NWA World’s heavyweight champion “The Iron Man” Rob Conway will be headed back to Nashville this weekend.
Conway came to Nashville and faced off against “The Natural” Chase Stevens in a thirty-minute iron man match and these two men went to the limit. Thirty minutes wasn’t long enough to get a victor, but these two men walked away as equals. This weekend, Conway and Stevens will be headed to NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling in NWA Music City Showdown for their rematch. But this will not be a normal match; it will be a sixty minute iron man match!
Both Conway and Stevens went to the video to give their message to each other.
Conway released the following:
“I’m looking forward to coming back to NWA SAW in Millersville, TN, July 26th. You see, the last time I was there, Chase Stevens, a great wrestler, a man I have great respect for; we went to a 30 minute television time limit draw. He’s the only man I haven’t beaten with an Ego Trip since I became the champion. … Now this time when I come on the 26th it’s going to be a 60 minute iron man match. This time there isn’t going to be a draw. The Iron Man is going to drop him on his neck with an Ego Trip, whether I respect him or not, it’s not going to keep me from winning that match. Now here’s the thing, when you’re in the NWA, you’ve got to beat the Iron Man. I’m walking in as the NWA World’s Heavyweight champion and I’m walking out with my head held high and this championship still around my waist as the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion.”
Stevens saw this message sent to him on Friday night in Millersville, Tennessee, but he would take to the Nitros’ Noise segment to give his response in the controversial segment.
“Seventeen years you people have watched me make myself a star. I stood before you and took your heavyweight champion for 30 minutes and he didn’t pin me to the mat. He’s a damn good heavyweight champion. But I stood tall and I picked him up off the mat and shook his hand like a man. Rob Conway, you call yourself the Iron Man, well 60 minutes, let’s see what you got. Because you didn’t beat me in 30, you sure as hell aren’t going to beat me in 60.”
Who will walk away from the SAW Mill on Friday, July 26, 2013, as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion? Will Rob Conway continue to reign over the NWA or will Chase Stevens finally gain the gold that he has craved his entire career?
NWA Music City Showdown 2 will be at the SAW Mill at 1214 B Louisville Highway in Millersville, Tennessee. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a special 7:30 p.m. bell time. Tickets are $10. For more information on NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling, visit www.southernallstar.com.
