Is the ROH champion WWE bound?

Apparently the Ring of Honor shows over the weekend, including the Best in the World iPPV and television tapings on Sunday, were the last scheduled appearances for current champion Jay Briscoe and his brother Mark.

The word backstage was that the former ROH tag team champions were “moving on to green pastures.” The Briscoe Brothers have had WWE try outs in the past, and WWE has expressed interest in other ROH talent such as Mike Bennett in recent weeks.

It was unclear if the Briscoes are taking time off from the company, or pursuing an opportunity to sign with WWE.

Or to the Main Event Mafia?

  2. Shane says:

The Briscoes are popular enough to POTENTIALLY get the Tag division over again. And worse comes to worst they at least get SOME TV time. Hopefully this is true.

Also I doubt they’d sign with TNA. There’s no way that TNA hasn’t contacted them in the past. Jay and Mark probably know what would happen if they went to TNA.

    WWE doesn’t need those nobodies.

  4. Drew says:

He better not leave until Elgin takes his title!

I was at both the iPPV and the TV tapings over the weekend and saw no indication that either Briscoe was on their way out…yeah, they did the injury angle with Mark and wrote him out of the cage match, but if ROH had any idea they were leaving, I’d think they’d have had Matt Hardy win the belt instead of Jay winning and Matt getting his heat back after.

If the Briscoes are truly done with ROH, then the future of ROH is bleak.

  7. Steve says:

They would be a perfect addition to the Wyatt Family. Especially with DEM beards. But seriously, they could be distant cousins of the Wyatt’s.
