Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards learn their WWE fates

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has not invited former Ring of Honor tag team champions The American Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) back for the next NXT television tapings and it doesn’t appear that either will be offered a developmental deal at the present time. Triple H reportedly made a call not to sign them after the first set of NXT tapings they worked back in the fall. While both had people backing them in WWE, this same report suggests that their size may have worked against them.

Good thing Davey didn’t burn any bridges….oh wait.

    Now what, boys?

  3. I would say they’re about the same size as most guys in NXT. Tyler Breeze, Enzo Amore, Aiden English, Sami Zayn etc are all small guys and are all incredibly over with the crowd. The American Wolves were also pretty over on NXT 200 and were quite impressive. WWE’s loss if you ask me.

if i were tna I would jump on the chance of signing these two young stars

  5. John Bash says:

Sucks that they’re not getting signed. What sucks even more is that Davey Richards has said his goodbyes all around the indies.

You’d think by now they’d realize you don’t have to look like hogan or Batista to get over with the fans. Just look at CM Punk & Daniel Bryan. Plus the smaller guys have more than 5 or 6 moves & that makes their matches more entertaining to watch. Innovation is so underrated. Sorry Cena..

  7. Josh says:

Not everyone can be 6’5″ 270 with limited mobility and move sets. Dumb decision. I said the other day they (wwe) need to split brands, except create a divas show with the divas champ and diva tag champs. Same with a lucha/Lt. Hvy weight show also with a singles and tag champs. Will never happen but it’s something to at least think about.

  8. Deabs says:

The thing is, they have a ton of guys that are small right now in developmental. They don’t need anymore of the smaller guys. They have enough of them now in developmental and on the main roster that signing Davey and Eddie doesn’t make a ton of sense for them right now. I know that will get a lot of hate but, that is the simple fact of the matter. The WWE needs a few more bigger guys right now that are good.

  9. Matt says:

No the thing is this “report” gives no reason at all beyond a guess it had anything at all to do with size. It’s just making a half-assed guess and everyone here acts like it’s the truth.

Who’s to say the problem here isnt the fact Davey’s got an attitude reputation and Eddie by himself isnt as promising as several other wrestlers they already have in development?

Sure that’s a guess on my part but this article makes zero effort to defend their guess of it being size.

I don’t buy a bad publications word about such things when they typically publish things based on wrong guesses that anyone who attends a community college business course would know better than them.

You’d think with them re-vamping the tag division these guys would be high up the list to sign. That’s a shame, I was looking forward to watching them.
