7/20 TNA House Show Overshadowed by ‘Paperwork’ Issues

Jul 21, 2013 - by Michael Riba

TNA ran a house show in Cape Girardeau, Missouri for the first time ever last night, and things could not have been worse for the company.

First, the results:
1. Bully Ray def. James Storm after a distraction from Devon
2. Devon def. Gunner after a distraction from Bully Ray
-James Storm cut a promo calling Team 3D ‘chickens’ and challenged them to a street fight for the Tag titles.
3. Samoa Joe def. Bobby Roode
4. TNA World Tag Team Championship Street Fight: James Storm and Gunner def. Team 3D
5. Jeff Hardy def. Kurt Angle

You’ll notice that only eight guys worked the show.

According to several online reports, the Missouri Athletic Commission would not allow Chris Sabin, Jay Bradley, Garett Bischoff, Wes Brisco, Gail Kim, and Miss Tessmacher to complete due to issues with their wrestling licenses.

TNA officials tried to make up for the problems by inviting all fans backstage after the show to meet wrestlers for free. However, Jeff Hardy charged $20 for a photo and fans could not get his autograph. This led to some of the people that paid $65 for VIP tickets to be upset that fans were getting what they paid for for free.

Several fans voiced their disapproval of the event on social media outlets. Here are a couple of excerpts of what some fans had to say:

“Fans could pay $20 to get a picture with Jeff Hardy as well – The VIP customers who shelled out almost $70 and were guaranteed first dibs at the Meet-and-Greet were being pushed back for people who were paying on the spot,” said our source. “I spent near two hours before the show to meet these wrestlers, and was forced to wait behind people who didn’t have the VIP package.”

“I felt really bad for everyone who tried to make sense of all the chaos … I saw people who had waited fifteen minutes for an autograph get pushed aside for people who just walked up. It was disappointing to say the least.”

Add this to the growing list of problems for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and I can’t help but begin to fear the worst for this organization.

If any other news from last night’s house show arises, we will have it right here on gerweck.net.
