All Japan makes pitch to bring in Ric Flair for tag match

Keiji Muto (The Great Muta) made a pitch to do a tag match with WWE hall of famer Ric Flair as his partner for the September 23rd All Japan Pro Wrestling show, but with the company in the state it is in financially, the sides couldn’t come to terms, as the most they were willing to offer for the fight was $15,000. This would have been the next major show after August 26th.

I can understand why Mutoh wanted Flair, because Flair had a history with AJPW, usually defending the NWA World title there, and their past history in WCW. But luckily, Mutoh understands AJPW’s situation, as despite stepping down as the president last year, he is still the owner.

WCW’s working relationship at that time was with NJPW.

Yes, Matt, but Mutoh and Flair did have a past history with each other in WCW. That’s what I’m referring to.
