Sting talks about possibly work for WWE

In an interview with the Phoenix New Times to promote the Hall of Fame
and Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Sting talked about the rumors of him
going to WWE and if that would ever happen. “I don’t know, especially now
that I will be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame. They may just turn the
page at that point. I have no idea,” Sting said. Last year, Sting was
close to appearing at WrestleMania in one of the last few dream matches
remaining, a match against the Undertaker. He said that he hasn’t spoken
to the Undertaker in over 20 years – the last time ‘Taker was in WCW – but
he always wanted to have “one real cool thing” with him. Sting didn’t
completely shut down the door on working with WWE, giving the “never say
never” answer which many wrestlers love to give. He did say however that
when he contacted WWE to get permission to use some footage they own of
him for personal appearances, the company was very accommodating. “There
have been times over the years where I wanted to have some footage to use
for other personal things in life and I don’t have it. Although I did call
once and they were great. They gave me whatever I needed and it was nice,”
Sting said.

Sting vs Taker 15 years ago would’ve been great. Sting vs Taker now would just be 2 old guys who need help getting through matches on their own (especially Sting, & I don’t mean that in an offensive way). Not to mention Taker vs Anybody (especially somebody who became famous outside of the WWE) at WM = no need to watch because we all know Taker will be given the win.

  2. Really? says:

I wouldn’t say especially Sting between those two. Sting is slower and worn down, but Taker is a shell that has to rely almost exclusively on weapon shots to get through a match.

  3. JDBJJ says:

If Sting were to put in the ring work to polish his game and get himself in a little better shape physically, that match would be worth money anytime

  4. Fisha695 says:

There are a lot of stories over the past few years of Sting just forgetting his match mid-match in TNA and having to have the other guy carry him threw it, along with the few times where he has forgotten what side of the ring the Hard Camera is on (which 99.99% time in America is when you are standing so your right arm is towards the entrance ramp the hard camera is infront of you)

  5. Deathedge says:

Meh, at this point, I’m convinced this match will never happen.

  6. Scott says:

Considering Sting’s age and such, yes, I’d be concerned about something like a Taker-Sting match.

Another thing is how he would be treated. Back in 01, it would have been a good question if he would be treated semi-respectfully, like they have done when Ric Flair was in the WWE, or would they DDP him, and stick him with a pile of crap for a gimmick or pushes. The guy was super big in the wrestling world. That will probably be one of the greatest questions in wrestling history that will never be answered.
