Wrestling By The Numbers: Ivelisse ‘Sofia Cortez’ Velez‏

World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the release of diva Ivelisse ‘Sofia Cortez’ Velez. The 24-year-old Ponce Puerto Rico native first debuted in professional wrestling in 2005 after having been trained by Carlos Colon. She began her career spending her first 4-months competing in the World Wrestling Council under the name Sexy Juliette. She then competed for IWA Puerto Rico and a few independent company’s before being signed by World Wrestling Entertainment in November of 2011.

Ivelisse Velez first appeared on WWE television in March of 2011 as apart of season 5 of WWE Tough Enough where she was trained by Trish Stratus, Bill DeMott and Booker T.. She was eliminated from the competition due to injury but was signed by the company and assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling late last year. Competing as Sofia Cortez she had spent the past 10-months mostly in the developmental territory but had recently debuted on season six of WWE N.X.T..
