WWE Smackdown Recap 5/10/13

-WWE Smackdown 5/10/13  

PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC

Commentators: Michael Cole, Josh Matthews, and JBL

 

The ring is all set up for a HIGHLIGHT REEL segment as Chris Jericho is already in the ring. The fans chant “Y2J” breaks out as Jericho welcomes everyone and brings out his guest, Ryback. Jericho says he normally likes stir things up on the Highlight Reel but when it comes to John Cena, he knows where Ryback is coming from. Ryback says he doesn’t need his approval. Jericho says it’s his show and he will have to listen and mentions how many times Ryback has been screwed out of the WWE title. Ryback says “What’s your point?”  Jericho mentions Ryback Rules and asks what are Ryback’s rules. He says he is sure it’s not to eat cars but he feels the rules mean Ryback will do whatever it takes to win the title. Jericho says he is a six time champion and said he developed a chip on his shoulder that was bigger than The Big Show. Ryback gets mad at Jericho for judging him, Jericho says he is not but the Jerichoholics are which brings out the boo birds from the crowd.

 

Jericho mentions how he beat Rock and Austin in the same night to become champion but says Ryback will lose the respect of the WWE Universe if he beats a one legged John Cena at Extreme Rules. Ryback says Jericho talks too much and asks what makes him think he won’t drop him, right now. Jericho says he can see in his eyes that he won’t to a damn thing. Teddy Long comes out and says the only way this is going down is in tonight’s main event. Long makes the match official and Ryback drops Jericho with a sucker punch and walks off with a smile.

-US Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Cody Rhodes (Non-Title)

After some waist lock exchanges and hip toss attempts, Kofi hits a deep arm drag and Rhodes gets to the ropes and elbows Kofi as the referee breaks it up and chokes him in the ropes. Rhodes hits Kofi with a knee to the mid-section that sends him up and over and follows up with a face plant suplex for a two count. Rhodes applies a hammer lock with Kofi’s arm wrapped around his knee. Kofi arm drags his way out of it and hits two chops and a dropkick. Rhodes rolls through a sunset flip attempt from Kofi and knees him in the face for a two count. Kofi gets whipped into the corner and gets his foot up as Rhodes charges in. Kofi hits a cross body from the top rope but Rhodes rolls through and gets a close near fall. Kofi blocks the Cross Rhodes maneuver, misses Trouble in Paradise, Rhodes goes for the Disaster Kick but Kofi catches him in midair with Trouble in Paradise for the 1-2-3.

 

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Clips are shown from Raw featuring the destruction of HHH’s office by Brock Lesnar. A face to face encounter between the two is announced for this coming Monday on Raw.

 

Renee Young interviews Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter. Colter says Dolph Ziggler is a person with questionable moral character and says we know what kind of experience, that criminale Del Rio, has with ladders. Says Swagger made a statement on Raw and is going to make another statement when he beats up blondie’s body guard, Big E Langston. Colter says they are one step closer to achieving their goals, the American way which are winning the world title and taking their country back. Swagger ends the segment with “WE THE PEOPLE.”

 

Big E Langston w/ Dolph Ziggler &AJ Lee vs. Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Colter

Alberto Del Rio joins the crew for commentary as a video is shown of Ricardo being attacked with the ladder by Swagger. Before the match gets started, Del Rio grabs a ladder from under the ring and slides it in the ring. Ziggler runs for it but Swagger kicks him in the face. Langston and Swagger play tug of war with the ladder until Colter hits Langston from behind with a shot that has no effect which gives Swagger the opening he needs to hit Langston with the ladder and clothesline himout of the ring. Ziggler hits Swagger with a forearm to the jaw. Swagger picks up the ladder but Ziggler dropkicks the ladder into Swagger, knocking him out of the ring. Ziggler hits a baseball slide drop kick on the ladder which hits Colter and Del Rio comes in and hits a side kick to the face. Del Rio grabs the ladder and knocks down Ziggler with the ladder and goes outside of the ring and throws the ladder at Swagger. The crowd is chanting “Si, Si, Si” as Del Rio climbs the ladder and holds up the title belt.

Daniel Bryan w/ Kane vs. Dean Ambrose w/ Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns

Bryan stomps Ambrose in the corner to start things off but Ambrose quickly turns things around and rakes Bryan’s eyes across the top rope. Bryan gets sent into the ropes, reverses Ambrose and connects with a knee that sends the Shield member up and over. Bryan delivers some stiff kicks to the back and follows up with a knee drop and European uppercuts in the corner. Ambrose turns things around with some forearms to the face and rams Bryan’s head into the top turnbuckle. Bryan comes back with a flying clothesline and delivers some stiff kicks to the chest. Ambrose retreats to the floor but Bryan connects with a plancha. Rollins and Reigns look to interfere but Kane makes them back off.

Ambrose drops Bryan, throat first, across the top rope and applies a submission maneuver until he lets go of it and hits an intense clothesline. Ambrose applies a trapezius hold while kneeing Bryan in the back. The crowd is chanting for Bryan as the former world champion fights to his feet, creates separation with elbows but gets caught coming off the ropes with a knee to the mid-section. Ambrose slaps Bryan a couple of times and hits a running dropkick for a two count. Ambrose charges into the corner but Bryan moves causing Ambrose to hurt his shoulder.Bryan hits a running dropkick of his own and hits several stiff kicks to the chest. Bryan perches Ambrose upside down in the corner and hits a running dropkick to the chest for a two count. Ambrose hits a backslide for a two count but Bryan drops him with a kick to the head and hits a missile drop kick from the top rope for a two count.

Bryan goes for another kick but Ambrose ducks, lifts him up for a belly to back suplex and plants him face first for a close near fall. Ambrose measures Bryan and lands several knee to the head but Bryan snatches the NO Lock out of nowhere. Rollins goes to break it up but Kane stops him while Reigns breaks it up, behind the referee’s back, just as Ambrose was about to tap out. Rollins and Reigns brawl with Kane on the floor while Kofi Kingston comes in and pounds on Ambrose as the referee calls for the bell. Kofi throws Ambrose out of the ring while Kane sends Rollins and Reigns into the crowd. Team Hell No and Kofi stand proud in the ring and tell The Shield that not it’s three on three.

Footage courtesy of WWE.com shows Mark Henry hooked up to a harness and pulling a truck that weighs 55 thousand pounds. Damian Sandow and The Prime Time Players cheer him on as he successfully pulls the truck to the finish line.

Photos of Sheamus’ back are shown focusing on the deep welts he suffered at the hands of Mark Henry and it is announced that their match at Extreme Rules is now a Strap Match.

 

Mark Henry is back in the parking lot and, strapped to a harness and is about to pull two tractor trailers. Matt Striker gets a quick word and Henry says there have been a lot of strong men but no one on God’s green Earth has pulled two trailers. He says this is an example of what he is going to do to Sheamus at Extreme Rules. The two trucks weigh 100,000 pounds. He has difficulty and Striker asks if he can do it? Henry yells at Striker and tells him to get out of his way and Henry pulls the trucks 20 feet and we have a new world record. Henry yells “THAT’S WHAT I DO” as Darren Young hands him some water and Titus O’Neil tells the paramedics to go home. Lillian Garcia announces the new record and Henry gets quite the applause.

Renee Young interviews Randy Orton regarding his being knocked out by The Big Show on Raw. Orton says he vouched for Big Show at WrestleMania and got knocked out for it. He says the bigger the prey, the bigger the bite and at Extreme Rules, there will be no antidote for what he does to the giant.

 

-The Big Show vs. Sweet T w/ Brodus Clay and The Funkadactyls

Show unloads with rights and lefts but Sweet T turns things around with some rights and lefts of his own until Big Show hits him with the WMD punch for the pin.

 

Winner: The Big Show

 

Brodus Clay checks on Sweet T and Big Show attacks him. Brodus fight back until Show connects with a spear. Show gets ready to deliver another WMD until Randy Orton runs in and delivers an RKO.

 

AJ bumps into Kaitlyn backstage and Kaitlyn says she got a text from her secret admirer. AJ makes fun of her “man arms” and asks if she is really texting her mother and asks her to say hi to her mother, Susan. Kaitlyn asks what if Dolph Ziggler is the secret admirer and says he probably ready for a real woman. AJ says a real woman should not bench press more than her man. Kaitlyn says a real woman doesn’t soulless eyes and the body of a ten year old. Natalya comes in and asks AJ if there is a problem. AJ smiles and says “Later, gentlemen” as she leaves. Kaitlyn asks if The Great Khali found out anything. The camera turns to Khali wearing a Rey Mysterio mask yelling “Booyaka, Booyaka, 619” takes the mask off and says “It’s me, baby.” Kaitlyn says this is super sweet but he doesn’t have to wear a costume. Natalya looks at Khali and tells him he doesn’t have to go undercover or look like Cody Rhodes as Khali is sporting a ridiculous fake moustache.

-Chris Jericho vs. Ryback

They lock up several times and Ryback out powers him at every turn. Jericho gets back dropped over the top rope, lands on the apron but Ryback knocks him to the floor. Rtback throws him back in the ring but Jericho kicks him on the face and stomps him in the corner until Ryback shoves him down to the mat. Ryback puts his foot across Jericho’s throat, chops him in the corner and applies a rear chinlock. Jericho fights out of it, connects with a flying forearm, and hits a second rope drop kick and sends the monster out of the ring. Ryback gets on the apron and jumps back down with a smile on his face as the crowd boos him.

Ryback is putting the boots to Jericho after sending him into the post, shoulder first. Ryback lands an elbow drop and covers Jericho for a two count and applies a reverse a bear hug. Jericho forearms his way out of the hold  but gets caught with a spinebuster off the ropes for a two count. Ryback stands over Jericho, grabs his throat and repeatedly slams him down to the canvas. Ryback applies a rear chinlock while mockingly yelling “Ryback, Ryback” to the crowd. He whips Jericho into the corner, charges in but Jericho gets the boot up and hits a double ax handle from the top rope. Jericho goes for the bulldog but Ryback catches him for a powerslam, misses an elbow drop, and gets hit with a lionsault for a two count. Jericho goes for a Code Breaker but Ryback catches him and slams him down hard.

 

Ryback delivers a powerbomb and follows up with a big body slam. Ryback goes for a meathook clothesline but Jericho kicks out his knee and attempts the Wall of Jericho. Ryback powers out and hits a fall away slam and a meat hook  clothesline. Ryback gets him up for Shell Shock but Jericho escapes and applies the Walls of Jericho. Ryback is able to crawl to the bottom rope and the referee breaks the hold. Jericho can’t believe Ryback made it to the ropes. Jericho hits the Code Breaker which sends Ryback to the floor. Jericho goes after him but Ryback grabs the tights and sends Jericho into the protective barricade then crotched him the steel post and the referee calls for the bell.

 

Winner via DQ: Chris Jericho

 

Jericho is in some serious pain as the referee checks on him. Ryback heads to the locker room, turns around, comes back to ringside and clotheslines Jericho over the announcers table. The show ends as Ryback walks away.
