Damien Wayne and Vordell Walker in the cage at The Gathering of the Champions
by Lekisha F. Oliver
The feud between NWA National Heavyweight Champion Damien Wayne and Vordell Walker will finish in a cage!
On Friday, June 14, 2013, Wayne and Walker will head to NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling’s The Gathering of the Champions. The duo have fought for the NWA National Heavyweight Championship at the SAW Mill before. With Wayne walking away with the title after a controversial match, Walker has went to the NWA officials and has demanded another shot at the NWA National Championship and at Damien Wayne. But this time, Vordell Walker wants Damien Wayne in a steel cage.
NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling’s management has granted that request and these two men will fight on Friday, June 14, at the SAW Mill.
But Wayne has said that this is the last time he will face Walker at the SAW Mill for his championship. Wayne issued the following statement:
“The famous SAW Mill. It’s famous because the last time Damien Wayne was there you experienced greatness before your eyes. You see I am the NWA National Heavyweight Champion. Well, June 14th, Vordell Walker, you seem to be my shadow; a throne in my side. You see for two years, me and you ran up and down the east cost and we tore each other apart. But you see just like that night at the SAW Mill, I walked out night in and night out with my hand raised. Vordell you want this right here. You want what I have a tight grip on. You want this NWA National Heavyweight Championship bad enough that you begged and you begged NWA and NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling to give you a cage match. Vordell, what you have to understand is that I am right at home when it comes to stepping inside a steel cage. So Vordell you get ready. You lace up them boots real tight, son! SAW Mill you be ready! June 14th, the experience is going to be live. The experience is going to set the SAW Mill on Fire. Vordell, take care son.”
However, Vordell Walker was none too pleased with the statement issued from Damien Wayne. He sent the following rebuttal:
“Damien Wayne, here is my rebuttal to you – this coming Friday night, June 14th in Millersville, Tennessee, history is going to be made. I look at this battle coming up this Friday night as war. And personally, I believe that no one wins in a war. Now when I step into the cage this Friday night in Millersville, Tennessee, I’m expecting to be beaten, bloodied, and possibly crippled. But the only thing that is going to make a difference when the match is overwith is that I am leaving the SAW Mill the NWA National champion. For the last three years, Damien, you and I have been up and down the east coast beating the hell out of each other. Now this Friday night is going to be no different. But see damien there is a difference between the Vordell you knew three years ago and the Vordell that you know now. Right now, Damien, I can’t take anything away from you. You’re at the top of your game. You’re good. But the Vordell Walker that is sitting in front of you right now is destined to be great! I’m red hot right now and I’m on fire and this Friday night, I’m going to be a lot stronger than you, I’m going to kick out a lot stronger than you,I’m going to take just a little bit more than you, and at the end of that match, when the bell rings and that cage opens and my hand is raised, NWA president Bruce Tharpe, is going to hand me the NWA National title. The overlooking of Vordell Walker stops this Friday night. “
