Dutch Mantell: “I’ve never seen a gay person discriminated against in the pro wrestling profession:

Dutch Mantell via Facebook:

I can’t help but say…the wrestling profession is probably the least place that would harbor homophobia. I’ve never seen a gay person discriminated against in the pro wrestling profession…either in the dressing room or the ring. Wrestlers, by their very nature, are mostly neutral on race, color, gender, religion, political affiliation or sexual orientation. Pro wrestlers are all about making money, not making political or social statements. Or that’s the way I always saw it. Just had to say that…not that it means anything.

I thought Dutch was known to be pretty racist back in the day

That’s not saying much. Not too many wrestlers (as far as I know)are openly gay.

The mans mouth is a B.S. factory. Of course homosexuals are discriminated against in this profession. You’d have to be an idiot not to see that!

The history of the WWE and the Intercontinental championship pretty much proves that there wasn’t the level of discrimination in wrestling as there is in other industries.

Mantell is correct. Generally speaking, wrestling promoters did not and still do not discriminate against homosexuals as long as those homosexuals kept their homosexuality a secret from the public. If you’re not happy with that condition, don’t blame the wrestling industry. Blame society. Nobody should be expecting the wrestling industry to change society.

  8. Nic says:

how about the millions of Gay fans worldwide (who the Wrestling industry always say are the most important part of the industry) who see John Cena, The Rock, Triple H and dozens of others making homophobic jokes and questioning whether their opponent is gay as some type of ‘put-down’ while playing the babyface role? That’s homophobia and it has a lasting effect on the young men and women watching it.
