1998 – WWF Sunday Night Heat airs for the first time on the USA Network

1998 – Shinya Hashimoto wins the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament, defeating Kazuo Yamazaki in the final

2008 – WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event airs for the final time


In 1998, ECW Heat Wave was held in Dayton, Ohio. This was the 5th Heat Wave event, but the first to air on PPV

– Masato Tanaka defeats Mike Awesome
– Sabu & Rob Van Dam defeat Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki to retain the ECW Tag Team Titles
– Taz defeats Bam Bam Bigelow in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to retain the ECW FTW Title
– Tommy Dreamer, Spike Dudley & The Sandman defeat The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray, D-Von & Big Dick) in a Street Fight

Title Changes

1986 – Steve Regal defeats Denny Brown to win the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title

1992 – Ron Simmons defeats Big Van Vader to win the WCW World Title, becoming the first African-American to hold a World Championship

1993 – Luna Vachon defeats Miss Texas to win the USWA Womens Title

2003 – Chris Draven defeats Rocky Reynolds to win the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title

2005 – on Velocity, Nunzio defeats Paul London to win the WWE Cruiserweight Title

2008 – Brent Albright defeats Adam Pearce to win the NWA World Title
