeLuna attack at the bell. Bostic chucks Pridemoore out and plants him on the floor while DeLuna manhandles Shelly before slinging Bostic into him. Bostic whips Shelly into a DeLuna lariat then they whip him back and forth a few times. Shelly tries a sunset flip but Bostic pulls away and kicks him in the chest before dropping an elbow on him. Bostic holds out Shelly’s arm mockingly for a tag then he and DeLuna beat on Shelly as Ashcraft reminds Pridemoore to please do not enter the ring without benefit of a tag. Bostic releases a standing armbar, runs over to pop Pridemoore upside the head before throwing him out of the ring. DeLuna whips Shelly into the ropes and catches him, holding him up so that Bostic can hit a “super backcracker” on him. DeLuna then pins Shelly for another notch in the win column.
Gilbert joins the duo at ringside and tells them a match has been made for them at SNS, a title match against OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Michael (not PS) Hayes and Mohamed Ali Vaez. Bostic says he does whatever he wants because he is “The Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling”! He goes on to say that he has taken out OVW’s biggest fan favorite (Hayes) and he Vaez “fair and square” last week. He then brings up the 30-day rule for title defenses (actually 3/1 would only be 28 days past 2/1, but whatever) and doesn’t think Hayes will be able to wrestle.
Gilbert stops Bostic to show us a taped message from Hayes, who says it doesn’t look like the doctors will allow him to wrestle but will still do everything he can to be at SNS. Even if he can’t be there, he insists that he is not finished with Bostic as he is coming back and bringing hell with him!
Gilbert turns to ask Bostic if he is proud of himself. Bostic says he is and that he and DeLuna are walking out of SNS as tag champs. DeLuna gives some Spanish language thoughts on this and the duo exits stage left.
Gilbert says OVW is awash with young talent right now as “Pastor of Disaster” Rev. Stuart Miles comes out (dressed like Father James Mitchell). He greets the “sinners” in the audience by blessing them even though they say he sucks. He knows the unpleasant conditions the fans go home to and that there is only one person in the crowd that has any hope at all. He points to McAfee although he adds that a punter is below a third-string quarterback BUT is above the waterboy! He has a word of hope for us as one year ago, his mission began to clean up OVW and he names off the list of spot show towns that he has “cleaned up” but now he will bring the cleansing to the Davis Arena! He will show us what true glory is like as the glorious one shows him where to go. He departs with “peace be with you all” as Gilbert calls this blasphemy.
Back from break, Dean holds up a piece of the broken red kendo stick and plugs the Elizabethtown live event. He reaches over and hits Titus with it, lol.
Match #6: Marauders Clint Poe & Shiloh Jonze (w/Raul Lamotta, Tony Gunn, & Nick Dumeyer) vs Deanta Davis & “Party Starter” Bud Dwight
Barker is the ref here as Poe clobbers Dwight and drags Davis over to beat on him. Jonze displays quite a chopping exhibition on Davis before Poe hiptosses him and beats on him some more. Jonze snapmares Davis but can’t slam him as he slips away to make the tag. Dwight comes in and does his party dance but still makes Jonze miss a splash. Poe also misses a splash and ends up hitting Jonze. Dwight tries to come off the ropes but Lamotta trips him. Jonze sits on top and Poe whips Dwight into Jonze’s knees. Poe holds Dwight as Jonze comes off the top with a bulldog for the pin.
A full Marauder attack ensues as Jonze hits both opponents with a kendo stick before they clear the ring. TPT and Flash (who like has the Darth Maul model of kendo stick-two red ones attached end to end) run out and chase off the Marauders. As the show goes off, Gilbert gets words from TPT, who says they will wear the hide off the Marauders, and Flash, who says they will beat the Marauders senseless!
THOUGHTS: The Elizabethtown event got plugged a lot on this show. They actually showed a close up of the crowd although I guess it was just to show McAfee, who I recognized from his appearances on Kendra Wilkinson’s show. The show has had a different feel over the past few weeks and as noted on the broadcast, there has been a lot of newer talent getting on TV (or really, guys who were getting on TV once a month are now getting on 2-3 times a month). I was a bit confused with Jessie Belle mentioning a number one contenders match then her being in the announced title match, wondering if it got settled in a dark match? The Body Guy/Melvin segment was more amusing this week. Overall, there was a lot of squashing going on but things moved along rather well so I’m giving this a thumbs in the middle.
