4/23 WWE house show results from Nottingham, England

Apr 23, 2013 - by Steve Gerweck

1. R-Truth beat Heath Slater.

They did the vote for whether A.J. Lee should be allowed to appear at ringside.

2. Michael McGillicutty beat Brad Maddox. Maddox announced he would face McGillucitty, who got the win before Brad could get wrestling gear.

3. Kaitlyn defeated Tamina Snuka to retain the Divas Championship. There were chants for Justin Roberts and the referee mid-match.

4. Daniel Bryan and Kane defeated Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston (w/AJ Lee). A.J. got the vote to stay and there were tons of “yes” chants. Bryan performed the longest airplane spin in the world on Ziggler. He eventually pinned Dolph. Afterward, Bryan charged Kane like a bull to get his title belt. Funny. The hugged it out to conclude the first part of the show.

5. Zack Ryder beat Antonio Cesaro. A crap match with loads of rest holds. Ryder finally won!

6. Brodus Clay and Sweet T beat Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow. Tons of Funk received the pop of the night at this point in the show. Clay did his dance and the Fandangoing started with the fans.

7. John Cena defeated Ryback in a tables match to retain the WWE Championship. The crowd was mised for Cena as well as Feed Me More and Goldberg chants for Ryback. Cena smiled at a Happy Birthday chant. He performed the AA and drove Ryback through a table for the win.

After the match, the locker room came out for Cena’s birthday. He joked about the Sweet T name. All of the faces were in the ring with a cake. Cena tried to put some cake in Naomi’s face, but it didn’t work out well and he dropped it in the ring. Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow came out at the end. It was a fun night, great for a family.
