Vince McMahon’s solution to facing NBA playoff games on Monday nights

Vince McMahon now wants the arena booking department to look at the 2014 NBA playoff schedule when it ends up being released and see what Monday nights are possible game sixes and sevens in the later rounds. The idea is to try and book Raw on those nights in cities like Philadelphia, Madison Square Garden, The Izod Center, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto or other markets with the idea they get the jump by starting at 8PM ET, reports The Wrestling Observer.

This guy has been going against monday night football since I’ve been born. And now he has an epiphany on how to battle basketball?? C’mon man!!!! The product sucks/ ok ill say maybe in a transitional stage with some new young wreslters that I think are freakin awesome and are gonna be big time

This is a non-story! NBA Finals will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, not Mondays. Check the schedule, bud.

  3. Deathedge says:

And if the Bulls, Sixers, or Knicks are playing the gate is screwed. Seriously, only way this works is if Vince already knew who was in the playoffs.

  4. Shockmaster Suplex says:

I wish Vince would look at ways of improving and innovating his product rather than worrying about astronomically high ratings and pleasing the advertisers, it’s time strip the cheese.

Hate to break it to the Observer, but this “newz” is impossible. Schedules for each round are announced after the completion of the previous round. WWE does not book venues for Raw 10 days in advance. A little research or common sense would have helped them when making up this story. Must have been a slow day…

  6. Zachery Badman says:

Bulls Knicks will be the playoffs but not sixers so Philly is good

  7. T says:

Or he can put out a better product. This is some idea I would expect from TNA.

Or he can bring back the XFL and put that on vs the playoffs.

WWE has been in a Transition since 2004.

They kept getting sidetracked. Cena & Batista mini Ruthless Agression Era/PG then into PG completely then into the boring years 2009 & 2010. Only exceptions is HBK Taker matches in those years.

No new era has really started. It almost happened with Punk in 2011. But then HHH took the momentum away. The only effect Punk really had was getting more swears in to the build-up to Wrestlemania matches to try and make the matches seem more interesting.

There are some new talents that have come into WWE and gotten big since then but there are still some bad talents that should be released. I.e. Hornswoggle & Khali. Maybe get a few more actual talents.

  10. Mr. Black says:

@Zachery Badman watch what you say. The sixers are going to be better than ever next year, especially if they snag josh smith.

  11. dave taker says:

Vince should be focusing on his own product rather than relying on Basketball schedules to help his ratings.
