OVW TV Episode 755 Recap‏

by Jimmie Daniel

This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 755 that will be aired in Louisville on 2/8 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/755

We begin with a clip from this past weekend’s Saturday Night Special where OUR OVW Champion “Strongest Gamer Alive” Marcus Anthony has applied the full nelson/Crimson Omen to challenger “Smooth” Johnny Spade, which results in Spade going limp and Anthony winning the match to retain the title. Anthony’s advisor “World’s Most Dangerous Hype Man” Timmy Danger brings a chair into the ring and has a seat as Anthony picks Spade up over his shoulder, squats, and drives Spade into the mat. Danger implores Anthony to teach Spade a lesson, so Anthony clamps on the full nelson and slings Spade to and fro until Jamin Olivencia runs out to chase Anthony and Danger away.

OUR OVW Announce Team this week is “Quadruple Emmy Winner” Gilbert Corsey and “Rocky Mountain Mouth” Michael Titus, as Dean Hill is probably on assignment (hopefully in a warmer climate). Tonight’s main event will be Jamin Olivencia taking Shiloh Jonze in a number one contenders match with the winner taking on the OVW Champion at the next Saturday Night Special on 3/1.

Match #1: “Diamond Steel” Ryan Howe vs Leon Shelley
Josh Ashcraft is OUR OVW Official for this match. Gilbert notes that Howe defeated “Bullshooter” Jay Bradley in a submission match at SNS and calls it the biggest win of his career. Howe immediately goes to work on the arm and eventually hammerlocks Shelly before taking him down for 2. Shelley forearms free and they trade dropkicks before Howe resumes the armworking. Shelley hairpulls free and stomps Howe’s arm. Titus praises Shelley’s progress courtesy of the OVW Training School. Howe reverses a wristlock but Shelley stunners out. Howe hits a leg lariat followed by a slam before grabbing an armbar (Gilbert notes it’s the same kind that Howe defeated Bradley with) and making Shelley tap out.

Gilbert recaps the tag title match at SNS by informing us that “Man-Beast” Ted McNaler lost the fall in the “Rasslin’ Roulette” match and thus has left OVW. He then goes to ringside where he is going to interview OUR OVW Director of Operation Trailer Park Trash, who teamed with Flash Flanagan in a 2-on-5 match against the Marauders at SNS. TPT says he and Flash had victory in hand but the numbers game got the best of them. TPT announces a rematch for the OVW Live Event 2/22 in Elizabethtown that will be “kendo sticks on a pole”! TPT assumes it will be 4-on-5 when he and Flash get the kendo sticks and use them on the Marauders. TPT also says that Shiloh Jonze will constantly be in his eyesight and he’ll never know when he’ll see TPT!

Match #2: “Wild Eyed Southern Girl” Jessie Belle vs Miss OVW 2013 “Powerhouse Princess” Lovely Lylah
OUR OVW Senior Official “Package” Chris Sharpe is in charge here as Lylah hands her tiara to OUR OVW Ring Announcer Shannon the Dude for safekeeping. The ladies trade waistlocks then Jessie takes Lylah over in a headlock only to be clamped in a headscissors and taken down. Jessie pulls herself over Lylah and covers for 2. Lylah takes Jessie over in a headlock but the same masked person that attacked OUR OVW Ladies Champion Lei’d Tapa two weeks ago runs out and whacks Lylah in the knee! Ashcraft comes out and joins Sharpe in making this person leave the ring. Jessie and the refs help Lylah out of the ring.

Match #3: “King of Pink” Dylan Bostic & “Mexicutioner” Roberto DeLuna vs Deante Davis & “The Teflon Don from Boca Raton” Eddie Diamond
Gilbert notes that Bostic and his new buddy DeLuna attacked OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Mohamed Ali Vaez and Michael (not PS) Hayes after the tag title match at SNS. Joe Wheeler has popped back in for a cameo as OUR OVW Official for this match. Diamond hits a trio of dropkicks on DeLuna but can’t get him off his feet. Davis tags in and is greeted with a DeLuna clothesline before getting chopped. Bostic mockingly holds out Davis’ hand for a tag to Diamond but pulls him back to the wrong corner for some beatings. DeLuna stomps then walks on the chest of the fallen Davis as Bostic taunts Diamond before clobbering him, sending him to the floor. Bostic whips Davis into a DeLuna spear and Bostic covers him for the pin.

Gilbert is at ringside to interview Bostic and DeLuna and asks Bostic where his other wingman (“Mr. Pec-tacular” ™ Jessie Godderz) went to. Bostic says that he was looking for the “best wingman ever” but that’s not what he really needed. Instead, he realized that he needed some muscle and a legitimate tag team partner and it’s the best money he’s ever spent. Gilbert asks Bostic how much money was spent for the attack on Vaez and Hayes. Bostic says he has been a laughing stock around here, but now he is going to take things seriously and they are going to win the tag titles! He has one question for Hayes (who is sitting at home due to injuries from this attack) and that is “Who sucks now?” DeLuna then talks in Spanish until Vaez comes out swinging a chair and chases away Bostic and DeLuna. A very angry Vaez says Bostic and DeLuna now have his undivided attention. He says Hayes has spent enough time in hospitals already without having to deal with cowardly attacks from DeLuna. Vaez knows Bostic was the mastermind behind the attack and for the first time in 8 years in OVW has asked Danny Davis for a favor, a match next week with Bostic!

Match #4: Elvis Pridemore vs OUR OVW TV Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
Ashcraft is the ref here as Gilbert tells us that Melvin quit being Body Guy’s bodyguard at SNS. Elvis punches away on Melvin until he eats a clothesline. Melvin misses a splash and Elvis peppers him with kicks then bangs his head into the turnbuckles. Elvis dropkicks Melvin twice but gets yanked out of the corner and planted into the mat. Melvin grabs the bearhug on Elvis as Gilbert lists every internal organ that can be affected by a bearhug. Elvis taps out and Melvin retains the title with a “major win”.

Body Guy comes out. He says he took Melvin in, coddled him like a baby, and trained him in this sport. He says Melvin abandoned him at SNS, leaving him to be beaten and embarrassed. Body Guy says he has read through the OVW Book of Regulations and taken notes, which he pulls out of his pocket. Body Guy puts on his reading glasses and quotes the book as saying “In the event of no contender officially being named for an OVW title, former champions will be held in highest consideration.” He then adds that since he was a former champion (well, a women’s champion:) he has arranged a TV title shot for himself against Melvin next week. He says he will leave Melvin beaten and embarrassed.

Match #5: Shiloh Jonze (w/fellow Marauders Raul Lamotta, Nick Dumeyer, and Tony Gunn) vs Jamin Olivencia
Sharpe is the ref for this number one contenders match as Gilbert notes that these two had a match at a previous SNS that went over thirty minutes (we have twenty minutes left in the show). Jonze slaps Jamin, who slaps back harder. Jonze charges but gets taken down and the two scrap on the mat for a bit. Jonze kneelifts himself away from Jamin, who promptly lariats him to the apron and he drops to the floor as we go to break,

We return to find the four Marauders huddled on the outside as Jamin climbs up top and dives out onto them! He grabs Jonze by the tights and throws him back into the ring. Jamin hits a missile dropkick to send Jonze into the corner. Jonze kicks and chops but Jamin hulks up and whips Jonze across the ring so hard that he flips in the corner. Jamin lariats Jonze for 2 as Dumeyer climbs on the apron. Jamin turns around to catch Jonze sneaking up on him and gives him a belly to back suplex for 2. Jamin butterflies Jonze’s arms as Titus points out the whole function of the Marauders is to help out Jonze. Meanwhile, Jonze kicks away from Jamin and rams his shoulders into Jamin’s midsection then chokes him in the ropes. Sharpe counsels Jonze on his behavior, which allows Lamotta to choke Jamin. Dumeyer reaches through the ropes to grab Jamin’s leg as he tries to come off the ropes then Jonze throws him through the ropes for a Marauder attack! Gunn throws Jamin back in but Sharpe saw this and ejects Gunn, Lamotta, and Dumeyer from ringside as we take another break.

Back from break, we hear that Jonze has dominated while we were away as Jamin runs into a boot. Jamin then splashes Jonze and lariats him. Jonze breaks up Jamin’s Standing O attempt and kicks him in the head followed by a leg lariat for 2. Jonze sets Jamin up on the turnbuckles and climbs up but gets knocked off with a forearm. Jamin comes off with a splash for 2.9 then sets Jonze in the corner for a tenpunch. Jamin finishes and comes off but accidentally hits Sharpe on the way down. Jamin checks on Sharpe but Jonze boots him in the head and leaves him on the mat. Jonze removes his boot (no mention of if it was an orthopedic boot) and intends to hit Jamin with it. TPT runs out, whacks Jonze with a kendo stick, and runs right back out. Jamin hits the Standing O on Jonze for the pin.

Jamin is now the number one contender and will face Anthony at the 3/1 SNS. Anthony runs out and hits Jamin in the head with the title belt then locks in the full nelson on him, swinging him to and fro as Danger is enjoying all this. The refs make Anthony stop this and he stands over the fallen Jamin as the show goes off.

Thoughts: Titus seemed a bit subdued but more serious on commentary this week. Although both he and Gilbert referred to Lylah’s attacker as a male, it appeared that it could have been a heavily dressed female. It will be interesting to see if this is someone new or perhaps someone returning to OVW. It will be also be interesting to see what becomes of Adam Revolver now that his fellow Mobile Homer McNaler is gone. I was looking forward to seeing Bostic and Godderz tag together but I’m guessing Godderz is gone back to TNA for good? Bostic and DeLuna feels like second helping of Danger and Anthony. With Hayes on the shelf, could we see Vaez and Howe as a team? Overall I’ll give this show a slight thumbs up.
