9/3/12 Monday Night Raw Live Report

Raw opens up with Michael Cole alone at the announce table, and we quickly find out why. We see CM Punk and Jerry Lawler brawling backstage, and it ends with Punk leaving Lawler lying on the floor.

The World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus makes his way to the ring and begins to talk about Alberto Del Rio before he is interrupted by the WWE Champion CM Punk. Punk comes out and says he is tired of being disrespected and rants on Lawler and John Cena. Punk says he has been disrespected for 288 days. He says Cena is the one that turned his back on the WWE Universe and Sheamus interrupts, which draws boos from Punk’s hometown crowd. Sheamus says at least The Rock was man enough to disrespect Punk in the ring, and all Punk can do is talk from the stage and invites Punk into the ring. Punk comes back and says that he has beaten up one goon tonight and tonight would not be Sheamus’ night. Raw General Manager A.J. comes out and announces two matches for tonight: Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena and CM Punk vs. Sheamus.

We see Randy Orton backstage and we find out that he will take on Mr. Money in the Bank Dolph Ziggler after the commercial break.

Match #1: Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Randy Orton
They tie up and Orton shoots Ziggler off the ropes. Ziggler comes back and takes Orton down with a dropkick, which leads to a standoff between the two. They tie up again and this time Ziggler sends Orton off and Orton comes back with a shoulder block. Orton connects with a dropkick and goes for the cover, but Ziggler kicks out. Orton stomps on Ziggler and hits an uppercut. Orton sends Ziggler into the corner, but Ziggler goes over Orton before Orton catches him and slam him to the mat for a two count. Ziggler takes Orton into the corner and pounds away on him. Ziggler tosses Orton into the corner, but Orton comes out and clotheslines Ziggler to the mat. They go to the floor and Orton slams Ziggler into the barricade and slams him on the floor. Orton gets back into the ring as we go to a commercial.
We’re back and Orton is still in control and tosses Ziggler high into the air and watches him crash down to the mat. Orton takes Ziggler to the corner and climbs to the top to deliver ten right hands. Ziggler comes back and delivers a swinging neck breaker to Orton and then slams him into the barricade on the outside. Ziggler grabs Orton and tosses him back into the ring and goes for a cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Ziggler hits an elbow to Orton’s chest and goes for another cover, but Orton kicks out yet again. Ziggler applies a submission hold and keeps it locked in for a while before Orton fights out and headbutts Ziggler. Orton comes off the ropes, but Ziggler delivers a knee to his midsection. Ziggler goes for another elbow drop, but Orton moves and punches Ziggler and tosses him into the corner. Orton charges, but Ziggler hits him with a high elbow and a clotheslines before going for the cover, in which Orton kicks out at two. Ziggler goes to the top rope, but Orton knocks him down. Orton delivers an uppercut and a headbutt to Ziggler before climbing the ropes. Orton superplexes Ziggler from the top rope and goes for the cover, but Ziggler kicks out at two. Orton clotheslines Ziggler and hits him with the power slam and then takes him to the ropes and sets up for his DDT, but Ziggler reverses and escapes. Ziggler gets back into the ring, but Orton catches him with a back breaker and gets a two count. Orton gets caught by Ziggler and gets planted on the mat. Ziggler goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Orton grabs Ziggler and takes him to the ropes and delivers his DDT. Ziggler gets up and Orton goes for the RKO, but Ziggler reverses. Orton attempts to roll up Ziggler, but Ziggler rolls through and pins Orton with a roll up and a handful of tights. Winner: Dolph Ziggler. After the match, the WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz makes his way to the commentary table. We go to a commercial.

We’re back from the commercial and we take a look at Daniel Bryan and Kane’s second anger management class. Harold gets up quickly when Kane walks in and switches places with a girl to get further away from Kane. The therapist asks everyone to show the group their anger collage. Bryan gets up and his is a piece of paper with “YES!” and “NO!” written all over it. The therapist asks Kane to share his collage and it is just a blank piece of paper. The therapist asks Kane if that’s how he feels inside. Kane throws the paper in the trash can and it lights on fire. Bryan calls him a teachers pet as the segment ends.

We take a look back at this past Friday’s Smackdown, where Cody Rhodes tried to remove Rey Mysterio’s mask until Sin Cara made the save. We see Mysterio and Sin Cara walking backstage and they are in tag team action next. We go to a commercial.

Match #2: Cody Rhodes and Tensai vs. Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara
Rhodes and Sin Cara start the match and Sin Cara takes him down early on. Rhodes backs into his corner and we go to a commercial break.
We’re back and Tensai slams Sin Cara into the corner. Tensai headbutts him down to the mat and tags in Rhodes. Rhodes comes in and stomps away on him and goes for the cover, but only gets a one count. Sin Cara tries to get to his corner, but Rhodes stops him and applies a submission in the middle of the ring. Sin Cara gets Rhodes’ shoulders down, but Rhodes kicks out at one and gains control back. Rhodes tosses him into the corner and tags in Tensai. Tensai takes Sin Cara down with a big clothesline and then slams him down to the mat. Tensai grabs Sin Cara’s neck and then tosses him into the corner, but Sin Cara comes back for a bit before Rhodes tags himself in. Sin Cara sends Rhodes into the corner and tags in Mysterio. Mysterio takes Rhodes down and comes off the top rope and plants Rhodes and gets a two count. Mysterio goes to kick Rhodes, but he ducks, and Mysterio keeps control. Tensai gets in the ring and tries to slam Mysterio, but Mysterio reverses and hits the 6-1-9 on Tensai. Sin Cara hits a missile dropkick on Tensai, which sends him to the outside. Rhodes slams Mysterio down and gets a two count on the cover. Mysterio comes back and connects with the 6-1-9 on Rhodes and Sin Cara comes off the top rope on top of Rhodes and gets the pin fall. Winners: Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio.

We go back to anger management. This time we see the therapist asking everyone to participate in a trusting activity. He asks Bryan and Kane to stand up. He tells Bryan to falls backwards and to let Kane catch him. Bryan says no, but then says he trusts Kane. Bryan falls back and Kane catches him. The therapist says he wants Bryan and Kane to now catch Harold. Harold falls back and Bryan and Kane move their arms and Harold falls to the floor. Bryan asks Kane is he knew he wasn’t going to catch him. Kane asks Bryan the same thing. Bryan says he thinks he finally understands Kane and the therapist says Harold needs medical attention as the segment ends.

Match #3: Champion vs. Champion Match: CM Punk vs. Sheamus
Before the match, Punk grabs a mic. Punk tells Sheamus that his hometown respects his decision. He says his hometown understands this match is nothing more than a WrestleMania main event. He says a lot of people here have taken the day off from work and they will respect his decision to do the same thing. Punk drops the mic and leaves the ring, holding the WWE Championship  high over his head. Sheamus grabs the mic and says Punk has just disrespected the crowd by walking away. We see Punk walking backstage and A.J. runs up to him. She tells him he can’t leave but he says he’s taking a personal day. He gets in a car and drives away as Matt Striker walks up and asks her what she is going to do about the main event. She asks him who he is and tells him to go tell Sheamus to stay in the ring and she will find him an opponent as we go to a commercial.

We’re back from the commercial and Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez are walking to the ring. They walk around the ring and go to the announce table. Jack Swagger’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

Match #4: Jack Swagger vs. Sheamus
They tie up and fight into the corner. Swagger sends Sheamus off the ropes, but Sheamus takes him down with a big shoulder block. Swagger backs Sheamus into the corner and drives his shoulder into Sheamus’ midsection. Sheamus comes back and takes Swagger down with a shoudler block from the top rope. Swagger keeps control and takes Sheamus down and gets a two count. Swagger pounds away on Sheamus in the corner and then tosses him into the other one and charges, but Sheamus gets his boot up. Sheamus goes for the high knee, but Swagger moves. Sheamus goes for White Noise, but Swagger slams him into the corner and splashes him for a two count. Sheamus comes back and applies the Texas Cloverleaf and Swagger taps out. Winner: Sheamus. After the match, Del Rio gets into the ring and takes Sheamus down. They brawl in the middle of the ring and Rodriguez gets into the ring. Sheamus gets rid of him and hits White Noise on Del Rio. Sheamus sets up for the Brogue Kick, but Del Rio moves and Sheamus hits Rodriguez. We go to a commercial.

Match #5: Eve Torres vs. Kaitlyn
They tie up and Kaitlyn takes Eve down and gets a one count on a cover attempt. Kaitlyn gets Eve in a headlock, but she sends Kaitlyn off the ropes. Eve takes Kaitlyn down and they brawl on the mat as the referee attempts to separate them. Eve extends her hand and Kaitlyn slaps it. Eve wrenches Kaitlyn’s arm and then slams her down to the mat. Eve gets Kaitlyn in a headlock and takes her down again and keeps the headlock applied. Kaitlyn fights out, but Eve takes her down again. Eve hits the neck breaker for the pin fall. Winner: Eve Torres. After the match, Eve checks on Kaitlyn and then goes to shake hands with Layla. Layla accepts, hesitantly, and Eve walks away celebrating.

We see Jack Swagger walking backstage and A.J. runs up to him. He says he is leaving and taking some extended time off. He says he is better than this and she begs him to stay and says everyone is leaving. He says he is sorry and walks away as we go to a commercial break.

We’re back in anger management again and the therapist says he is proud of Bryan and Kane. Bryan says the doctor has taught them so much and mocks Kane since he beat them. Kane says he can make it to where Bryan can’t leave the room. Harold tells them to take it easy and they both tell him to show up. They continue to argue and the doctor is talking to them. Kane grabs Bryan’s throat and the doctor yells at them and storms out.

We go back into the arena and he tells them that A.J. said it is up to the WWE Universe to decide whether Bryan and Kane will have a one-on-one match, compete as a tag team, or hug it out.

We go backstage and Matt Striker asks Del Rio how Ricardo is. David Otunga says for his client, there is no comment at this time. We go to a commercial.

We’re back and we hear part of the story of The Rock stopping some burglars from stealing stuff from the set of Fast 6.

Match #6: Jinder Mahal vs. Ryback
Ryback backs Mahal into the corner, but Mahal comes back and pounds away on Ryback. Ryback comes back and pounds Mahal down to the mat. Mahal comes back and dives off the top rope and gets a two count on Ryback. Mahal comes off the ropes, but Ryback catches him and slams him down to the mat. Ryback picks Mahal up and slams him on the mat again. Ryback backs into the corner and hits a huge clothesline on Mahal. Ryback picks Mahal up and hits him with Shell Shocked for the pin fall. Winner: Ryback.

We’re back and Matt Striker asks A.J. what she plans to do about the way things are falling apart on Raw. She tells Striker to tell Cena and Del Rio that their match is now a Falls Count Anywhere Match.

Daniel Bryan and Kane make their way to the ring and the poll results show that the WWE Universe wants them to hug it out. Bryan argues wiht the crowd and they go to shake hands, but Kane pulls away. They go to hug, but Bryan gives Kane a chest bump. The Miz explains the rules of a hug it out. They go to hug again, but they back away from each other again. Bryan finally hugs Kane, but Kane doesn’t hug him back. Kane hugs Bryan and the crowd cheers. The crowd chants “One More Hug!” The referee says they have to hug each other at the same time. After some hesitation, they finally hug and then shake hands. They slap each others shoulders over and over again and Bryan shoves Kane. Kane shoves him back. Bryan slaps Kane in the face and they begin to brawl. Kane kicks Bryan in the head and charges at Bryan, but Bryan pulls the ropes down and Kane goes to the outside. Kane slams Bryan into the barricade and the ring apron and they continue to brawl on the outside. Kane grabs a chair and hits Bryan with it. They get back into the ring and Kane choke slams Bryan. Kane grabs the chair again and puts it around Bryan’s neck. Kane goes to the top rope and more referees come down to stop him and Bryan gets up and hits Kane with the chair. Bryan gets out of the ring and goes to the back.

We see Santino Marella walking backstage and he will face Antonio Cesaro for the WWE United States Championship after the break.

Match #7: WWE United States Championship Match: Antonio Cesaro (c) (w/Aksana) vs. Santino Marella
Marella takes Cesaro down with a hip toss and goes for the Cobra right away, but Aksana gets on the apron. He puts the Corba away and goes for the Cobra on Cesaro, but can’t because the Cobra isn’t there. Cesaro takes control as Marella reaches for the Cobra again. Cesaro takes him down and stomps on the Cobra. Cesaro goes for a clothesline on Marella, but Marella ducks but Cesaro keeps control. Cesaro goes for another clothesline, but Marella ducks and Cesaro falls into the corner. Marella gets the Cobra and Cesaro gets sent to the outside. Cesaro comes back in and hits the Neutralizer for the pin fall. Winner and still WWE United States Champion: Antonio Cesaro. We go to a commercial.

Match #8: Heath Slater vs. Zack Ryder
Slater gets Ryder in a headlock and takes him down with a shoulder block. Ryder gets a quick pin attempt for a two count. Slater comes back and stomps away on Ryder, but Ryder comes back and gains control for a short instant. Slater tosses Ryder into the corner and takes him down to the mat and gets a two count. Slater drops a knee on Ryder for another two count. Slater gets Ryder in a headlock, but Ryder fights out before Slater elbows him back down to the mat. Ryder fights out, but Slater backs him into the corner and pounds away on Ryder. Slater charges, but Ryder gets his knees up. Ryder sends Slater into the corner and connects with the Broski Boot. Ryder goes for the Rough Ryder, but Slater counters. Ryder gets control back right away and hits the Rough Ryder for the pin fall. Winner: Zack Ryder. After the match, Vickie Guerrero comes out and calls A.J. out to the ring. Vickie calls for a chair so she can sit down and wait on A.J. We go to a commercial.

We’re back and Vickie Guerrero says A.J. overstepped her boundaries when she put Dolph Ziggler’s Money in the Bank Contract on the line two weeks ago and when she attacked Vickie last week on Raw. Vickie talks to the chair like A.J. is sitting in it. A.J. finally comes to the ring. A.J. says she was on the phone with the Board of Directors and she says that they said she can’t put her hands on a manager, Superstar, or anyone else ever again. She says they want her to apologize to Vickie. She says she is sorry. Vickie asks A.J. if she is apologizing for being an inept General Manager or is she apologizing to Vickie. Vickie demands an apology from A.J. A.J. says she is sorry. Vickie says if she is going to apologize, she needs to make it mean something. A.J. apologizes again and Vickie slaps her. A.J. goes to retaliate, but Vickie says she can’t touch her. Vickie slaps her again and laughs and skips up the ramp. A.J. throws the microphone down and kicks the chair and hits the mat with the chair over and over again and screams before tossing the chair out of the ring and onto the stage. A.J. breaks down in the ring. We go to a commercial.

Match #9: Falls Count Anywhere Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena
We’re back and Del Rio hits a back breaker on Cena and gets a two count. Del Rio stomps away on Cena in the corner and slams him down to the mat and gets another two count. Del Rio applies a chin lock, but Cena fights out. Cena kicks Del Rio and they begin to exchange right hands. They both go down in the center of the ring. They both get up and Del Rio hits a back stabber and gets a two count. Del Rio goes to the top rope and jumps off, but Cena reverses with a dropkick. Both men get up and Cena takes Del Rio down with a shoulder block and then a side slam. Cena hits the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and goes for the Attitude Adjustment, but Del Rio holds on and drapes Cena’s neck over the top rope. They go to the outside and Del Rio slams Cena into the steel steps. Del Rio jumps on Cena’s chest and stalks him around the ring. Cena comes back and clotheslines Del Rio from the steps into the barricade and gets a two count. Cena goes to clean off the announce table, but Del Rio connects with a kick to the back of Cena’s head and gets a two count. Del Rio kicks Cena again, but Cena comes back and goes for the AA, but Del Rio shoves him into the ring post. Del Rio grabs a chair and swings at Cena, but Cena moves and tosses Del Rio over the barricade. Cena grabs the steel steps by the announce table and slams Del Rio into the barricade again. Cena picks Del Rio up and walks to the steps. Cena climbs the steps and goes for the AA through the announce table, but Del Rio reverses and they both crash through the table. Del Rio goes for the cover, but Cena kicks out at two. Del Rio gets up first and tosses Cena into the ring. Del Rio grabs a microphone and talks to Cena while he stomps on him. He tells Cena that he is beneath him. Del Rio says he is going to break Cena’s arm and goes for the cross arm breaker, but Cena rolls through and applies the STF. Del Rio hits Cena with the microphone to break the hold. Del Rio charges at Cena, but he moves and Del Rio goes to the floor. They fight on the floor and go up the ramp and Del Rio suplexes Cena onto the ramp. Del Rio goes for the pin, but Cena kicks out at two. They get off the ramp and fight by Del Rio’s car. Cena slams Del Rio’s head on the edge of the stage and Cena looks at Del Rio’s car. Cena picks up a speaker, but Del Rio kicks Cena in the leg. They go backstage and continue to brawl. Cena shoves Del Rio into the interview area and stomps away on him. Del Rio kicks Cena in the midsection and goes for the cross arm breaker, but Cena delivers an AA onto some crates. CM Punk comes back and kicks Cena in the head. Punk tosses Del Rio onto Cena and gets the pin fall. Winner: Alberto Del Rio. After the match, Punk slams Cena onto the hood of his car and says, “Respect.” Punk grabs the WWE Championship and holds it high overhead and stares down at Cena and the car drives away and it’s PAUL HEYMAN driving the car as Raw comes to a close.
