This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 756 that will be aired in Louisville on 2/15 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/756
We begin with a clip from the 2/1 Saturday Night Special of the “Rasslin Roulette” match between The Mobile Homers (Adam Revolver & “Man-Beast” Ted McNaler w/Brittany Devore) and OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Mohamed Ali Vaez & Michael (not PS) Hayes, although the Homers have possession of one of the belts. We jump ahead in the action to see OUR OVW Senior Official “Package” Chris Sharpe being distracted by Hayes and McNaler fighting outside the ring while Vaez has rolled up Revolver. Brittany slides a briefcase to Revolver, who hits Vaez in the back with it and covers but only gets 2 as Vaez kicks out. We then jump ahead to McNaler holding Vaez as Brittany has Sharpe distracted and McNaler gets ready to Swing the briefcase again. Hayes comes up to snatch the briefcase away and hits McNaler with it then jaw jacks him followed by Vaez giving him a neckbreaker for the pin. As per the stipulations, McNaler is gone from OVW and is rather distraught as the Homers leave the ring area. The champs stand tall in the ring until “Mexicutioner” Roberto DeLuna runs out and hits Hayes in the back of the leg (his non-prosthetic one) with a ball bat and quickly disappears with Dylan Bostic right behind. The clip ends with Vaez, Sharpe, and OVW Official Josh Ashcraft tending to the fallen Hayes in the ring.
After the show opening, we join OUR OVW Announce Team of Dean Hill, Gilbert Corsey, and Michael Titus (who is sporting a neck brace). Shannon the Dude is OUR OVW Ring Announcer. Tonight we will see Vaez vs Bostic plus OUR OVW TV Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus defends his title against his old boss, The Body Guy. Titus claims to have had neck surgery but Gilbert questions the legitimacy of his claim.
Match #1: Adam Revolver vs “Rockstar” Ryan Howe
Howe brings a Flying V out with him and plays it, with Dean noting that Howe’s routine included nods to Eddie Van Halen and Pete Townshend. Gilbert says that Howe is Dean’s favorite OVW superstar. Sharpe is the ref for this match as the two wrestlers take turns hammering each other in the corner before Howe whips Revolver across and dropkicks him. It is mentioned that Howe has stepped up his game lately and reinvented himself after his feud with “Bullshooter” Jay Bradley, where he had to pick up some submission moves. In fact, Howe grabs the arm but Revolver slips away and slides out of the ring. Back in, Howe tenpunches Revolver and monkeyflips him then goes for another but Revolver sets him on the top turnbuckle. Howe comes off with a crossbody for 2 then comes off the ropes with an armbreaker. He again grabs the arm but Revolver gets a foot on the bottom rope. Revolver slides out of the ring again but Howe dives out onto him and throws him back in. Howe comes off the top and lands on his feet as Revolver moves but gets chopblocked for 2. Revolver pulls Howe by the leg and bangs it on the apron then slams it into the ringpost before dragging him back in and covering for 2. Revolver goes for a figure four but Howe is eventually able to turn him over and break the hold. Revolver whiffs on a running kneelift in the corner and Howe drags him by the leg and bangs it on the apron then slams it into the ringpost before dragging him back in. Howe fires up on Revolver but can’t hold him up in a firemans carry. Revolver goes for a legsweep but Howe blocks it and flips him forward then grabs the arm and locks in his standing armbar submission, forcing Revolver to tap out.
Dean and Titus plug OVW live events in Austin, IN on 2/16 with “Welsh Colossus” Rob Terry, 2/22 in Elizabethtown, KY, and 3/15 in Morehead, KY.
Gilbert is at ringside as Jamin Olivencia comes out. Jamin will face OUR OVW Champion Marcus Anthony at the 3/1 Saturday Night Special. Gilbert says that Jamin will have a large mountain to climb, referring to Anthony, who again locked Jamin in the full nelson/”Crimson Omen” last week after Jamin was victorious in the number one contenders match against Shiloh Jonze. Jamin thanks the fans, stating that “we” are now the number one contender and will walk into SNS on emotion, passion, etc. Out comes Anthony flanked by “Career Killer” Timmy Danger, who has something very important to say on Anthony’s behalf. Danger says Jamin should be thanking OUR OVW Director of Operations Trailer Park Trash for interfering on Jamin’s behalf last week when Jonze was the rightful number one contender. He adds that every time Anthony has locked Jamin in the Crimson Omen, he has had mercy on Jamin and called on Anthony to break the hold. On 3/1, Danger asks what is going to happen when he doesn’t tell Anthony to let go after 5 or 20 or 30 minutes. Jamin has a question for Danger which is: what if Jamin hits the Standing O on Anthony then grabs Danger and gives him the worst beating he’ll ever get? Jamin says he is walking in to SNS as the number one contender and he is walking out as OVW Champion!
Match #2: Jay Best vs “White Kryptonite” Eddie Diamond
Titus wonders aloud where Best is headed since he didn’t get to be Bostic’s wingman. Ashcraft is the ref here as the two trade armworking before Diamond drops and give Best an Oklahoma roll for 2. Diamond unleashes a flurry of offense that sends Best out of the ring. Best snaps Diamond over the top rope and comes back in to stomp Diamond before dropping a knee and giving him a backdrop. Diamond leapfrogs and backdrops Best before hitting the Soulja Boy elbow. Diamond crossfaces Best for the submission victory.
A split screen shows Vaez and Bostic preparing for tonight’s main event.
Match #3: Elvis Pridemoore & Leon Shelley vs Flash Flanagan & Trailer Park Trash
TPT has a plain kendo stick while Flash has the red one in preparation for their “Kendo Sticks on a Pole” match against the Marauders in Elizabethtown. Sharpe is the ref here as Flash and TPT take turns chopping Pridemoore in the corner. Pridemoore throws a knee to get free and tags in Shelley but who, alas, suffers the same fate as his partner as he gets chopped repeatedly. Flash drapes Shelley across the top rope and hits a springboard flying fist. TPT puts Shelley in the tree of woe then pulls him by the arms as Flash doublestomps him in the chest and covers for the pin.
The Marauders (Jonze, Raul Lamotta, Tony Gunn, & Nick Dumeyer) come out to ringside but get chased off by TPT, Flash and the sticks. Gilbert calls Flash & TPT over for some words. TPT says they will always have their eyes on the Marauders while Flash adds that although he and TPT are not as young as they used to be, one way or another they will grab those sticks from the poles and wear out the Marauders. Another Marauder attack ensues but this time they snatch the sticks away and go to town on TPT and Flash.
Back from break, Dean holds up a piece of the broken red kendo stick and plugs the Elizabethtown live event.
Match #4: The Body Guy vs OUR OVW TV Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
Ashcraft is the ref for this title match as Body Guy jumps Melvin outside the ring. They head into the ring where Body Guy removes Melvin’s robe and chokes him with it. Body Guy hits a throat jab and bangs Melvin’s head into the turnbuckle before going for a sleeper. Melvin goes down to one knee but arises and gets himself free. Body Guy shoves Melvin through the ropes and follows but gets clobbered with a marvelous forearm and thrown back in. Melvin clamps on the bearhug and Body Guy submits.
Match #5: “The Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling” Dylan Bostic (w/”Mexicutioner” Roberto DeLuna) vs One-Half of OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Mohamed Ali Vaez
Sharpe is the ref for this match as Gilbert says that Hayes is still out of action after DeLuna’s attack two weeks ago. Vaez comes out with his left shoulder taped as Gilbert says that he separated it at an OVW live event last weekend. Bostic hiptosses but Vaez spears him and peppers that head with fists. Bostic whips Vaez into the ropes but Vaez hangs on and causes Bostic to whiff on a dropkick. DeLuna grabs Vaez’ leg, allowing Bostic to attack from behind. Gilbert wonders aloud if Hayes will be able to return to action in time for him and Vaez to defend the tag titles within 30 days. Bostic backdrops Vaez, who lands on the injured shoulder thus Bostic targets it for punishment. Bostic then puts Vaez in a sleeper and hangs on. Vaez gets free but Bostic hairpulls him down for 2 then reapplies the sleeper. Vaez finally stunners out of the sleeper but misses on a crossbody as Bostic drops down. Vaez is down on the mat as we go to break.
Back from break, Bostic again tries the sleeper only to have Vaez elbow free. Vaez shoots Bostic into the ropes where he bumps into Sharpe and Vaez applies his own sleeper. Bostic tries to stunner out but Vaez just lets him drop then follows up with a pair of suplexes and a waistlock. Bostic gets away but Vaez legsweeps him then stomps DeLuna’s fingers as he tries to reach in. Vaez goes for a standing choke but Bostic scoots to the ropes only to get clobbered by Vaez, who then goes for a camel clutch. Vaez can’t pull Bostic’s arm all the way back, so he bites the arm (no word on what Bostic might taste like). Bostic escapes and ducks a lariat but Vaez slides out of the ring and pulls Bostic down by his feet. DeLuna runs goes after Vaez but gets slugged. Vaez climbs up to the second turnbuckle but steps down as Bostic is talking to the crowd and gives him a German suplex for 2. Vaez goes for a butterfly suplex but Bostic slips out to the apron. Vaez follows him over there and they duke it out for a bit. Vaez tries another German suplex but Bostic hangs on to the ropes. Vaez kicks DeLuna away but Bostic mule kicks him in the groinular region then DeLuna rams him into the apron and rolls him back in. Bostic covers but can’t hold Vaez down for the three. Bostic throws a lariat but Vaez ducks and hits Sharpe instead! Bostic calls for DeLuna to grab the tag title belt and it gets pitched to Bostic, who holds it in Vaez’ face. Vaez lowblows and neckbreakers Bostic for a cover but Sharpe is still down. Vaez checks on Sharpe but DeLuna comes in to spear Vaez and drop Bostic on top as Ashcraft runs out ot count the pin.
DeLuna stomps Vaez then feeds him to Bostic, who hits a back cracker followed by DeLuna spearing him again. Bostic and DeLuna celebrate their hard-fought victory as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: Again we get three matches ending in submissions this week. Will we see a 3-way submission match at some point? (Probably not) The lack of female participation this week has been noted. Will Clint Poe reappear in Elizabethtown to make the Marauders a quintet again? Melvin vs Body Guy was just kind of there. Otherwise, this show kind of just feels like a continuation of last week. I’ll go thumbs in the middle on this.
