Survivor Series Preview and Predictions

Tomorrow night, WWE will present us with the 26th-annual Survivor Series pay-per-view event. Despite the lack of matches for the card (although, I’m perfectly fine with just five), the build for the matches has been pretty decent over the past few weeks. I ordered this pay-per-view on a whim and will be providing live, ongoing coverage tomorrow night right here on, so join me! Without any further delay, here are my predictions for the last of the “Big Four” pay-per-views of 2012.

Pre-Show: 3MB (Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal) vs. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd
This has the potential to be a pretty fun opener for the pre-show. It seems the rumored plans to have Gabriel become a singles competitor are on hold for now, and the 3MB have become quite the formidable group as of late. I think the 3MB’s run will continue here, and I do believe the 3MB will get a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship before year’s end.
Prediction: The 3MB pick up the victory.

WWE United States Championship Match: Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. R-Truth
Truth is one of the more underrated workers in the WWE, and Cesaro is just fantastic. That is why this could (will?) be a pretty good match. I’m not expecting an instant classic or anything like that, but I do believe these two will put together a nice match that will go back-and-forth throughout. Cesaro has just begun his reign as the United States Champion. By that, I mean that it seems to soon for him to drop the strap. I think Truth is the first of a long line of faces that Cesaro is going to bulldoze his way through going into 2013.
Prediction: Antonio Cesaro to retain the WWE United States Championship.

WWE Divas Championship Match: Eve Torres (c) vs. Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn won a number one contender’s match to get her title shot tomorrow night. It is still not clear, storyline wise, who attacked Kaitlyn at Night of Champions. That’s about it. I’m going out on a limb here and saying that the obvious is finally revealed and Kaitlyn finds out at Eve attacked her. This will lead to Kaitlyn being unable to control her anger and getting herself disqualified in the match.
Prediction: Eve Torres to retain the WWE Divas Championship by disqualification.

Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Ziggler (Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, and Wade Barrett) vs. Team Foley (Daniel Bryan, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, and The Miz)
I could honestly see this match going either way. There seems to be dissension in the ranks on both teams. I’ m liking the face turn for The Miz quite nicely, because he had really done all there was to do as a heel. A lot of people are predicting him to re-turn and cost his team the match. I do not. I do not think we’ll see any turns during this match, but if we did, it would be Randy Orton. His promo on Smackdown where he said he didn’t like anyone on his team and did not trust them, and then RKO’ing The Miz after their match may have planted the seeds for his turn. Like I said, I don’t think it will happen tomorrow night. It seems as though Cody Rhodes may be able to go for his team tomorrow night, but it’s still iffy. That wouldn’t make a difference in the outcome, either way. In the end, I see Del Rio and Ziggler’s egos getting the better of them, leading to The MIz picking up the win for Team Foley.
Prediction: Team Foley gets the win, The Miz and Randy Orton are the survivors.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: The Big Show (c) vs. Sheamus
The match between these two turned out to be the Match of the Night at Hell in a Cell. I could see it doing the exact same thing tomorrow night. I don’t expect the feud to end at Survivor Series, as it could very well stretch into early 2013. As much as this match was a fight at Hell in a Cell, I think it will be even more of a fight tomorrow. I could also see this match going either way. I don’t think Show’s reign will end just yet, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it did.
Prediction: The Big Show to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match: CM Punk (c) vs. John Cena vs. Ryback
Tomorrow will be Day 364 of CM Punk’s reign as WWE Champion. He won the title from Alberto Del Rio at Survivor Series 2011, and has beaten every challenger he has faced, including John Cena and Ryback. Bear with me for the rest of this prediction, because some of you won’t like it. John Cena will win the WWE Championship tomorrow night. He will do so by pinning CM Punk. John Cena will defend the WWE Championship for two months, before losing to The Rock at the Royal Rumble in January. Speaking of the Royal Rumble, did I mention that CM Punk will win the Royal Rumble Match? Punk will do that, and will go on to regain the WWE Championship from The Rock at WrestleMania XXIV. Ryback will have one or two title matches in there somewhere, as well. Don’t hate on me for this prediction, because it’s more than likely 100% wrong. That’s why it’s a prediction. It just seems like that would be the way things would go.
Prediction: John Cena to win the WWE Championship.

Well, there you have it. The Survivor Series edition of my every-month, sometimes-correct, often-debated predictions. You can leave your feedback to the site on Twitter (@gerweck), to myself on Twitter (@TheMichaelRiba), or in the comment section below. As always, live coverage of the show will be provided here on tomorrow night and I hope you all enjoyed the predictions. Add your own! I like to read what you all have to say.

You’re welcome.
