TMZ Picks Up Punk Situation

WWE superstar CM Punk is QUITTING the organization, TMZ Sports has learned … and sources tell us it’s all because he’s PISSED over the way the company wants to use him at “WrestleMania.”

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ Sports … Punk was livid when he learned officials scripted Batista to win the Royal Rumble … because he feels Batista isn’t in great wrestling shape and shouldn’t be featured in the title match at the upcoming WrestleMania (the biggest event of the year).

We’re told Punk feels he earned the right to be in the main event at WrestleMania — because he’s been wrestling tirelessly over the past year from house shows to overseas events. Punk was angry when he found out he’d be wrestling Triple H at WrestleMania instead of squaring off in the title match.

Sources say … Punk — whose contract is up in July — made the decision to leave WWE after “Monday Night Raw” — and we’re told that right now, he’s very serious about his decision and has no plans to return.

I can’t say I blame him at all. the two most over stars in the company, Punk and Bryan, are not taken seriously by upper management at all. I’m in no way saying that the show should revolve around those two, but they could at least try to make them happy by not bringing in an old, out of shape “decent at best” wrestler.

    bad for business….good for Punk

  3. Daniel says:

Nobody wants to see Triple H in a Wrestlemania Match. Why oh Why does Triple H want to put himself in a Wrestlemania Match? He is the Authority, not a wrestler anymore. Nobody wants to see Triple H at Wrestlemania.

  4. Alex says:

Sigh… I so wanted Punk to win the rumble…

  5. art123guy says:

@Daniel–You are wrong, Triple H and Stephanie want to see Triple H at Wrestlelmania.

@rocco–Actually, the show should revolve around Punk and Bryan. That’s what the fans want. The show has been revolving around Cena for what, 10 years? Cena’s had his time, Orton and Batista too. It’s time for a change.

  6. WWEUnCreative says:

WWE will slowly die with their stuck in their ways attitude.

  7. Jeff Copeland says:

who cares let him go theres 100 people take his place

  8. dave says:

No worries, the fans will hijack most events with Punk and Bryan chants, anything the WWE does now that goes against either man or the fans will backfire horribly. Like snide comments on Raw about Punk bottling it, etc…

WWE is in a far more precarious position than many perhaps believe…

UNLESSS this is all a big work and that wouldn’t shock me one bit.

  9. dave says:

When I say precarious, I don’t mean they’ll go out of business…they’ll just lose the audience for their most important time of year and they will continue to gain negative press and that negativity in the crowds will spread like wildfire. Not good for business. If TNA had some money, and a few talented writers, they could capitalize but we know that won’t happen.

  10. Da King says:

This makes me sad. @art123guy I agree. I said the exact thing. Austin had a run as the top guy, fell back,Rock had a run as top guy, fell back.Cena has been shoved in our face for the last 11yrs. Only putting over who,Punk and Bryan. The two guys of the company who gets the biggest pop when their theme hits. Punk is my fav current (Undertaker) and how he gets tossed to mid card status at WM because Batista wants to promote his movie. I tune in every Monday to see a great show and it has been fair but when they use Cena as the main event its pretty much predictable. I do want change but losing Punk is not the change I prefer. #CenaNuff

  11. Drew says:

CM Punk deserves better; I don’t blame him for leaving.

If Daniel Bryan leaves too, I’m going to cry!

  12. Matthew says:

It’s interesting to say the least of how this all went down. If it’s a work, they’re doing a pretty damn good job of it. I agree fans will be fans and they’ll be chanting for what they want.

But @Jeff Copeland must you be like that?

Lots of guys who work there are just there for the pay. Then there are a few that just want to wrestle and change it for the better. Everyone say what you feel, I believe that Punk and Bryan are two of that few.

  13. @Matthew – That Jeff Copeland is like that in all his comments. I’ve never seen a positive one yet.
