World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the signing of former 1-Time WWE Champion, 1-Time ECW Champion and 1-Time TNA Champion Rob ‘Van Dam’ Szatkowski. The 42-year-old Battle Creek Michigan native had spent the past 3-years competing for TNA Wrestling where he was a main event world champion for the organization. Szatkowski signed with TNA in March of 2010 and had memorable feuds with the likes of A.J. Styles, Mr. Anderson, Abyss and others. He was one of a group of TNA wrestlers in 2011 who competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling as apart of the company’s talent exchange deal. Van Dam won the TNA X Division Championship in early 2013 and competed in the division until parting ways with TNA after losing the title.

Rob Szatkowski is a 24-year veteran of professional wrestling who first debuted in 1989 after having been trained by The Sheik. His first television appearance came prior to his debut as he appeared on WWE television in 1987 as a planted fan who kissed the feet of The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase to earn compensation. Szatkowski started his in-ring career working for numerous independent promotions including the United States Wrestling Association and South Atlantic Pro Wrestling. From 1992-1995 Szatkowski competed for both World Championship Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling before signing with Extreme Championship Wrestling in early 1996.

In ECW Rob Van Dam became one of the Paul Heyman’s top stars remaining with the company for 5-years until it’s original closure in 2001. He became known for his legendary reign as ECW Television Champion, his exciting tag-team battles with partner Sabu while being managed by Bill Alfonso and his string of 5-star matches with rival Jerry Lynn. Rob Van Dam signed with the WWE in 2001 and spent 6-years with the company eventually becoming a world champion. He was a major part of the WWE’s revival of ECW from 2005-2007 which saw him eventually win the ECW Championship. In 2007 Van Dam left the WWE to spend more time with his wife who was battling cancer, he reappeared at the WWE Royal Rumble in 2009 and also worked European wrestling tours before signing with TNA.
