A recap of the Turning Point pay-per-view kicks off Impact Wrestling where James Storm became the #1 contender to the TNA World Championship and AJ Styles came on the losing end and will not get a title shot until at least Bound for Glory next year. Jeff Hardy also retained the TNA World Championship against Austin Aries in a ladder match.
We head into the Impact Zone and are greeted by a three man announce team (Jeremy Borash is not there), and James Storm’s music hits and the new #1 contender makes his way to the ring. Storm talks about his long, hard, road over the past year and thanks the family and fans for being there for him. Storm also thanks those who thought he couldn’t do it, which added fuel to his determination. Storm is then cut off by Bobby Roode’s music, who makes his way to the ring with a couple of beers.
Roode says he is out there to celebrate and wants to toast Storm’s victory for achieving success off of Roode’s hard work. Roode also toasts to Storm’s family, who will have to pick up the pieces once he fails and takes his ball and goes home once again. This sets off Storm, who nails Roode with a couple of punches before Roode escapes to the floor. Storm challenges Roode to a fight but Roode says he is done fighting him, unless he puts up his shot at the TNA World Championship. Storm doesn’t agree to it until Roode begins to bring Storm’s daughter into it. Storm then agrees and we will have that match tonight.
The announce team recap what just happened and tell us that we will hear from AJ Styles, who will address his future. Hulk Hogan is seen in his office and is talking about Styles having to wait until late 2013 to get a title shot. Hogan says he wishes better for him, but Styles is his own worst enemy as we head into a commercial break.
Footage of Aces & Eights attack on Sting with a hammer is aired. We then see Aces & Eights in the clubhouse where Doc is talking about beating down Sting last week. The leader says the other members will vote on his fate tonight, until then, though, he has to give up his vest. Doc gets up and leaves and Devon throws another dart at the wall to target their next victim.
Match 1: Kid Kash vs. Rob Van Dam (X Division Championship)
Kash attacks RVD as he makes his way to the ring, but RVD is able to quickly turn things around with a couple of kicks. Mike Tenay talks about the history of these two in ECW and how Kash knows RVD’s flaws. Kash turns the momentum and sends RVD over the top rope and onto the floor with a hurricanrana. Kash then leaps off the apron and takes RVD down again with another hurricanrana before rolling the champion back into the ring for a near fall. Kash then misses with a moonsault and RVD comes back with a kick off the middle rope and hits Rolling Thunder for a near fall. Kash then counters a spin kick but RVD is able to recover and send Kash flying with a monkey flip. RVD follows with a Five Star Frog Splash for the pin fall to retain the X Division Championship.
Eric Young and ODB are backstage and EY is telling her about his hunting adventures. EY says that is all in the past, and tonight he is going to take care of Jesse. ODB says she is going to take care of business to become the new #1 contender to the Knockouts Championship. The two then begin to make out as we head into a commercial break.
Kurt Angle is in the locker room with Garett Bischoff and Wes Brisco and says he needs a tag team partner tonight. The two of them plead their cases for being Angle’s partner and Angle picks Bischoff. Angle tells Brisco not to worry about it as he has big plans for him.
Match 2: Jesse vs. Eric Young
Jesse slams EY down to the mat and goes for a quick pin attempt but EY kicks out. Jesse begins to wear Young down with a series of elbows and while taking a few moments to pose. Jesse goes back to work on EY and takes him down with a dropkick before going over to kiss Tara. Jesse turns his attention to EY once again, who tries to fight back, but Jesse puts EY in an abdominal stretch. EY fights out and takes Jesse down with a hip toss and EY strips out of his pants and takes Jesse down with a flurry of offense. Tara tries to get involved but ODB takes her out of the ring. EY is distracted by the action outside of the ring for a moment before he heads out to the top rope, however, Jesse knocks him off the apron and onto the floor. Jesse rolls EY back into the ring and takes him down with a Stunner to pick up the pin fall.
The announce team hype AJ Styles’ appearance and we see Gail Kim and Mickie James getting ready for tonight’s Knockouts battle royal. They then hype a match between Samoa Joe and Magnus for the TNA Television Championship, which will be coming up next.
We see footage from Turning Point where Doc busted open Joseph Park with a studded belt. This set Park off and Park took Doc down with a Black Hole Slam. Park is in Hulk Hogan’s office and is begging for one more match with Aces & Eights. Hogan says he can’t put him back in the ring and his job is on the line. Hogan reminds Park that he is a lawyer and has no wrestling training and will not let him wrestle again. Park then gets an idea to go to wrestling school and when he comes back, Hogan will have to give him his match. Park leaves and Hogan says to himself that Park won’t be back.
Magnus makes his way to the ring for his title match, however, Aces & Eights attacks him as he makes his way to the ring. Devon directs traffic as three men hold Magnus down and Doc nails him in the legs with a hammer. Devon then sizes him up with a baseball bat, but Bully Ray runs out with his chain and chases them away. TNA agents come out to check on Magnus and yell out for trainers as we head into a commercial break.
We return to see Magnus being put onto a stretcher. Footage of the attack is replayed as Magnus is being wheeled out. Footage of the ladder match between Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy at Turning Point is aired. Some of the big spots are aired and we see Hardy winning and Aries being helped out. Aries is in the parking lot, shows off his wounds and says he is not done with Jeff Hardy. Aries says he is going to get a massage, however, Hardy is in there and is getting one. Aries says he gives Hardy respect for raising his game and Aries says he brought it out of him. Aries then tells Hardy that they are not done and tells Hardy to enjoy his massage. We then hear Hardy’s thoughts as Hardy says Aries will never reach his level.
Kurt Angle and Garett Bischoff come out to the ring and Angle says he is here with his tag team partner and they are waiting to take on Aces & Eights as we head into a commercial break.
Match 3: Garett Bischoff & Kurt Angle vs. Aces & Eights (Devon & Masked Prospect)
Angle starts out against Devon and hits him with a flurry of offense. Devon is able to knock Angle down and makes the tag to his partner. Angle takes down with tall, masked, prospect with a couple of well placed kicks to the knees and tags Bischoff into the match. Bischoff takes the big man down with a dropkick and a shoulder block before tagging Angle into the match. Devon nails Angle from behind as the referee has his back turned and comes in to take over for the masked man.
Devon begins to wear Angle down before tagging in the big man, who picks up where Devon left off. Angle finally counters the attack and takes the big man down with a German suplex. Devon runs in and Angle takes him down with another German suplex. A couple more members of Aces & Eights run out and attack Bischoff in the ringside area. Aces & Eights then come into the ring and look to take out Angle, but Wes Brisco runs out and chases them away with a pipe. Angle then connects with a mule kick and rolls up the masked man to pick up the pin fall.
After the ring, Angle and Bischoff quickly make their way out to the floor as Aces & Eights stand together in the ring and look on at them. The announce team then hypes the upcoming match between James Storm and Bobby Roode and the Knockouts battle royal. We then see Tara and Jesse making their way into Brooke Hogan’s office without knocking and find Bully Ray in there with her. Ray walks out and Tara is upset with not knowing about tonight’s battle royal. Brooke says she can’t worry about it and tells her to knock before walking in to her office. Tara gives her advice and tells her to lock the door.
Dixie Carter is backstage and is worried about AJ Styles. She says she doesn’t know how Styles will take not being able to challenge for the TNA World Championship. The Knockouts begin making their way to the ring for the Knockouts battle royal as we head into a commercial break.
Match 4: TNA Knockouts Battle Royal
Gail Kim, Madison Rayne, Mickie James, Miss Tessmacher, and ODB are the five Knockouts in this battle royal. The bell rings as four of these former Knockouts Champions go at it, while ODB sits in the corner to wait things out. Gail nearly eliminates Tessmacher, but she is able to hold on. Gail and Madison begin working together to wear down ODB until Tessmacher comes in and goes after Gail. Tessmacher tries for a high risk move but she is pushed over the top rope and falls to the floor to be eliminated.
ODB and Mickie begin working over Madison and Gail as Mickie feeds them to ODB, who hits them both with her patented turnbuckle move. Mickie then nearly eliminates Madison, but she hold on and stays on the apron. Madison begins to play to the crowd as ODB spits some of the contents of her flask into her face and knocks her down to the floor to be eliminated. ODB and Mickie then have a bit of miscommunication and Gail sends ODB over the top rope to eliminate her from the match.
Gail and Mickie are the final two in the battle royal and Gail takes her time to wear Mickie down. Mickie fights back and sends Gail over the top rope with a leg scissors. Gail skins the cat and makes it back to the apron, however, Mickie connects with a kick to knock her down to the floor and wins the battle royal to become the #1 contender to the Knockouts Championship.
James Storm is backstage and says he knows the consequences of tonight’s match but he is sick of Bobby Roode always butting in. AJ Styles then walks up and stares at Storm for a moment before walking away without saying a word. The announce team hype Styles’ appearance, which will come up after the commercial break.
Back in the Aces & Eights clubhouse, the members have voted and they tell Doc to not let the door hit him on the ass on the way out. The members get up and stare Doc down and he gets up and heads to the door. A boom mic shadow is seen as Doc opens the door, where his vest waiting for him. The group celebrates as he puts his vest back on.
A video recap of the #1 contender match between James Storm, Bobby Roode, and AJ Styles is aired. Styles’ music hits as he makes his way down to the ring with a baseball cap pulled low on his head. Styles grabs a microphone and says he lost at Turning Point, which just goes along with the year that he had. Styles talks about being accused of being with Dixie Carter, getting a crack head pregnant, and was just a few points away from winning the Bound for Glory Series. Styles then goes on to say it’s time for the holidays and he isn’t thankful for anything.
Christopher Daniels and Kazarian cut off Styles and join him in the ring. Daniels says everything that Styles said was accurate and he is having one of the worst years of his life. Daniels says Styles is the own source of his problems and he is now a broken, sad, little man. Daniels then takes a moment to remind Styles that he is a failure. Styles says if they look in the record books, he has beaten Daniels more than Daniels has beaten him. As much as hates to say it, Styles challenges Daniels one last time to see who the better man is.
Kazarian steps in and says Daniels has nothing to gain by wrestling him again as he is stale and the two of them are riding high. Daniels steps in and says he hates to disagree with Kazarian, but it is the perfect time for them to have another match. Daniels says they will then see who the real failure is and the two get in each others face. We then see James Storm and Bobby Roode making their way through the backstage area as the main event will be coming up after the commercial break.
Austin Aries is in the parking lot and talks about non verbial communication. He says he has figured out what buttons to push around here and he will do just that next week on Open Fight Night. The announce team hypes next week Open Fight Night that will feature Gut Check contestants.
Kurt Angle runs into Bruce Prichard, D Lo Brown and Al Snow. Angle puts over his case for Wes Brisco going up for Gut Check. Angle says he is a blue chipper and Brown agrees with him. Angle says Taz agrees with the idea and walks off as the three talk about Gut Check process and how they can’t just let anyone try out.
Match 5: Bobby Roode vs. James Storm (#1 Contender Match)
Jeremy Borash handles the formal introductions for tonight’s main event. Storm goes right after Roode as Borash finishes up his introductions and hits him with a flurry of offense. Roode comes back and knocks Storm out to the floor before heading over to rip off the turnbuckle pad off one of the corners. Storm makes his way back into the ring and Roode takes him down with an armbar before pulling Storm into the corner and ramming Storm’s arm into the ring post as we head into a commercial break.
We return to the match and see Roode still in control and picks up a near fall over Storm. Roode continues to work over Storm’s arm to set up for the crossface submission as Storm begins to fight his way back into the match. Storm takes Roode down with a Russian leg sweep and hits a series of clotheslines and a neckbreaker. Storm then heads to the top rope but Roode cuts him off and tries for a superplex, but Storm counters and sends Roode crashing to the canvas with a powerbomb. Storm tries for the Eye of the Storm, but his arm is too weak to pick Roode up. Roode then takes Storm down with a spinebuster and locks Storm in a crossface but Storm is able to get his foot on the rope to break the hold.
Storm then takes Roode down with a back cracker and the Closing Time. Storm then soaks up the cheers from the crowd as he sets up for the Last Call, but Roode pulls the referee in front of him. Storm is able to stop in time, but Roode sends Storm into the exposed turnbuckle and rolls Storm up for the pin fall while grabbing a fistful of tights. Roode then leaves the ring to celebrates his victory and Storm watches with a look of disbelief on his face as Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
