I think used sparingly, part time wrestlers can bring a much higher profile to major events. I think WWE is getting dangerously close however to alienating many of its younger talents. I would be insulted if I was someone like Antonio Cesaro, a clear up and comer, left off a card to make room for a half dozen wrestlers that have all returned since January.

  2. Haywood jablowme says:

Are they good for ratings and making money? Yes, but should they be winning titles? No

  3. Jack says:

Taker, Triple H, Rock, Y2J and HBK should he ever decide to come back have all paid their dues and deserve to compete part time if they want to. Not so sure about Lesner especially for the money he’s making. But hey it’s not like he held a gun to Vince’s head.

  4. matt says:

If they’re doing it due to injuries (undertaker) then yay.. if theyre doin it for a am payoff then nay.. the guys who bust their butts all year deserve that spot

  5. Gazz says:

In my opinion, its all about how the part timers/veterans are used. If they are being used to put each other over (the current Triple H vs Brock fued for example) I don’t see a reason why they should be out there. If however they’re used to help establish and put over up and coming talent (Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, etc) there comes the belief that these young talents can carry their respective promotions/companies for a few good years.

  6. Boogeyman says:

Yay if they’d go Jericho style and put younger talent over. So basically nay for Brock, Rock and Triple H

  7. MC Live says:

Depends on how they’re used. They should be spaced out appropriately and put over young guys to try to help establish future stars. A part time superstar should in no way shape or form be a champion. It’s not good for the title. If they do what they should do, then it’s useful. If not, stay home.

  8. Jempires One says:

Agree that they should be used to help elevate other guys.

The real problem WWE created was having fans EXPECT to see special surprises at WM shows.

During the attitude era, it was just a bunch of hot full time acts. Austin, Rock, Jericho, Mankind, Taker, HBK, Triple H…

Now you have guys that are over enough, like Daniel Bryan. But they win the belt and then are taken to the mid-cards where they linger and fans move on. The “YES” gimmick was awesome and the fans bought in. He could have been an “every man” champion, ala Backlund with more charisma.

Now he drops matched on Raw to Big E in three minutes. So sad.

Triple H always spouts about guys not going for the ball, trying to get themselves over. Yet when guys like Ziggler and Bryan actually do, they are rewarded with a short, meaningless tag title bout in undercard hell on the biggest PPV of the year.

  9. -J- says:

No problem with them, if the current guys cannot tow the line and draw well then sure bring in the familiar faces that can…but don’t become complacent and rely solely on those guys.

  10. The Sheild says:

Jericho & Taker are great examples of using part timers right. Taker may not lose his one match but the young guy lucky enough to face him is in the history books no question. HHH & Lesner are examples of having the right idea but executing it wrong. Having 2 guys like this face should be a huge attraction match, but the first encounter was disappointing & no matter how good the matches got the feud has been dragged out. Rock is an example of poor use from storyline to execution the whole thing was disappointing. Then dragging it for over 2 years didn’t help matters at all, part timers can be used right, it depends on how they’re used much like celebrities.

  11. Sweet says:

I give it a nay, but not because of the part-timers themselves. I can’t blame anybody for making a payday.

My issue is that WWE is turning into the worst of WCW: Failing to get behind fresher talents, complaining that they aren’t main event ready when it’s WWE’s “stop-start push” mentality that trains the fans to quit caring about guys.

As far as part-timers go, Hunter is in the office and likely one knee injury away from retirement. Undertaker has one high-profile match a year and is essentially retired. Brock Lesnar has the sweetest deal in WWE because they need names and he doesn’t need the money. With Rock’s injury, do you really think he’ll work one-on-one matches in the future, if he works any at all?

Part-timers need to be special, not a quick fix for poor long-term creative direction.

  12. Greg says:

I like using part timers they are big draws an a good way to put over someone up and coming. They should not win titles if they are not going to be around to defend and be a part of the chase long term. However I did like that Rock was not in the ring every show. I like not seeing the champ all the damn time. Give some TV time to the people that are chasing and giving the newcomers some air time.

  13. Guled says:

Yay, maybe the part-time wrestlers can put over the new stars or established

I have been a fan since 1987. I loved hogan, warrior piper Andre earthquake Jake the snake and macho man. I was a teenager during the attitude era and loved Austin the rock mick taker Kane and all the rest. I lived thru ruthless ag%ression and how Shelton Benjamin MVP and a host of other were booked wrong and held down. At the start I liked cena but enough is enough. I want to see bryan Dolph punk ryback ptp wade Antonio Evan bourne Brodus clay sans Tensai . I wanna see Tamina and the nxt girls get a push. I wanna watvch Chris hero come up and best wyatt . Not tired old acts from ten to thirty years ago. Taker at mania ….absolutely. the rock or hunter ? Not even remotely. Brock … only if they would put him in a fued with someone who’s gonna get a great rub. Not against old schoolers. And if you insist on cena at least make his feuds interesting and fresh

  15. T says:

No need for part timers. Push the talent they have.
