Is Antonio Cesaro too boring?

Former United States champion Antonio Cesaro’s push has tailed off in recent weeks not because of any backstage heat, but because top people within the company feel that he’s lacking in personality, reports There are officials in WWE who believe Cesaro should be headlining but the higher ups believe that he’s “boring,” thus explaining the demotion.

Oh but watching Cena do the same routine week after week is just so riveting to watch WWE Executives. At least this guy has actual talent.

  2. ak91 says:

I will admit, he’s not a master of the mic, but he’s more entertaining than half the people here

  3. Iamareal'Murican says:

or Robo Orton doing the same tired pose and RKO every week?

  4. Ian says:

Same thing happened to Lance Storm and William regal despite being two of the most talented wrestlers around.

  5. RJ Ace says:

The jury is still out on Cesaro…I just think the biggest problem is that he was saddled with the overused and generic anti-American heel. It’s lazy booking and WWE should blame themselves for it.

  6. RJ Ace says:

Nobody can get over a yodeling gimmick either…NOBODY.

  7. McHater says:

If you need anymore proof that this company is run by idiots then just consider how much they push Fandango, a gimmick based on Ballroom dancing, that is only over because people were mocking it. Does WWE even know who their audience is? Bring in Hero and give us the Kings of Wrestling.

  8. `J says:

    Kings of Wrestling, problem solved.

  9. Shockmaster Suplex says:

Cheers to the Kings of Wrestling!

  10. Scott II says:

Boring?!? Who the f*** said that?!?

  11. kali760 says:

I have to agree with J if they find him boring bring up Chris Hero from NXT and reform Kings of Wrestling that way there both utilized and it’s also another Tag Team

  12. Fisha695 says:

He is boring, however to me it’s not a “I want to change the channel” boring, it’s a “throwback to the good old days” boring. In a world of overinflated cartoon characters it’s refreshing to have that throwback stiff character in there amongst all the jesters.

It’s kind of strange too because his entire push was based on him being a boring, no frills, come in kick ass then leave kind of wrestler.

  13. Paul says:

Cesaro is one of my favorites on the whole roster, if not THE favorite! I think he’s good on the mic, and a great worker. He’s prolly not big enough or 80’s wrestler looking enough for the highups to be bothered to do much of anything with.

He’s not over, because they haven’t put him over on anyone. Same with several wrestlers in WWE. Give him a high profile win or two, and thing’s would change.

Note, neither the US, nor the IC titles have enough credibility to help put anyone over, so relying on those is not a sufficient method.

  14. Jau says:

    WWE is too boring.

  15. Jono K says:

Well pick a better gimmick for him then, sheesh, the guy is 100 x more talented then 90% of the roster.

  16. Skeeter Valentine says:

They always find a way to screw up a good thing. Claudio is one of the top 4-5 in general ability and just absolute power. He’s going to end up in TNA and his career in the “major leagues” will be a bust.

  17. DBRude says:

    “WWE is too boring.”

I second that, Jau. When Cesaro/Castagnoli debuted, he was like a breath of fresh air, and still is! He’s a solid wrestler in a world of canned, “sports entertainers”. If they find him boring, they must not be watching his matches.

Come to think of it… if they find their product entertaining, they must not be watching anybody else’s matches either!

As for Cesaro… he’s main event material EASILY!

  18. Chicago Made Punk says:

when you say “boring” the only one who comes in to my mind it’s Randy Orton.
