Wrestling By The Numbers: Wesley ‘Davey’ Richards

Ring Of Honor Wrestling has parted ways with former 1-Time ROH Champion and 3-Time ROH Tag-Team Champion Wesley ‘Davey’ Richards. The 30-year-old Othello Washington native had spent the previous 7-years with the organization after first debuting in June of 2006. Richards was apart of two very successful tag-teams while in ROH first gaining success as apart of No Remorse Corp. alongside both Roderick Strong and Rocky Romero. His tag-team The American Wolves with Eddie Edwards which at times was managed by the late Larry Sweeney, is one of the greatest tag-teams in the history of ROH. Richards also feuded with Edwards over the ROH Championship between 2011-2012. In his final months with the company he had reformed his tag-team with Edwards but announced on November 30th he had parted ways with the company. ROH later claimed in a statement Richards had been released due to unprofessionalism and unreliability with the company.

Wesley Richards is a 9-year professional of the squared circle who first debuted back in 2004 after having been trained by Paul Orndorff & Tony Kozina. He has competed over his career under the names Davey Richards, Davey Phoenix, Wayne Kerr and recently Derek Billington. In addition to his career with ROH, Richards also competed with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla from 2005-2013 where he is a former 1-Time PWG Champion and 3-Time PWG Tag-Team Champion. Richards has been a regular for numerous north american independent organizations including Squared Circle Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Dragon Gate and others. He has also been a regular in the orient working for New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2010-2012 and competing in numerous tours with Pro Wrestling NOAH. Since leaving ROH there has reportedly been interest in Richards from both the WWE and TNA but no official announcement regarding his contract status has been made public.
