5/17/13 Friday Night Smackdown Coverage

May 17, 2013 - by Michael Riba

Smackdown opens up with a review package of Dolph Ziggler’s concussion, and the announcement that Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger will face off in an “I Quit” Match at Extreme Rules, with the winner becoming the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. It then transitions into the feud between Randy Orton and The Big Show, as they will be guests on MizTV tonight. We go into the arena in Wichita, Kansas, where The Miz is already in the ring.

The Miz introduces Randy Orton, and then The Big Show. Miz says their match at Extreme Rules is one of the most anticipated on the show, and then shows a replay package of Orton RKO’ing Show on last week’s Smackdown. Miz asks Show is that was a preview of what is going to happen at Extreme Rules. Show says he expected a comment like that from Miz, and says the only way Orton can RKO him is from behind. Show says anything goes on Sunday, and the only weapon he needs is on the end of his wrist. He says people won’t remember an RKO, but a TKO instead. Orton says that’s an entertaining story with an inaccurate ending. Orton says Show will not beat him in his hometown on Sunday, and tells Show to trust him that everyone will remember how The Viper struck down The Giant. Orton warns Show that he may not get back up as Jack Swagger’s music hits and he comes to the stage with Zeb Colter. Colter says the only thing the people will remember will be Swagger making Alberto Del Rio say “I quit.” Del Rio’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring with Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio tells Colter to shut up. He says everyone is sick and tired of hearing Colter talk, and says the only thing people will remember is…and he hands the mic to Rodriguez who does the “Albertoooo Del Riiooooo” bit. Mark Henry’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. He says the thing that will be remembered on Sunday is him beating down Sheamus like no one has done before. Sheamus’ music hits and he joins the men in the ring. Sheamus says he is going to leave Henry lying in the ring, and then charges the ring with a strap. The heels bail out as Del Rio, Sheamus, and Orton stand tall as we head to a commercial.

We’re back and we see a replay of what just went down in the ring. Theodore Long comes out and announces a Six-Man Tag Team main event, with the team of The Big Show, Mark Henry, and Jack Swagger facing the team of Randy Orton, Sheamus, and Alberto Del Rio.
