The Rock appears on Leno, doesn’t mention WWE or Wrestlemania

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was a guest on “The Tonight Show” with Jay
Leno yesterday on NBC. The Rock talked about his favorite movies when he
was a kid – Star Wars, Rocky, and Indiana Jones – and his “man crush” on
Clint Eastwood, who he called his acting inspiration. Rock mentioned that
he never met Eastwood in person and at the Oscars he saw him but when he
was about to go over to introduce himself, he froze and couldn’t “pull the
trigger.” After the commercials, Johnson talked about giving his mom a new
truck for Christmas, being in shape since he’s been a kid, before
transitioning into plugging the G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie. There was
absolutely no mention of WrestleMania or him being the current WWE
champion. The full episode is available at NBC.COM.

its wasn’t the rock it was his alter ego dwayne…the rock will be at raw not mentioning any of dwayne’s movies, its only fair.

  2. Alex says:

    Your point J?

    WWE is Promoting his movies

  3. -J- says:

Is that your point Alex….IT DOESN’T”T MATTER WHAT YOUR POINT IS!

  4. Sonia says:

J is right. The Rock doesn’t need to promote the wwe. They need to promote his movies, so he’ll appear and they’ll make money. The Rock is everything Hulk Hogan couldn’t be. Vince needs him much more than Dwayne needs Vince

  5. Tommy B. says:

It’s things like this that make you chuckle everytime he stands in a WWE ring and says how “dedicated” he is to WWE and the business. Yet he can’t fit in a mention of being the champion or the biggest show of the year when he’s plugging his movies

  6. Joey says:

Rock was under contract to talk about GI Joe, not WWE. If WWE wanted him to go on Leno and talk about Wrestlemania, they would’ve signed him up for that and likely would’ve left out any of his up coming movies. Business.

  7. jim says:

Joey is dead on 110 percent right. Use ur heads people. Gi joe put the rock on leno not wwe

  8. bravest PAPAyA says:

So glad the E gave him the belt to bring attention to Wrestlemania while making media appearances.

  9. Denis says:

Eh,what do you expect? Not surprising. And J, I’ve heard the Rock promote his movies before on RAW, so your point is moot. And I’ve heard plenty of actors who are on talk shows to promote their movie talk about other things than just the movie and plug other things, like albums they have made, plays they are in, etc.,etc. It would have taken him 10 seconds to plug his match with Cena at Wrestlemania, but we wouldn’t want to take anything away from another of his ‘blockbuster’ movies!

  10. -J- says:

Wade Barrett and David Otunga and Miz made a movie I heard…moot moot!

  11. -J- says:

Dennis don’t worry too much about rock not mentioning wwe…afterall he did tweet about it right, and then john cena will be back as your wwe champion for 500 days very soon and the rock will be gone from your tv again.

  12. Common Cents says:

@Joey and Jim, Did His mom also put him on the show? Or How bout Harrison Ford, I mean he did talk about Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Or was it Clint Eastwood? I understand you have to talk about your movie, but you couldn’t slip in that you are WWE Champion, because well….HE IS WWE CHAMPION! You can’t play it halfway, either your the WWE Champion and this is “In your Blood”, or your just using the fans to get ratings[Leno]/movie goers. Give John Cena as much crap as you want, but whenever he is on a talk show he mentions WWE, and yes that may be because that’s all he has to plug, but guess what, he is a WWE Superstar and needs to plug it, well unless your bigger than the WWE.

  13. Jempires One says:

He is contractually obligated to do press tours for movies and is told what he can and cannot discuss.

Just business and nothing more. Not his personal decision to not talk wrestling. He cannot do it based on his movie deal.

Everything else being said in this thread is just ignorance.

  14. Joey says:

So Rock mentioned names, not products. Also, which product did he plug? Pain & Gain, Fast 6, The Hero?
