Eric Bischoff calls Bret Hart “sad and bitter”

From the UK’s Sun:

ERIC BISCHOFF has hit back at Bret Hart — calling the WWE Hall of Famer “sad and bitter”.

Hart recently blasted his former WCW boss Bischoff, now working behind the scenes in TNA, telling WrestleTalk TV that he was an “idiot” who knew nothing about wrestling.

Now Bischoff has hit back, saying: “When Bret came to WCW, I was obviously excited to have him but clearly he was – and in my opinion still is, from the interviews I hear him do – a very sad, broken and bitter person.

“That was pretty evident when he first came over. He was a shadow or a shell of his former self. Wherever Bret was, the high point of his character, what I got was a kind of broken, sad shell of that and quite honestly I don’t think he’s ever come out of it.”

Bischoff added: “Bret Hart’s trying very hard to stay relevant. Unfortunately, he’s no longer relevant.

Firstly, Bret is right. Had Jim Herd, a man everyone who knows wrestling says was a complete fool, had copied the same angle from Japan, had the same talent of the mid-90’s that Bischoff had it would have worked and EVERYONE would be calling Herd a genius. Moreover, Herd would have made a career out of bragging about the angle until hell froze over just as Bischoff does. There was only one thing Bischoff ever did that really worked and that was nWo. The idea for NITRO was a fluke (he admits as much), Goldberg was a fluke, and the nWo was a fluke. The last great WCW ppv was in april of ’94 and there was never an episode of NITRO that ranked any better than average. Bischoff was lucky rather than good.

Secondly, Bischoff is as irrelevant to the current wrestling scene as Bret Hart is. He helped to reverse the positive course TNA was making and virtually destroyed his own “legacy” with his run on TV in TNA.

Lastly, Bischoff IS RIGHT. Bret Hart has been a shell of his former self since Montreal and the death of Owen and the loss of his parents. I’ve never seen a wrestler age so rapidly or terribly as Bret Hart. And that is saying nothing of the stroke that he is quite lucky to have survived. Christ, Bret is more like Stu Jr. than Bret Hart.

    That’s pretty damned debatable.

says the guy who almost ruined tna, at least bret said during the shoot that probably he’ll know how to use talent right instead of hogan.

  4. Hey Eric!

How would you feel after you get an “career”ending concussion from a voluntary kick in the face from Me, followed by a heartattack from -let’s say- Jezus?

    Anytime asshole!
