Here’s what you need to know about NXT:
-The NXT Champion is Bo Dallas. He defeated Big E. Langston on June 13 after teasing a heel turn on May 16. Bo’s character has evolved into this delusional guy who thinks the fans love him when they hate him almost as much as people hate Cena.
-They also have Tag Team Champions, Conor O’Brien and Rick Victor, better known as The Ascension. They won the belts on October 3, defeating Adrian Neville and Corey Graves
-Paige is the first ever Woman’s Champion. She captured the belt on July 25 defeating Emma in the finals of a grueling tournament, which was not held in Rio De Janero.
-John “Bradshaw” Layfield is the Interim General Manager of the show, replacing Dusty Rhodes who Triple H fired in a power trip.
-The announce team is constantly rotating with some combination of William Regal, Brad Maddox, Alex Riley, Renee Young and Tom Phillips
And that’s everything you need to know about NXT. (Now we know!) (And knowing is half the battle) (G.I. Joe!)
-Before we begin this is your weekly reminder that over on WrestleCrap.com I go into the way back machine and discover legendary moments in 140 characters of less for Epic Tweets In Wrestling History.
-The show started with footage from last week when Antonio Cesaro was asked his thoughts on William Regal getting involved at the start of his match.
Cesaro told William not to stick his nose in his business. Leo Kruger walked up and thanked Antonio for taking Leo to a place he hadn’t been in a very long time. Leo offered to form an alliance with Cesaro.
Leo has a match with Sami Zayn. Cesaro wanted Leo to do him a little favor. We haven’t yet found out what that is.
1.) NXT Woman’s Champion Paige pinned Natalya
We start the show with a match for the NXT Woman’s Title. This match was set up last week when Paige and Nattie got into a catty argument.
Paige with a side headlock take over, which caused one fan to start chanting NXT. Natalya with a take down, which sadly did not cause the same fan to chant “Raw”.
A lot of decent chain wrestling as neither woman seemed to do anything to separate themselves. Nattie went for a sharpshooter that Paige kicked her way out of as we went to commercial.
We come back from commercial break with Paige flipping out. Apparently during the commercial Paige went for a handshake and Nattie slapped her. Thankfully we didn’t get to see that, it may have been important.
Nattie gets me to mark out with the old school Abdominal Stretch that Alex Riley, Byron Saxton and Renee Young referred to as twerking. Mike Rotunda/o is rolling over in her grave.
Remember way back when when there would be great matches on Nitro and the announcers would talk about anything and everything else? Not saying this match was of the same caliber, but the announcers kept going back to Miley Cyrus.
Finally Natalya dragged Paige towards the ropes and locked on the Sharpshooter. You will be surprised to hear this, but we ended up in a collision near the ropes. As soon as they stood up, Paige hit the Paige Turner for the win.
After the match the ladies hugged it out.
-Backstage Alexander Rusev and Russian Woman were talking when CJ Parker walked in and called Kassius Ohno fat. Woman told him off.
-That New Middle Aged Male Backstage Announcer (Dan Something) interviewed Mojo Rowley, who said nothing. In walked Sylvester Lefort who said that he can help Mojo make lots of MONAY!
Mojo said he is taking lots of money from Scott Dawson.
Next week it will be Mojo vs Scott Dawson. Too bad Enzo Amore is injured.
2.) Aiden English pinned Unnamed Jobber.
This match saw dueling chants of “Aiden English” and “Let’s Go This Guy”, which is their standard chant for unnamed jobbers.
Renee and Alex talked about thespians and lesbians. Aiden won with the Director’s Cut.
-As Aiden walks out, Antonio Cesaro passed him on the ramp. Cesaro is here to apologize to Byron Saxton, who was the in-ring announcer last week when Antonio threw a hissy fit and Regal ran in for the save.
Byron goes onto stage and reluctantly shakes Cesaro’s hand. Antonio apologized in 5 different languages. That was nice of him.
Antonio was such a nice guy that he allowed Byron to stand on the stage as Antonio said in a loud, clear, intelligible voice “We the people”. Byron said it with all the emotion of Lance Storm reading a prepared statement, so this caused Cesaro to flip out.
Cesaro kept looking for Mr. Regal to run out and when he didn’t Antonio bitch slapped Byron.
-Last week Sami Zayn talked about his frustrations of losing the #1 Contender’s Match to Adrian Neville. Leo Kruger high stepped in and clotheslined Sami in the back of the head.
-Tom Phillips came out to replace Byron.
3.) Tyson Kidd pinned Leo Kruger
Tyson returns to NXT for the first time since February 20 when he went down with his horrible knee injury and this very same Leo Kruger was a dick to him.
Tom called Tyson a 2-time WWE Tag Team Champion. When was the second time he held the belts? Him and Harry Boy beat Show-Miz and lost to the long forgotten team of Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes…and that’s about it.
Renee and A-Ry are still talking about thespians and lesbians. Leo gets the heat by kicking Tyson’s leg out of his leg.
Leo Kruger slapped on the Sharpshooter. Sadly the referee did not ring the damn bell. Instead Sami Zayn skipped to ringside, which caused Leo to break the hold and be distracted long enough for Tyson to roll Leo up for the win.
-Sin Cara….I mean Hunico and Camacho were backstage talking about facing Ascension next week.
Sami Zayn vs Leo Kruger
The Ascension vs Hunico and Camacho
Mojo Rawley vs Scott Dawson
4.) Adrian Neville defeated NXT Champion Bo Dallas by Countout, so Bo retains the title.
Bo Dallas has been NXT Champion for 175 days. Will we live to see Day 176 tomorrow? Tom Phillips has added 20 days to his reign, announcing it as 195 days. He is a Bo-liever. Can the longest reigning NXT Champion in the last 25 years live to see another day?
These two men were Tag Team Champions for one week when Dallas replaced the injured Oliver Grey and finished their title reign.
Adrian got several near falls in the first three minutes, but because the fans know that no championship match will end in 3 minutes, they ignored them. Bo “accidentally” took off the middle turnbuckle, which was what happened a few months ago when Sami got his title shot.
Bo dropped several knees on Adrian, but paid for it when he tried to drop one from the middle rope. Adrian with several leg kicks.
Adrian hit the giant diver over the top rope, which almost missed Bo, but he was nice enough to kick him in the head. Adrian climbed to the top…which is when I realized that someone replaced the turnbuckle pad. Anyway Bo rolled outside so Adrian flew off the top rope with a cross body block to the floor.
Both men struggled to get into the ring by ten and Neville made it, but Bo didn’t. Bo accidentally-on-purpose didn’t make it into the ring, so he retains the title! Bo retains the title on a countout, so yes, ladies and gentlemen, Day 176 in the Era Of Bo is tomorrow!
-With that, I will see you again next week on the day that only comes once a century….12-12-13.
