Wrestling By The Numbers: Christopher ‘Kassius Ohno’ Spradlin

World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the release of developmental talent and NXT Wrestling regular Christopher ‘Kassius Ohno’ Spradlin. The 33-year-old Dayton Ohio native had spent the previous 2-years with the WWE after having been signed back in February of 2012. Spradlin was first signed with former tag-team partner Claudio Castagnoli in June of 2011 but has contract was rescinded after testing positive for steroids in the WWE’s Wellness Program. He officially signed with the company 7-months later after it was discovered he had naturally elevated testosterone. Spradlin was first assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling and later became a regular competitor on NXT Wrestling. He was removed from television by company officials from June to October earlier this year after being accused of a lack of commitment to conditioning programs. The WWE officially announced his release back on November 8th reportedly for being too vocal about his lack of a push within the organization.

Christopher Spradlin is a 15-year veteran of the squared circle who first debuted back in September of 1998 and has competed under the names Kassius Ohno, Chris Hero, Chris Hyde and Wife Beater. Spradlin was first trained by Gary Goffinet and Adam Gahzee and later received training from Dory Funk Jr., Ian Rotten, Les Thatcher, Tracy Smothers, Dave Taylor, Fit Finlay, William Regal, Skayde, Johnny Saint and the Pro Wrestling NOAH Dojo. Throughout his 14-years working the worldwide independent circuit Spradlin became a top star in IWA Mid-South, Combat Zone Wrestling and Chikara where he was a regular with all 3-company’s for years. He went on to have his largest success as a mainstay with both Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Ring Of Honor Wrestling where alongside Claudio Castagnoli were the 2010 Wrestling Observer Tag-Team Of The Year. He also had a short stint with TNA Wrestling from 2003-2004 and has worked multiple tours with Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan. Since his release from the WWE Spradlin has went back to competing as Chris Hero and has already made comebacks to former stomping grounds including ROH, PWG & CZW.
