2001 – WCW officially goes out of business, bought by Vince McMahon


In 2001, the last ever WCW Nito aired. The event was dubbed ‘Night of Champions’ and was held in Panama City, Florida

– Booker T defeats Scott Steiner to win the WCW World Title and retain the WCW United States Title
– Shane Helms defeats Chavo Guerrero Jr to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title
– The Natural Born Thrillers (Sean O’Haire & Chuck Palumbo) defeat Team Canada (Mike Awesome & Lance Storm) to retain the WCW Tag Team Titles
– The Filthy Animals (Rey Misterio Jr & Billy Kidman) defeat Elix Skipper & Kid Romeo to win the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles
– Sting defeats Ric Flair in the last ever WCW match

In 2005, NJPW Nexess V was held in Tokyo, Japan

– Hirooki Goto defeats Hiroyuki Ito to win the Young Lions Cup
– Ron Waterman & Minoru Suzuki defeat Kensuke Sasaki & Takashi Iizuka
– Tsuyoshi Kosaka defeats Yuji Nagata by TKO
– Hiroyoshi Tenzan defeats Masahiro Chono
– Satoshi Kojima fought Shinsuke Nakamura to a time-limit draw to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Title

Title Changes

1956 – Bull Curry defeats Don Evans to win the Texas Brass Knuckles Title

1957 – Fred Blassie defeats Mike Clancy to win the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title but the belt is immediately held up due to a controversial finish

1976 – The Great Kojika & Motoshi Okuma win the revived All Asia Tag Team Titles, now promoted by AJPW

1977 – The Medics (1 & 2) defeat Bob Sweetan & Tony Rocco to win the TSW United States Tag Team Titles

1978 – Baron von Raschke defeats Johnny Weaver to win the NWA Television Title

1987 – Akira Maeda & Nobuhiko Takada defeat Keiji Mutoh & Shiro Koshinaka to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles

1994 – Shane Douglas wins an 8-man Ultimate Jeopardy Match to become NWA-ECW Champion

2002 – on Smackdown, Raven defeats Maven to win the WWF Hardcore Title
