Mickie James: “It’s so frustrating when you know that you’re one of the best in the world”

from Chris Kelly:

Mickie James (@MickieJames) was interviewed by Chris Kelly (@H2HCrelly) on this weeks Running The Ropes (www.facebook.com/runningtheropes.radio) to promote her new music album “Somebody’s Gonna Pay” Below Mickie are a few highlights

On her frustrations regarding her lack of TV time over the past year:
“I know I’ve seemed a little bit frustrated as of late in some of my promos and stuff, but I honestly feel that for the past year I’ve probably been on less than 10 shows. I’ve barely done anything. It’s awesome to be able to come back and win the number one contendership and go for the title, but I’m sick and tired of feeling like I’m sitting at home and watching all these other people. I did get injured and I was sick, but I was already off TV when I got hurt.

“It’s so frustrating when you know that you’re one of the best in the world, and you’re sitting at home. I love going out there and making magic and telling a story, but I don’t love pretending that I’m okay sitting at home when I’m not. I’m just being real and being honest about it. It’s not me trying to be this awful person. I’m the one who has to look at myself in the mirror and if I’m not happy with what I’m doing or not doing, then I’m the one who has to face that. So that’s kind of where I’m at. I know people question that like ‘Oh are you turning heel?’ And I’m like ‘No, not really. I’m just being honest.”

On the forgotten state of the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship:
“I don’t understand the logic behind that because in my opinion, besides the X Division Championship, the female tag team championship is the only thing we have that nobody else has. I think our ladies’ division is so unique and so different that it gives you something else to fight for. I don’t know why they’re sitting around ODB and EY’s waists, and they’re not even defending them and nobody else is getting a shot at them. There’s no storyline; there’s nothing wrapped around them. They just kind of won the belts and that was it. Then we forgot about them.

“I don’t think we have enough girls right now to even have a tag division, unfortunately. But there are enough girls in our circle that we can use. In my opinion, it would be awesome if there were more full-time contracted girls because not only would it give us more girls to work with in the title picture, but also in the tag division being able to pair up with the right people and kind of see who works together and who doesn’t, what’s going to make money and what’s not, what kind of gimmicks and characters like Jumping Bomb Angels and Glamour Girls – it all works.”

On her popularity compared to Velvet Sky:
“I was glad that Velvet was back; I thought it was awesome. But what was the point in bringing me back [in December] if you were just going to bring her back a week later and then I was going to sit at home? It didn’t make any sense to me unless it would have worked into some kind of storyline or something like that. It still could, you never know.

“Velvet started in TNA and that’s where she built her fan base. She’s got hardcore TNA fans, whereas I have hardcore Mickie James fans. I don’t mean to take anything away from her because she does have hardcore Velvet Sky fans, but I brought 80-90 percent of my fan base with me. I do have a larger audience, but she has a larger TNA loyal fan base.”

  1. Adam says:

    there are Mickie James fans?

  2. Daniel Bryan says:

Fans but they’re more like people that want to have sex with Mickie James so the followed her to TNA.

  3. -J- says:

heel crazy mickie in wwe was nice…maybe she should bring that out on velvet in tna.

  4. Adurka Durk says:

I thought she was the best in anal porn.

  5. Nick says:

So nobody likes Mickie? Shes one of the best women wrestlers around. This is crazy that she is being buried. She needs to come back to the WWE. I know not a whole lot of people like women in wrestling but she is a bright spot. I know we dont have Lita and Trish anymore but Mickie did have a hell of a run with Trish and not many women could pull that off.

  6. xyu says:

A legend in her own mind……..

  7. Deathedge says:

The fact is, she is more talented then ATLEAST half of the Knockouts. Seeing how TNA has flat out wasted her and, well, the division as a whole, she would be better off if TNA gave her her walking pap-…

    Wait… No… WWE would waste her too…

For the record, I love how you guys are deriding her for being confident in her (very capable) in ring skills while all she is really saying is she wants to work. If this were AJ Lee, Awesome Kong, or even Velvet Sky, you all would be saying that they are beinh wasted instead of bashing them.

  8. James says:

Didn’t Mickie also start in TNA? Long before her WWE run?

  9. Dude Love says:

Don’t really think she did enough in her 2003 TNA run for that really to matter. Only memorable thing I remember about her during her inital tenure was being in the Gathering with Raven. The Mickie James that people know now was concieved during her time with the WWE and made her worth snatching up by TNA.

  10. Wow says:

At the end of the day you either sit at home with WWE and get paid well, or you sit at home with TNA and don’t get paid well. Frankly I think she wold do much better with the NWA or ROH. I mean, if she really had these “fans” they would follow her there too. Bottom line is yes, she is a great, and not a one trick or tricked up pony. She isn’t eye candy, she can wrestle. So go where they wrestle and get a contract there.

  11. -J- says:

I like Mickie James and wouldn’t mind seeing hr make a return to the land of the half assed underutilized divas.

  12. Deathedge says:

    @-J-

I actually wouldn’t either… BUUUUUUUTTTT then I think of the “Piggy James” storyline and just prey that she gives ROH (whose women division would get a huge boost from her being there)

  13. DonTony says:

Her new album is “Someone’s Gonna Pay”? Ironic, seeing as how she was begging fans for money to fund her previous “album”. And what’s with her dressing like a dyke all the time? Get back to the trailer, you trashbag.
