Wrestling By the Numbers: Joey Ryan



TNA Wrestling has announced the release of veteran in-ring performer Joseph ‘Joey Ryan’ Meehan. The 33-year-old Los Angeles California native had spent the last year with the organization after first appearing in May of 2012 losing to Austin Aries in a TNA Gut Check Challenge match. Despite not being given a contract through the competition he was signed by TNA and feuded with both Al Snow and Rob Van Dam after joining the company. Joey Ryan had also been involved in a tag-team with Matt Morgan before the announcement of his release on July 3rd.

Joseph Meehan is a 13-year veteran of professional wrestling who has an extensive resume as a wrestler, booker / creative writer and trainer in the business. Meehan first debuted in the year 2000 after having been trained by Bobby Bradley and later Brian Kendrick, Tom Howard and Bryan Danielson. He has competed under the names Joey Ryan, Joey Shadow, Joey Hollywood, Joey Blalock, El Gallinero, Forsaken and Chase Walker. Meehan was previously one of 6-men who founded the popular independent group Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. He spent 9-years with the company from 2003-2012 working as a booker and becoming a former 1-Time PWG Champion and 1-Time PWG Tag-Team Champion. Meehan has also spent time working for numerous other promotions some of which include Ring Of Honor Wrestling, Wrestling Society X and Championship Wrestling From Hollywood. In 2008 he was a assistant trainer on Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling and had worked for years as a local talent at World Wrestling Entertainment events. Prior to signing with TNA he worked as a regular with Jeff Jarrett’s Ring Ka King promotion in India which was financed by Dixie Carter.
