10/8/12 Monday Night Raw Live Report

We go straight into the arena in Sacramento, California, where John Cena’s music hits and we makes his way to the ring. Cena says he missed the fans and says his one week off felt like a year. Cena pokes fun at Kane, Daniel Bryan, Antonio Cesaro, the Divas, and even offers to take AJ on a date. He calls Vince McMahon a kid, mentions Arnold Schwarzenegger and says he is just getting warmed up. Cena says CM Punk stole the voice of the WWE Universe. Cena says people only remember certain moments in Punk’s title reign and hopes the crowd tells Punk how they feel. Cena says people turn their noses up at Punk because he is not a man. He tells Punk to not be a punk and accept the challenge. Cena goes to leave, and Ryback’s music hits. We revisit last week when Ryback took Jim Ross back into the ring to defend him against Punk.

Match #1: Handicap Match: Epcio and Primo (w/Rosa Mendes) vs. Ryback
Ryback overpowers Primo and then Epico. He slams Primo down on the mat and Epico tries to attack him from behind to no avail. Epico and Primo finally double team Ryback and take him down. They go for covers on Ryback, but he kicks out. They keep up the double-team maneuvers, but Ryback powers out after Epico slaps him. Ryback takes them down with big clotheslines. Ryback grabs both men and hits Shell Shocked for the pin fall. Winner: Ryback.

We are reminded that Vince McMahon will be live on Raw tonight to deliver his State of WWE Address as we go to a commercial.

Match #2: Brodus Clay (w/Cameron and Naomi) vs. R-Truth (w/Lil’ Jimmy)
This turned into a big dance group before Vince McMahon appeared on the TitanTron. He says he wants them all to dance out of the ring because it’s time for his State of the WWE Address.

Vince McMahon comes out and begins addressing the state of the WWE. He says there’s room for everything from invisible men to giants, humor to seriousness. He says the most important thing the WWE has is action. CM Punk’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman. Punk says Vince didn’t mention him because he won’t step in the ring with Cena at Hell in a Cell. Punk says people in the back don’t respect him, the crowd doesn’t respect him, and he asks Vince if he respects him. Vince says he respects the fact that Punk has been Champion for 323 days, but doesn’t respect the fact that he is a Paul Heyman Guy. Vince says he is not a CM Punk Guy. Punk says he should be. Punk says he is the best in the world. Punk says he is the greatest thing Vince has right now. Heyman tries to back Punk away from Vince, but Punk continues on. He says Vince should appreciate him and says he’ll quit again if he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Punk says he’s the reason the people pay money and the reason Vince has money to fuel up his jet. Punk asks who else besides him makes the WWE a success. Vince says it’s the WWE Universe. Vince says he listens to the fans and right now they are saying that someone needs to shut Punk’s mouth. Vince says Punk is nowhere near a Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold level. Punk says he made it to the top through hard work, while Austin made it to the top through short cuts by beating up Vince. Punk says now Vince knows how it feels to be slapped in the face and then he slaps him in the face and he and Heyman leave the ring. Vince gets up and says he will fire Punk if he doesn’t fight him in the ring tonight. Heyman says Punk walked the wrong line, but Punk says everything will be fine as we go to a commercial.

Match #2: #1 Contender’s (WWE Tag Team Championship) Tournament Semifinal Match: Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs. The Prime Time Players
Young and Sin Cara start the match off and Sin Cara takes him down with an arm drag. Sin Cara comes off the ropes and takes Young down with a head scissors. Sin Cara tags in Mysterio and he dives onto Young on the outside. O’Neil is taken down on the outside as well and Mysterio and Sin Cara stand tall as we go to a commercial.
We’re back and O’Neil slams Sin Cara to the mat for a two count. Young comes in and gets Sin Cara in a bear hug and takes him into the corner. Sin Cara fights out and connects with a Tornado DDT. Sin Cara gets the tag and Mysterio takes Young and O’Neil down. Mysterio kicks Young and takes him down for a two count before O’Neil breaks it up. Sin Cara takes O’Neil down with a dropkick. Young hits his finisher on Sin Cara, and Mysterio gains control over Young. Mysterio trips him up and hits the 6-1-9 and then goes up top and hits the splash for the pin fall. Winners: Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara.

We see Punk and Heyman backstage. Heyman says this is a must-lose situation. Punk says he is going to annihilate Vince. Heyman says Vince will make their lives miserable from here on out. Punk says he will find a way to win.

We see that Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett will take place after the commercial break.

Match #3: Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett
They tie up and go to the corner. The Big Show’s music hits and he makes his way out to ringside. Barrett takes control of the distraction, but Sheamus comes back and takes Barrett down. Sheamus takes Barrett down with a shoulder block and then puts him in a head lock. Barrett backs Sheamus into the corner and delivers a shot to the midsection. Sheamus comes into the ring and shoulder blocks Barrett again and takes him to the mat and applies another head lock. Barrett backs Sheamus into the corner and gains control of the match. Barrett goes for a suplex, but Sheamus reverses into one of his own. Barrett punches Sheamus and delivers a stiff kick. Sheamus raises a knee and sends Barrett to the floor. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick from the apron, but Barrett trips Sheamus and takes him down on the floor as we go to a commercial.
We’re back and Barrett tosses Sheamus into the stairs as The Big Show still looks on. Back in the ring, Barrett takes Sheamus down with a big knee. Barrett pounds away on Sheamus and chokes him over the middle rope. Barrett sets Sheamus on the middle rope and delivers a big kick to the head and gets a two count. Barrett went to the top and went for an elbow, but Sheamus moves and connects with a big clothesline. Sheamus takes Barrett down again and drives his shoulder into his midsection and delivers a running knee lift. Barrett comes back, but Sheamus tosses him over the top rope and delivers his vintage ten clubbing blows. Tensai gets into the ring and attacks Sheamus, leading to the disqualification. Tensai and Barrett double-team Sheamus as Big Show looks on from the outside. Barrett holds Sheamus and Tensai goes for a clothesline, but Sheamus gets out and Brogue Kicks Tensai. Show gets into the ring and he and Sheamus square off and Show tosses him to the outside. Show walks up the ramp smiling as Sheamus gets up and gets back into the ring. Winner by disqualification: Sheamus

We see that Team Hell No will take on Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio later tonight, as well as Vince McMahon and CM Punk squaring off in the ring.

We’re back and we see that The Miz will be a guest on Larry King Now tonight. We see AJ in her office and Punk walks in and asks her what she is going to do about him beating up an old man on her show. He says it’s all on her. We then see footage of John Cena’s appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael to promote the WWE’s partnership with the Susan B. Komen Foundation as we go to another commercial break.

Match #4: Antonio Cesaro vs. Tyson Kidd
They tie up and Kidd goes behind Cesaro with an arm wrench. Cesaro takes control of the match and goes for a submission on Kidd. Kidd comes back and takes control and rolls up Cesaro for a two count. Cesaro comes back and takes Kidd down with a big boot. Cesaro stomps away on Kidd in the corner and then stomps on his chest. Cesaro slams Kidd to the mat and wrenches his neck. Kidd fights out, but Cesaro keeps advantage. They go to the outside and Kidd dropkicks Cesaro down to the floor. Kidd tosses Cesaro back into the ring and gets a roll up for a two count. Cesaro goes after Kidd, but Kidd keeps control and goes for an elbow, but Cesaro moves out of the way. Cesaro hits his big uppercut and then the Neutralizer for the pin fall. Winner: Antonio Cesaro.

We see that Team Hell No vs. Ziggler and Del Rio is next.

Match #5: Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler (w/Ricardo Rodriguez and Vickie Guerrero) vs. Team Hell No
Bryan and Ziggler start the match. Ziggler takes Bryan down with an arm drag. They tie up and Bryan sends Ziggler off the ropes, but Ziggler comes back with a shoulder block. Bryan takes control with a knee lift and goes to tag in Kane, but pulls his hand back and Ziggler tags in Del Rio. Bryan backs into the corner with Del Rio, and Kane tags himself in. Kane works over Del Rio in the corner and wrenches his arm in the middle of the ring. Del Rio tries to kick him, but Kane keeps control before Del Rio connects with a kick and tags in Ziggler. Ziggler eats a right hand from Kane and Kane takes him down and connects with a dropkick. Kane looks at Bryan and Ziggler takes control. Kane comes back and tosses Ziggler out to the floor and Bryan tags in and delivers a flying knee on the outside as we go to a commercial break.
We’re back and Kane tags in Bryan who takes Ziggler down in the corner. They go up top and Bryan goes for a hurricanrana, but Ziggler reverses into a roll up for a two count. Ziggler comes back and connects with a dropkick ton Bryan and Ziggler tags in Del Rio. Del Rio goes for a cover, but Bryan kicks out at two. Del Rio gets Bryan in a headlock, but Bryan fights out and rolls Del Rio up for two. Del Rio connects with a kick to the jaw and tags in Ziggler. Ziggler stalks Bryan and drops him with a neck breaker. Ziggler drops an elbow for a two count. Ziggler tags in Del Rio, who slams Bryan down for a two count. Del Rio kicks Bryan in the back and then stomps away on him in the corner. Bryan reverses and stomps away on Del Rio. Bryan charges into the corner, but Del Rio moves and tags in Ziggler, who goes for a cover but Bryan kicks out at two. Ziggler applies a headlock, but Bryan gets out and hits a jaw breaker. Ziggler charges into the corner, but Bryan moves and both men are down. Bryan goes for the corner, but Ziggler grabs his ankle and pulls him to the other corner and tags in Del Rio. Del Rio stomps away on Bryan and side slams him down to the mat. Del Rio applies a headlock, but Bryan fights out before Del Rio connects with a back breaker before Kane breaks up the pin fall. Del Rio tags in Ziggler, who keeps control of the match for his team. Ziggler tags Del Rio back in and Del Rio works on Bryan’s neck in the middle of the ring. Bryan fights out again and Del Rio goes shoulder first into the steel post. Bryan tags in Kane and he clotheslines Del Rio. Ziggler gets the tag on Del Rio, but Kane goes for a double choke slam, but Del Rio and Ziggler reverse and Ziggler gets a near fall on Kane. Kane hits the sidewalk slam on Ziggler and goes up top, but Bryan tags himself in and hits the dropkick on Ziggler for a two count before Del Rio makes the save. Kane tosses Del Rio to the outside and Vickie distracts Bryan allowing Ziggler to roll him up for two. Kane tags himself in and he hits Ziggler with a clothesline for the pin fall. Winners: Team Hell No.

We take a look back to earlier tonight to see how the CM Punk vs. Vince McMahon match came about.

We see Jim Ross and Vince McMahon backstage and JR is still trying to talk Vince out of the match against CM Punk. JR says he can’t help but remember what happened to Jerry Lawler when he fought Punk. Vince says he wants JR to call the match, but then instructs him to call it right now. JR does and the crowd pops for it. JR says he still thinks it’s a mistake and Vince says it doesn’t matter what JR thinks and walks away as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and it’s time for Larry King Now. Before he can introduce The Miz, his music hits and he comes out. The Miz says it’s his birthday and Larry says no one cares about his birthday. Larry introduces Kofi Kingston and they talk for a bit before The Miz interrupts and says their all amateurs. The Miz says he has had more Championships than Larry has had wives and Kingston has had main events. Larry’s wife stands up and tosses her water on The Mfz. The Miz takes his jacket off and Kingston attacks him. Kingston tosses him off the stage and flies off the stage to take The Miz down.

Match #6: #1 Contender’s (WWE Tag Team Championship) Semifinal Match: Santino Marella and Zack Ryder vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
Ryder and Rhodes start the match and Rhodes backs him into the corner. Ryder gets a back slide for a two count and then gets another quick two count before delivering a knee shot to Rhodes. Rhodes takes control and takes Ryder down before tagging in Sandow. Sandow works over Ryder before tagging Rhodes in. Rhodes stomps on Ryder and goes for a pin fall, but Ryder kicks out. Rhodes tags in Sandow and he hits the Elbow of Disdain on Ryder and tags in Rhodes again. Rhodes gets Ryder in a headlock, but Ryder fights out and tags in Marella. Rhodes takes control, but Marella comes back and connects with a hip toss and goes for the Cobra, but Sandow distracts him and Rhodes hits the Disaster Kick for the pin fall. Winners: Team Rhodes Scholars. After the match, Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, and Jinder Mahal come out and attack Marella and Ryder.

We go backstage and we see Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon. Heyman says he is sorry for Punk’s actions. He says he didn’t know Punk was going to slap him across the face. Heyman wants to make peace between Vince and Punk. Vince asks Heyman if he knows the difference between when he is lying and telling the truth. Heyman says he is here for Vince’s sake. Heyman begs Vince not to make Punk do to him what Brock Lesnar did to Triple H.

We see Eve Torres walking backstage and we learn that she is defending the WWE Divas Championship against Kaitlyn next.

Match #7: WWE Divas Championship Match: Eve Torres (c) vs. Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn gains control and takes Eve down with a suplex. Kaitlyn keeps control and goes for a pin fall, but Eve kicks out. Kaitlyn gets Eve in a submission, but Eve comes back and works on Kaitlyn’s injured ankle. Eve applies a submission on Kaitlyn’s ankle and she taps out. Winners and still WWE Divas Champion, Eve Torres. After the match, Layla forces Eve to break the hold on Kaitlyn.

We see Del Rio and Ricardo walking backstage when Josh Mathews walks up and wants to share a Tweet sent out by Randy Orton that was directed towards Del Rio. Josh tells him what the Tweet says and Del Rio looks worried and walks away.

We are back and Larry King and his wife are backstage when Daniel Bryan walks up. Bryan complains about people saying he looks like a goat. Bryan hits on King’s wife and she says she doesn’t make a habit of going out with trolls that live under bridges. King says deal with it and Kane walks up. Kane says he has carried his goat face ever since they won the tag titles. They argue over who is the Tag Team Champion. Bryan says Kane scared off Larry King, and Kane says he thought that was Skeletor.

Heyman and Punk are backstage and Heyman reminds Punk that Vince will make their life a living hell. Unless Punk can beat Vince so badly that he can never make another decision for the rest of his life. Punk vs. McMahon is next.

Match #8: CM Punk vs. Mr. McMahon
As Vince is making his entrance, Punk comes from behind and attacks him. They get in the ring and Vince takes Punk down. They exchange rights and lefts on the mat and Punk kicks Vince in the back of the head. Punk walks on Vince’s back and tosses him to the outside. Punk slams Vince’s head into the announce table and goes for the GTS, but Vince gets out of it and shoves Punk face first into the ring post. Vince tosses Punk over the announce table and grabs a microphone and says he is going to teach Punk about respect. Vince dives over the announce table and pounds away on Punk. Vince shoves a chair into Punk and tosses him back into the ring. Vince goes under the ring and grabs a kendo stick. He goes to hit Punk with it, but Punk scurries to the outside. Punk calls Heyman to his side of the ring, but Vince stops him and takes the WWE Championship and Vince knocks Heyman down on the outside. Vince takes the title into the ring and tosses it on the mat. Punk runs to the ring and Vince swings the kendo stick. Punk gets under the ring and grabs a kendo stick of his own. Punk gets into the ring and they way-lay on each other with the kendo sticks. Vince gets the upper hand and goes for another shot, but Punk connects with the low blow. Punk gets both kendo sticks and hits Vince with them. Punk sets Vince up for the GTS, but Ryback’s music hits and he comes to the ring. Ryback gets into the ring and Punk ducks to the outside. John Cena comes out and tosses Punk into the ring and Ryback hits a big clothesline on Punk. Ryback gets Punk up and goes for Shell Shocked, but Punk escapes and goes through the crowd. Vince grabs a microphone and says Punk either faces Ryback or John Cena at Hell in a Cell, and he better have his decision next week or Vince will decide for him.
