WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs Preview and Predictions
Dec 15, 2012 - by Michael Riba
Tomorrow night, WWE will present us with the fourth-annual TLC pay-per-view event. There are six announced matches for the pay-per-view card, and one match for the pre-show. We’ve had a main event change and this might end up being just a filler PPV before the Royal Rumble next month, but there are some quality matches on this card. Without further delay, here are my previews and predictions for each and every match:
Pre-show Match: #1 Contender’s (WWE Divas Championship) Santa’s Little Helpers Battle Royal: Aksana vs. Alicia Fox vs. Cameron vs. Kaitlyn vs. Layla vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Rosa Mendes vs. Tamina Snuka
It has been reported that the winner of this match will get her title match on the PPV. This will probably be like just about every other Divas Battle Royal that we see. There are only two women who I could possibly see winning this match: Layla or Kaitlyn.
Winner and new #1 Contender: Layla.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Wade Barrett
These two guys can, and probably will, put on a match that will pump up the crowd to open the show (assuming that this match is first on the card). Barrett really doesn’t need the win here to establish himself, because we all know he will hold a World Title sometime in the future. This is one of the matches that can go either way, and I expect to see lots of back-and-forth action, before Kingston retains the title after about 9-10 minutes.
Prediction: Kofi Kingston retains the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
#1 Contender’s (WWE Tag Team Championship) Tables Match: Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
I was not expecting Cody Rhodes to return from his injuries so soon, so I hope he is healed and wasn’t rushed back into the ring. This has the potential to be a pretty good match up, and I’m looking forward to it. This is another match where I could see either side getting the win. There’s been talks of Mysterio and Sin Cara eventually getting the titles, and then one of them turning heel for a match at WrestleMania XXIX, but I just don’t know if that will happen. However, I do think they will win this one.
Prediction:Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara become the #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
WWE United States Championship Match: Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. R-Truth
These two guys put on an alright match at Survivor Series, so I could very well see it happening again. Antonio Cesaro has been the United States Champion for a few months now, and has fended off all challengers, including Truth. I see him having another successful defense tomorrow night.
Prediction: Antonio Cesaro retains the WWE United States Championship.
World Heavyweight Championship Chairs Match: The Big Show (c) vs. Sheamus
These guys have had a pretty entertaining feud, to me at least. I’ve enjoyed the matches that they’ve had against each other, and I do not think tomorrow will be an exception. Tomorrow night will be an all-our brawl like we haven’t seen between the two. There will be plenty of chair shots and lots of beat downs, with each man taking control of the match for lengthy periods of time. Much like the other two title matches, I do not see a title switch in this one.
Prediction: The Big Show retains the World Heavyweight Championship.
Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank Contract: Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena
This match had me up in arms when it was first announced, because I was sure that Ziggler’s push (if you could call it that) was getting totally derailed. Now, however, I’m not so sure. The feud has been pretty even on television from what I have seen (I admit, I have missed a couple of weeks recently). Ziggler has until next summer to cash in, Cena cashed his in and didn’t capture the title. It would make no sense to me to have Cena take Ziggler’s briefcase. In the end, I don’t see it happening.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler retains his Money in the Bank briefcase.
Six-Man Tag Team Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns (The Shield) vs. Ryback and Team Hell No
As we all now, the planned main event was CM Punk defending the WWE Championship against Ryback. Due to Punk’s emergency knee surgery, that was scrapped and The Shield will main event their first WWE PPV. I believe the outcome of this one is pretty obvious, since the WWE probably wants to protect The Shield’s image. I do see The Shield getting the win, but Ryback won’t take the pin for his team.
Prediction: The Shield picks up the win.
1. CM Punk will be a prominent part of the show.
2. Eve Torres will retain against Layla (or whoever she faces)
3. The Shield may get involved in the Cena/Ziggler match.
