It’s funny, the things I used to consider great back then are kinda played out these days.
mick foleys cheap pops, the rocks whole schtick, dx’s toilet humour, anything Vince says in that fake ass gruff voice. I think crowd participation helped make those things awesome and there doesn’t seem to be much of that these days.
But as far as great in the golden age thru attitude era , Jake the snake, razor ramon, the rock, mick foley, Paul bearer, jimmy hart, Mr. Perfect, bobby Heenan, Jesse Ventura, stone cold, hulk hogan, dusty Rhodes, Ric flair and arn Anderson,

  6. Saxon says:

Road Dogg for sure. Jake the Snake should be up there as well.

  13. MC Live says:

  14. Scott II says:

Piper, Jericho, Flair, The Rock, and how about we throw a manager in my top 5.:. Bobby Heenan.

  15. Zach says:

    1. Ric Flair 2. The Rock 3. Jake The Snake Roberts 4. Chris Jericho 5. Stone Cold Steve Austin 6. Road Dogg Jessie James 7. Ravishing Rick Rude 8. Mankind/Catus Jack/Dude Love/Mick Foley 9. Bubba Ray Dudley 10. Jeff Jarrett 11. Paul Heymen 12. Raven 13. Diamond Dallas Page 14. Kevin Nash(original n.W.o run) 15. Razor Ramone are my favorites from the late 80’s to the Attitude Era. With Magnum T.A, Eddy Guerrero(early WCW days), The Nasty Boys, and Hulk Hogan getting honorable mentions for being of lesser value in my opinion. No matter how much marks popped for them, I could never get past the fact that they sucked on the stick.

  17. -J- says:

Dean Malenko…or Bastion Booger, Sid was exceptional as well.

  18. Jim Helwig says:

    The Ultimate Warrior.

  19. Jamie says:

No love for Raven? Not saying he’d be top of the list, but he’s up there

  20. Greg says:

Catch any Ric Flair or Dusty Rhodes interview in the 80’s. They were the innovators of trash talking and catch phrases that we saw during the Attitude Era and today. The Rock and Jericho were the two best in the Attitude Era followed by Steve Austin, Road Dogg Jessie James and DDP

  21. Paul says:

Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Bobby Heenan, Jake Roberts, Rick Rude, Ultimate Warrior, Ted Dibiase, Roddy Piper, then Austin, Foley, Rock, Jericho…

  22. Jerrod Sullivan says:

I don’t see Raven on anyone’s list.. Raven deserve to be up there..

    Chris Jericho
    Ric Flair

  25. Kid Vicious says:

Jesse Ventura takes some beating. But as his in-ring career ended before “the late 80’s” as the topic suggests, I’d have to look at Jake Roberts. People like Hogan and Macho Man were absolutely fantastic, but there were a lot of loud, shouty, crazy’s in the 80’s. Jake had a real menacing calm to his promo’s. Personally I think the guys from this era were better; their promo’s were much more off the cuff rather than the scripted promo’s from later on. No doubt The Rock and Jericho can talk, but it’s a lot easier when it’s written for you.
