Wrestling By The Numbers: Kenny ‘King’ Layne
Ring Of Honor Wrestling announced via press release it has severed all ties with reigning ROH Tag-Team Champion Kenny ‘King’ Layne. The 30-year-old Queens New York native had been working on a handshake agreement with the company after they were unable to come to terms on a new contract when his expired back on June 24th. Layne surprisingly showed up on TNA Impact Wrestling this week prompting ROH to announce the firing of their current tag-team champion. Ring Of Honor is claiming this was a breach of his verbal contract while Kenny Layne is claiming he declined to sign a contract extension and lived up to his verbal agreement.
Kenny Layne has been in professional wrestling for the past 10-years after making his debut back in 2002. He was trained by a combination of Nick Bockwinkel, Scott Casey, Gary Mills, Al Snow, Hardcore Holly Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Ivory. After having a standout career playing college football he joined season two of WWE Tough Enough where he finished as one of the top 4 finalists. He then worked for numerous independent organizations before joining TNA Wrestling as an enhancement talent for 8-months from 2005-2006. He then spent time working in Full Impact Pro before joining Ring Of Honor.
