– In his debut match, Oshima (wrestling under his real name) was defeated by Katsumasa Kuroki
– For his second match (and for the remainder of his early career) Oshima became ‘Shiima Nobunaga’
– On December 14, 1997, Nobunaga, Judo Suwa & Sumo Fuji defeated Los Super Payasos (Bruly, Circus & Rody) to win the IWRG Trios Titles
– On January 4, 1998, Nobunaga, Suwa & Fuji defeated Los Super Payasos to retain the IWRG Trios Titles
– Beginning in April 1998, Nobunaga made several jobber appearances for WCW
