1990 – Vince McMahon officially founds the World Bobdybuilding Federation (WBF)

2006 – WWE Smackdown airs for the final time on UPN


In 1996, WCW Fall Brawl was held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was the first event to explicitly showcase WCW’s working relationship with Mexico’s AAA

– Konnan defeats Juventud Guerrera to retain the AAA Heavyweight Title
– Rey Misterio Jr defeats Super Calo to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title
– Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) defeat The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags) to retain the WCW World Tag Team Titles
– The Giant defeats Randy Savage
– Team nWo (Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash & nWo Sting) defeat Team WCW (Lex Luger, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Sting) in a WarGames Match

In 2007, ROH Man Up was held in Chicago Ridge, Illinois

– Nigel McGuinness defeats Claudio Castagnoli, Chris Hero & Naomichi Marufuji in a Four Corner Survival Match
– Takeshi Morishima defeats Bryan Danielson to retain the ROH World Title
– The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark) defeat Kevin Steen & El Generico to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles

In 2012, ROH Death Before Dishonor X was held in Chicago, Ridge, Illinois

– Tadarius Thomas defeats Silas Young to qualify for Survival of the Fittest
– Adam Cole defeats Mike Mondo to retain the ROH Television Title
– SCUM (Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino) defeat Rhett Titus & Charlie Haas in the final of a tournament to win the vacant ROH Tag Team Titles
– Kevin Steen defeats Rhino in a No-DQ Match to retain the ROH World Title

Title Changes

1979 – Pat Patterson is awarded the WWF Intercontinental Title after winning the WWF North American and South American Titles. This is the first WWF Intercontinental Title reign and saw the other two belts retire

1985 – Denny Brown defeats Gary Royal to win the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title

1986 – Black Bart defeats Chris Adams to win the WCCW World Heavyweight Title

1988 – Footloose (Samson Fuyuki & Toshiaki Kawada) defeat Shinichi Nakano & Shunji Takano to win the AJPW All Asia Tag Team Titles

1997 – on Nitro, Curt Hennig defeats Steve McMichael to win the WCW United States Title

1998 – on Raw, X-Pac defeats D’Lo Brown to win the WWF European Title. Also, Jacqueline defeats Sable to win the reinstated WWF Womens Title

2005 – Jeff Jarrett defeats Raven to win the NWA World Title. This match never aired on TNA programming, having taken place at a BCW (Canadian indy) show


Happy birthday to former ECW wrestler Chad Austin, also known as Chad Bowman (41), one-time ROH Tag Team Champion Rhett Titus (26), 2-time Open the Brave Gate Champion Genki Horiguchi (35) and former Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long (66)
