Wrestling By The Numbers: Juan ‘El Brazo’ Alvarado‏

The professional wrestling world has been grieving the death of legendary Mexican Trios competitor and member of the legendary Alvarado wrestling family Juan ‘El Brazo’ Alvarado. The 52-year-old Mexico City Mexico native passed away on October 15th after a long battle with diabetes. Alvarado was apart of the popular Los Brazos trios group as El Brazo along with his real life brothers Brazo de Oro and Brazo de Plata. The group during their heydays were a huge draw in Mexico competing all over the country with their biggest feud being against trios Los Villanos which included Villano I, Villano IV and Villano V. Los Brazos also made apperances competing with the Los Angeles based NWA Hollywood Wrestling organization. Over his career El Brazo became a former 1-Time CMLL Trios Champion, 3-Time Mexican National Trios Champion, 3-Time UWA Trios Champion and a 1-Time WWA Trios Champion.

After being trained by his legendary father Shadito Cruz and Felipe Ham Lee, Alvarado started his 33-year career back in 1980 and became most popular as El Brazo but also competed during his career as Brazo Negro, Brazo Hermoso, Tio Lucas, Latin Boiler, Ingordable, La Puerca and La Braza. He competed regularly with Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre over 14-years starting back in 1984 until 1996 and then returning from 1998-1999. He would then join rival Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion in the year 2000 and would spend 12-years with the company making his last appearance with the group in 2012. Over his career Alvarado competed for numerous other Mexican organizations including the Universal Wrestling Association, Promo Azteca, the International Wrestling Revolution Group, Toryumon Mexico, Dradition Pro-Wrestling and Promoconies Cantu among others. His last match was as El Brazo on September 14th 2013 teaming with Mamba and Yuriko on a Wrestling In Puebla event against Alan Stone, El Alebrije and El Elegido in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls Trios Match.
