Updated: John Cena to take time off?

The word backstage at the Summerslam PPV last night was that John Cena would be taking time off to get his injured elbow taken care of. When injured in the past, Cena has worked hard to recover quicker than expected for a return. But the feeling this time is that he will actually take the time to let his body heal up from years of wear and tear, reports Cena did miss a house show over the weekend due to his injured elbow.

Update: Cena is likely to have surgery this week.

This could be the best news coming out of Summerslam.

I’m not a fan of Cena, but I respect his place in the business and his work ethic over the years. However, this is what WWE needs. The Cena character is super stale and the “WWE Universe” needs some time away from him. Hopefully he does stay gone for a while.

What do you expect they want to feel special. It’s not the WWE that’s stale it’s these massochists pretending to be fans. WWE isn’t going to be any better or any worse if Cena goes on break. They’ll just blame someone else and still cry over and over again.
