7/20 WWE house show results from Jackson, MS
Jul 21, 2012 - by Steve Gerweck
Brodus Clay d. Jack Swagger by pinfall (great opener, crowd into Brodus with post match dances with the kids)
Tensai d. Tyson Kidd by pinfall (squash match)
Leakee d. Curt Hawkins by pinfall (Hawkins drew heat on the mike insulting having to be in Jackson and wrestling a rookie)
Layla d. Beth Phoenix by pinfall to retain the Divas Title (lots of comedy spots here)
The Prime Time Players pinned R. Truth with Kofi Kingston to supposedly win the tag team titles, however, Ted Dibiase (back in his hometown arena) raced to the ring wearing an officials shirt and convinced the officials to DQ Prime Time. The officials reversed with Kofi & R. Truth keeping the belts. Prime Time and A.W. tried to take out Ted (whose home is in nearby Clinton), but the tag champs nailed them and then pinned them for the double win. Good mike work by A.W. during the entire match drawing lots of heat from the crowd.
Dolph Ziggler d. Zack Ryder by pinfall (Dolph did the old take the padding off the turnbuckle route as Zack knocked himself out on the exposed metal…crowd was dead, dead for this one)
Santino Marella d. The Miz to retain the U.S. title During the match, the top ring rope accidentally collapsed and the two had to resort to a fist fight in the center of the ring. Marella won using the cobra and got a hot crowd reaction. On the way back to the locker room, Marella made it a point to race around the ring and then up and down both sides of the aisles to shake hands with the fans, which gave him a huge reaction.
John Cena d. The Big Show using the attitude adjustment in the first steel cage match in Jackson, MS, in almost 2 decades plus since Mid South Wrestling was on the circuit. In a surprise, John Laurinitis appeared before the match as he was not advertised to be in Jackson. The fans, however, by text & twitter had voted that he be banned from ringside. When the announcer told Laurinitis he had to leave, he tried to jump Cena which gave the Big Show an early advantage in the match. There were several high spots including Big Show going to the top of a not-too-secure cage siding. After several teases about going out the cage door, Cena was able to lift Show up for the attitude adjustment and the win. Crowd was hot for Cena from start to finish. Post match, Laurinitis stormed the ring with a steel chair and nailed Cena in the stomach, but when he went for the head shot, Cena ducked and used the attitude adjustment to send the crowd home happy.
