Wrestling By The Numbers: Elijah ‘Pope D’Angelo Dinero’ Burke‏

TNA Wrestling has parted ways with wrestler Elijah ‘Pope D’Angelo Dinero’ Burke after his contract ran out at the end of last year and the two sides couldn’t come together on new terms. The 34-year-old Jacksonville Florida native had spent the past 3-and a half years with TNA Wrestling where he had been a top tier performer for the organization. Burke announced on his twitter account that his contract with TNA had expired on January 1st and he would not be re-signing .

Elijah Burke is a 10-year professional wrestling veteran who entered the business in 2003 after signing with World Wrestling Entertainment. He was immediately assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling to be trained. Burke was called up to the WWE main roster in July of 2006 when he was paired with Sylvester Turkay and competed on the company’s ECW brand. He became apart of the ‘New Breed’ stable while in ECW and also formed a short tag-team with Shelton Benjamin prior to being released after a 5-year run in November of 2008. Prior to entering professional wrestling Burke worked as an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in Florida and also competed as an amateur boxer.
