Update on RVD

We previously noted that Rob Van Dam was missing Impact Live tonight in Chicago as his contract was set to expire. Apparently RVD’s contract expired over the weekend, and Dave Meltzer noted that Van Dam and TNA are negotiating a new contract.

Sign 2-3 NEW guys for the X-Division with the money you would save from letting RVD go…he has nothing more to give and is pretty stale at this point.

  2. motorhead says:

stale indeed. Not that he still can’t have a good match, he’s just not main event level anymore. Why he ever decided to ride with sabu that night, when he got busted for weed, still baffles me. He was on top of the world. It’s been downhill ever since. In restrospect it seems rvd’s spot in wrestling went to jeff hardy. Jeff should be where rvd is, and the other way around. What a waste of talent. Never get high when you work. Play during play hours, work the rest of the time. He only has himself to blame.

  3. Jau says:

He is boring. Let him go TNA!

  4. Hipnosis says:

It was like 5 years ago people LET IT GO.

RVD needs to refresh himself. For me personally he got stale in 2004. He REALLY needs to turn heel or SOMETHING.

  5. DBRude says:

I’m with you guys. He’s one more pre-established talent that they don’t need. They can’t build him into anything, because he was already a mega-star before he showed up there. Now, he’s just a big fish, who USED to be a big fish, in a small pond. AND he’s stale!

  6. Lovesickblues3 says:

the people that want TNA to let RVD go, are people who just don’t get it.

  7. Legend_Killer says:

RVD, come back home to WWE!

  8. -J- says:

that’s rvd the athletic slacker…he’s buddies with hogan he’ll be back botching kicks and frog splashing in no time brother!

  9. Adurka Durk says:

    Heel RVD

Oh wrestling fans, you’re so hilarious

  10. T says:

Yet if he went to WWE I am sure he would no longer be stale. *rolls eyes*

  11. echo says:

Honestly, RVD belongs in Japan or Mexico at this point. He’s either done what he can do or burnt too many bridges in the States.

  12. Chris James says:

It’s a good thing Dixie’s daddy is a rich and easy to fool or else all of these wrestlers knocking on 40’s door would be out of a job. My friend told me once that most young wrestlers signed to TNA have side jobs just to support themselves. And yet, they rehire RVD. Pathetic.

  13. Adurka Durk says:

How has he burnt ANY bridges in the US?

Why do you people act like you know WTF you’re talking about?

  14. -J- says:

he’s burnt something in the usa that’s for dam sure…rob van dam sure.

  15. Craptacular says:

Years ago from 2000 to 2005 TNA has been promoting young wrestling superstars… BUT NO ONE WATCHED TNA BECAUSE MOST OF THE PEOPLE WANTED FAMOUS SUPERSTARS.

That is why until 2006 TNA was a non lucrative chance to see something different but BY POPULAR DEMAND THEY BRING STING, ANGLE, HARDY, NASH, TEAM 3D, ETC.

As far as MOST OF THE PEOPLE likes classic superstars RVD IS NEEDED IN TNA. Period.
