Trivia

1995 – Madusa (Alundra Blayze) appears on WCW Nitro and throws the WWF Womens Title into a trash can

2006 – District Court Cottbus in Germany ruled that the video game “WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2006″ played no role in the homicide of a homeless man, as the defendant claimed in a last ditch effort to reduce his sentence. The court also ruled that the claim could not be used to justify the crime
2008 – Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” grossed $46,928 for it’s first day of screening last night in New York City, an average of $11, 732 over four screens at two theaters in Manhattan, one in Lincolm Center and the other, the great Landmark Sunshine theater in the Lower East Side

- John “Bradshaw” Layfield (w/ Jillian Hall) defeated Matt Hardy

- MNM (Johnny Nitro & Joey Matthews) w/ Melina defeat The Mexicools (Super Crazy & Psicosis)

– Chris Benoit defeats Booker T w/ Sharmell in the fourth match of the Best of 7 Series for the vacant WWE United States Title

- Bobby Lashley defeated William Regal & Paul Burchill in a handicap match
– Kid Kash defeats Juventud to win the WWE Cruiserweight Title
– Kane & The Big Show defeat Rey Mysterio & Batista
– The Undertaker defeats Randy Orton (w/ “Cowboy” Bob Orton Jr) in a Hell In A Cell Match

In 2010, ROH Final Battle was held in New York City

– The Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay) & Mike ‘Papa’ Briscoe defeat The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) & Shane Hagadorn in a Six-Man Tag Team Match
– Roderick Strong defeats Davey Richards to retain the ROH World Title
– El Generico defeats Kevin Steen in an Unsanctioned Fight Without Honor, forcing Steen to leave ROH. Had Generico lost, he would have had to unmask

In 2011, WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs was held in Baltimore, Maryland

– Zack Ryder defeats Dolph Ziggler to win the WWE United States Title
– Air Boom (Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne) defeat Primo & Epico to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles
– Beth Phoenix defeats Kelly Kelly to retain the WWE Divas Title
– The Big Show defeats Mark Henry in a Chairs Match to win the World Heavyweight Title
– Daniel Bryan cashes in his Money In The Bank and defeats The Big Show to win the World Heavyweight Title
– Cody Rhodes defeats Booker T to retain the WWE Intercontinental Title
– CM Punk defeats The Miz & Alberto Del Rio in a Triple Threat TLC Match to retain the WWE Title

Title Changes

1970 – Toru Tanaka defeats Fritz von Erich to win the WCCW American Heavyweight Title

1975 – Giant Baba won All Japan Pro Wrestling’s 20-man Open Championship tournament in Tokyo with 11 points, beating out second place finishers Abdullah The Butcher and Dory Funk Jr. by one point

1978 – Ricky Steamboat defeats Ric Flair in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to win the United States Title for a second time.  This also marked the end of Flair’s second reign with the belt

1991 – Blue Panther defeats El Satanico in the final of a tournament to become the first CMLL World Middleweight Champion

1995 – Ted DiBiase awards the Million Dollar Championship to The Ringmaster

2000 – The Rock & The Undertaker defeat Edge & Christian to win the WWF Tag Team Titles
