Daily Discussion: Remembering Paul Bearer

Today’s topic: With the sudden passing of Paul Bearer, I thought it would appropriate to provide a forum for people to remember and reflect on the career of Paul Bearer? He had spent the last few years on the independent circuit, and met a lot of his great fans. What are you most fondest memories of the man in or out of the ring? Did he ever give you an autograph?

Paul was the man. I started watching wrestling in 92. An Paul Bearer and Taker were like how Swagger & Zeb are today. Paul did all the talking and Taker said a couple words. This made Taker look like a real bad ass. His voice and persona really sold that character. He was more believable than Taker sometimes. I don’t think we will ever see a gimmick like that.

Current memory: How freaking difficult it was to KO him in WWE ’13s story mode.

he was hilarious when he left taker for kane. BURN IN HELL UNDERTAKER!! And how about when taker broke into bearer’s house and beat the bejabbers out of him. I had a friend who could do the absolute perfect paul bearer impression. He’d keep us all in stiches doing all the lines and exaggerated expressions. He was one of my favorites. And let’s not forget, he was a decent commentator. He should go in the hof this year or with taker. How fitting to have taker carry bearer into the hall. Fuji, grand wizard. & jimmy hart may not be in, but bearer should def go in. Rest… in… peace… OOOOOH YES!!!

as a wee bit lad, I was scared of the ministry whether they abduct someone or appear at all. Paul Bearer was spooky as heck

  5. Travis says:

Paul Bearer made The Undertaker. Without Paul Bearer there would be no streak from Taker.

  6. Joey says:

And how could you forget in early 2000 when Kane came back just just a few months, the building goes red and you see Paul Bearer stand on the stage as good ole JR goes crazy at the announce table. When you would see him, you just knew “alright, things just got real.” Comebacks like that just don’t happen anymore.

  7. Jason says:

please change the main event at mania to taker vs Kane as a memorial match, taker retires with the streak, call it a career. No better way to pay tribute to the man who made them who t they are

  8. -J- says:

He was as interesting as Undertaker early on, he introduced us to two of pro wrestling’s best big men in taker and kane…such a memorable voice and persona, he was a great performer.

Percy Pringle was among the elite wrestling managers he and an eye for talent and developing it. Although his run as Paul Bearer, will be his legacy. I will always remember his run in the WCCW in the early 80’s with Rick Rude, Stunning Steve Austin, Buzz Sawyer, and some guy name Texas Red. Paul Bearer was the perfect persona for him even as Percy Pringle he had the whole mortician feel going, I guess that was because he are one.
