Detailed 5/31 WWE Smackdown Recap

Smackdown opens with The Shield’s music hitting and Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins descending from the stands towards the ring.
Match #1: Kane (w/Daniel Bryan) vs. Seth Rollins (w/Roman Reigns)
Rollins gets Kane in a side-headlock, but Kane flips him over to escape. Rollins comes off the ropes, but Kane levels him with a shoulder tackle. Kane sends Rollins into the corner and charges, but Rollins goes over the top of Kane and comes off the ropes. Kane drops Rollins with a big boot and goes for the cover, but Rollins kicks out at one. Kane delivers a delayed vertical suplex to Rollins and goes for another cover, but Rollins kicks out at two. Kane applies a headlock down on the mat, but Rollins fights out. Kane slams Rollins down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Rollins kicks out at one. Rollins takes Kane down and goes to work on his knee. Rollins drops a couple of elbows on Kane’s knee and keeps control of the big man’s knee. Kane catches Rollins on the top rope and goes for a chokeslam, but Rollins reverses and DDT’s Kane. Rollins goes for the cover, but Kane kicks out at two.
Rollins continues to work over Kane’s knee, but Kane powers out and power slams Rollins to the mat. Kane goes up top, but Rollins stops him. Kane knocks Rollins to the mat and clotheslines him from the top rope. Reigns gets on the apron, but Kane knocks him out. Bryan distracts Rollins behind the referee’s back and Kane hits the choke slam for the win.
Match #2: Daniel Bryan (w/Kane) vs. Roman Reigns (w/Seth Rollins)
Reigns beats Bryan down and stomps away on him in the corner. He backs away and comes back after Bryan, but Bryan connects with a drop-toe hold and sends Reigns face-first into the turnbuckle. Bryan kicks Reigns repeatedly in the corner and drags him to the center of the ring. Bryan wraps Reigns’ leg up and delivers a series of forearms to his face. Bryan goes for the cover, but Reigns kicks out. Bryan takes Reigns to the corner and kicks him again and then takes him down with a leg whip. Bryan kicks Reigns in the back and drops his elbow onto Reigns’ shoulder plex a couple of times. Reigns comes back and slams Bryan down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Bryan kicks out at two.
We’re back and Bryan is trying to fight back into the match. Bryan comes off the ropes, but Reigns takes him down with a big clothesline. Reigns goes for the cover, but Bryan kicks out at two. Reigns comes off the ropes and knocks Bryan clear across the ring with a shoulder tackle and goes for the cover, but Bryan kicks out at two. Reigns charges Bryan in the corner, but Bryan moves and Reigns goes face-first into the turnbuckle. Bryan dropkicks Reigns and then delivers a series of kicks in the corner. Bryan backs away and connects with a running dropkick on Reigns. Bryan goes for the cover, but Reigns kicks out at two. Bryan kicks Reigns in the chest and goes for a kick in the head, but Reigns ducks under. Reigns sends Bryan to the corner, but Bryan moves and takes Reigns down into the No Lock. Reigns goes towards the ropes, and Rollins pushes the bottom rope into Reigns’ grasp. Kane delivers a big boot to Rollins and Reigns delivers a right hand to Kane. Kane answers with a right hand of his own, but the referee sees it and calls for the bell.
Winner via disqualification: Roman Reigns.
After the match, Bryan and Kane argue in the ring as Reigns and Rollins exit triumphantly.
Damien Sandow did another mental challenge segment in the ring. He ripped Edmonton and went to explain the rules but was interrupted by Sheamus. Sandow cheated in the challenge and Sheamus laid him out with a Brogue Kick.
Match #3: Kofi Kingston vs. Ryback
Ryback came out in an ambulance before the match. Squash match. Ryback got the pin fall after Shell Shocked.
After the match, Ryback slammed Kingston through three tables, and Kingston was stretchered out.
Match #4: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Big E Langston (w/AJ Lee)
This was the same match we’ve seen from these two since Dolph Ziggler’s injury. Langston hit the Big Ending and got the pin fall.
Winner: Big E Langston
Match #5: Curtis Axel (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Sin Cara
Axel goes right to work on Sin Cara and delivers a big back-breaker. Axel takes Sin Cara down to the mat and drives his knees into Sin Cara’s back. Sin Cara comes back and kicks Axel and takes him down with an arm-drag from the top rope. Sin Cara kicks Axel in the head and connects with a cross-body. Sin Cara goes for a springboard back-elbow, but Axel nails Sin Cara in the back of the head with his forearm. Zxel nails the Perfect Plex for the pin fall.
Winner: Curtis Axel.
Chris Jericho comes to the ring and cuts a promo about his match with CM Punk at Payback. Cody Rhodes’ music hits and he makes his way to the ring.
Match #6: Chris Jericho vs. Cody Rhodes
They tie up and Jericho takes Rhodes down with a dropkick. Jericho clotheslines Rhodes over the top rope and then delivers a baseball slide. Jericho goes to the outside after Rhodes. Jericho slams Rhodes head-first into the barricade and then tosses him into the ring. Rhodes counters with a kick to Jericho’s midsection and then he drapes Jericho over the top rope. Rhodes goes for the cover, but Jericho kicks out at two. Rhodes stomps away on Jericho, but Jericho comes back with a series of chops to Rhodes’ chest. Jericho sends Rhodes into the corner and charges, but Rhodes moves out of the way. Rhodes gets Jericho on the ropes and kicks him in the midsection. Rhodes goes for the cover, but Jericho kicks out at two. Rhodes works over Jericho’s arm down on the mat. Jericho fights out and takes Rhodes down with a couple shoulder tackles before Rhodes sends him over the top rope. Jericho lands on the apron and goes up top. Jericho sledges Rhodes from the top rope and delivers a running bulldog. Jericho attempts the Walls of Jericho on Rhodes, but Rhodes powers out and sends Jericho down to the mat. Jericho tries to go over the top of Rhodes in the corner, but Rhodes catches him and delivers the Alabama Slam. Rhodes goes for the cover, but Jericho kicks out at two. Rhodes goes to the top and dives, but Jericho catches him in the midsection. Jericho takes Rhodes down to the mat and goes for the Lionsault, but Rhodes gets his knees up. Rhodes goes for Cross Rhodes, but Jericho counters and goes for the Walls, but Rhodes rolls him up but only gets a two count. Rhodes comes off the ropes for the Disaster Kick, but Jericho catches him and locks in the Walls and Rhodes taps out.
Winner: Chris Jericho.
We see the vignette for The Wyatt Family.
Match #7: Dean Ambrose vs. Randy Orton
They tie up and Ambrose backs Orton into the corner. Ambrose beats down Orton until the referee backs him away. Orton delivers a series to kicks to Ambrose, but Ambrose beats him down in the corner again. Ambrose keeps control of the match and sends Orton into the opposite corner. Orton comes out of the corner with a furious clothesline on Ambrose. Orton takes Ambrose to the corner and delivers ten right hands and then an uppercut to send Ambrose to the mat. Orton goes for the cover, but Ambrose kicks out at one. Ambrose comes back with a few rights hands and sends Orton off the ropes. Orton takes Ambrose down with the Thesz Press and a delivers a series of rights down on the mat. Ambrose rolls to the outside, but Orton goes out after him. Orton catches Ambrose with a clothesline and then a back-drop onto the barricade. Orton slams Ambrose’s head into the apron and then tosses him back into the ring. Ambrose elbows Orton in the head and rolls to the outside. Orton goes out after him, but Ambrose slams him shoulder-first into the steel steps. Ambrose picks Orton up and delivers a clothesline on the outside.
Back in the right, Ambrose has Orton in a headlock. Orton fights out, but Ambrose delivers a knee to the midsection. Ambrose goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at one. Ambrose continues his beat down or Orton and backs him into the corner. Orton fights back and delivers an uppercut, but Ambrose gets him in a sleeper hold. Orton counters the sleeper hold and drops Ambrose to the mat. Orton delivers the power slam and sets Ambrose up for the middle-rope DDT. Ambrose counters and drapes Orton over the middle rope and goes to the outside. Ambrose goes up top, but Orton tries to stop him. Ambrose shoves Orton down and dives off, but Orton counters with a dropkick. Orton goes for the cover, but Ambrose kicks out at two. Orton sends Ambrose into the ropes and delivers the middle-rope DDT. Orton sets up for the RKO, but Ambrose slips out of the ring as Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns enter it, causing the disqualification.
Winner via disqualification: Randy Orton.
After the match, The Shield beats down Orton until Team Hell No makes the save. Daniel Bryan single-handedly takes out every member of The Shield.
Smackdown comes to a close with Randy Orton and Kane holding Bryan’s hands in the air and the crowd chanting “YES! YES! YES!” with Daniel Bryan.
