7/3/12 Super Smackdown: The Great American Bash Report

We open up and see various Superstars and Divas backstage partaking in a party. Teddy Long walks in and welcomes everybody to the show. He says if a mess gets made, don’t worry, because he has someone that has volunteered to clean it up. We see Eve looking pissed and dressed in a maid’s outfit. Santino Marella walks in and tries to light the grill, but Kane walks up and lights it when he raises and lowers his arms. We see the Smackdown opening video and we go into the arena, live, in Corpus Christi, Texas. We see that we will see a 20-Man Battle Royal tonight where the winner will be the GM of Smackdown next week and Michael Cole will interview A.J. later tonight.

Ricardo Rodriguez introduces Alberto Del Rio, who comes to the ring for a promo. He says he isn’t here to celebrate America, he is here to talk about Alberto Del Rio. He says he will beat Sheamus and send him back to Ireland, crying like a little girl. He says Sheamus is like the WWE Universe, a common peasant and a hooligan. Del Rio says don’t hate him because he is successful. He says the WWE Universe makes him sick. Del Rio says after Money in the Bank, Sheamus is going back to where he belongs. We says he wants to send the entire WWE Universe back where they belong. Del Rio tells fans to show him their papers. He calls security on one guy, but Sheamus comes out and attacks Del Rio. Ricardo tries to help, but Sheamus slams him on the stage and goes after Del Rio again. Ricardo comes back and distracts Sheamus, and Del Rio kicks him in the head. He lifts the hood on Del Rio’s car and tells Del Rio to slam Sheamus’ in it, and he repeatedly does. Referees finally make their way out and help Sheamus as we go to a commercial.

We’re back from the commercial and we see a replay of what just transpired between Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus. We go back live into the arena and the referees are just now getting Sheamus, who is busted open a little bit, to the back.

1. Mixed Tag Team Match: Aksana and Antonio Cesaro vs. Layla and The Great Khali
Cesaro and Khali start the match and Khali tosses Cesaro into the corner and chops him. Khali goes to kick Cesaro, but he moves and takes out Khali’s knee. Cesaro stomps on Khali in the corner, but gloats and Khali turns the tables and chops Cesaro again. Khali slams him down, but Cesaro gets to his corner and tags in Aksana. Layla comes in and takes down Aksana. Layla slaps Aksana on the butt and then jumps off the ropes with a cross body, but Cesaro breaks up the count. Khali sends Cesaro over the top rope and Layla hits Aksana with a neckbreaker for the pin fall. Winners: Layla and The Great Khali.

We go backstage and see Cody Rhodes run into Teddy Long. Long asks him what his problem is. Rhodes says the Board accepted his plea and he gets another Money in the Bank Qualifying Match. Teddy Long says it’s against Christian and walks away as Rhodes gets pissed. We go to a commercial.

Match #2: Money in the Bank Qualifying Match: Christian vs. Cody Rhodes
They tie up and Rhodes gets Christian in a headlock. Christian shoots him off the ropes, but Rhodes takes him down with a shoulder block. Rhodes takes down Christian again and gets a two count. Christian hits Rhodes with some elbows and launches him into the corner, but Rhodes counters with a boot to the face. Rhodes connects with a kick to Christian’s head and goes for a cover, but Christian kicks out at two. Rhodes looks up at the briefcase as we go to a commercial. We’re Back and Rhodes has Christian’s arm wrenched behind his back. Christian fights out, but Rhodes slams him to the mat and gets a two count. Rhodes stomps away on Christian in the corner and takes him up top. Christian fights back and hits a dropkick from the top rope. Christian takes Rhodes down and then hits an uppercut on Rhodes and then another dropkick. Christian goes up top and hits a cross-body for a two count. Rhodes kicks Christian in the midsection and then goes for the Alabama Slam, but Christian rolls through for a two count. Christian charges, but Rhodes moves and Christian hits the ring post. Rhodes rolls him up for a two count. Rhgoes to uncover the turnbuckle, but the referee catches him and Christian slams him down for two. Christian goes for the Killswitch, but Rhodes reverses into the Cross Rhodes for the pin fall. Winner and Money in the Bank Qualifier: Cody Rhodes.

We go backstage to the party and Zack Ryder asks Teddy if he can take over the DJ booth. Heath Slater walks up and says nobody wants to hear Ryder as the DJ. Slater begins singing and everyone boos him and throws food at him. Ryder asks, “Who wants to fist pump?” and everyone cheers. Brodus Clay, Naomi, and Cameron walk in and everyone dances with them as we go to a commercial.

Match #3: Money in the Bank Qualifying Match: Alex Riley vs. Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero)
Riley dropkicks Ziggler and gets a quick two count. Ziggler comes back and takes Riley down and gets a one count. Ziggler stomps away on Riley and drops an elbow for a two count. Ziggler puts Riley in a headlock, but Riley comes back and drops Ziggler to the mat. Ziggler charges Riley in the corner, but Riley takes him down and then hits a big spine-buster for a two count. Ziggler charges again, but Riley moves and rolls up Ziggler for a two count. Ziggler comes back and hits the Zig-Zag for the pin fall. Winner and Money in the Bank Qualifier: Dolph Ziggler.

We see that Michael Cole’s interview with A.J. is up next as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and Cole is standing in the ring and he invites A.J. out. He says he has been fair and balanced when he interviews her, unlike her, because she is not balanced as of late. We see what happened last night on Raw as the show came to a close, when A.J. shoved CM Punk onto Daniel Bryan and they went through a table. Cole asks A.J. what the hell she was thinking. A.J. says a lot of people have asked her that. Cole says he’ll answer it for her. He says she wasn’t thinking. He says the Board made a mistake when they made her the referee for Punk and Bryan’s match at Money in the Bank. He calls her a “troubled, little girl.” Cole asks her if she’s ever considered pursuing a real man. A man with power and influence. A former war correspondent, turned the Voice of the WWE. He says A.J. can have “all of this” and opens his jacket. Daniel Bryan’s music hits. He gets berated by Bryan. Bryan says he knows A.J. will be a great and knows she only meant for Punk to go through the table. Punk comes out and tells Cole to get out of the ring. Punk says he isn’t sweeping this under the rung and isn’t going to suck up to A.J. because she is the referee. He says he’s going to be blunt and very honest. He talks about being worried about her, and Bryan interrupt. He says Punk is full of it. He says Punk doesn’t care about A.J. and that he does. Bryan and Punk go to fight, but A.J. separates them. A.J. and Bryan make out in front of Punk and he turns to leave. A.J. follows him out of the ring and spins him around and makes out with him as well. A.J. skips away as Punk and Bryan have priceless reactions on their faces.

Match #4: Six-Man Tag Team Match: Camacho, Drew McIntyre, and Hunico vs. Jim Duggan, Santino Marella, and Sgt. Slaughter
Slaughter and Camacho start the match. Slaughter takes Camacho to his side of the ring and tags in Marella. Camacho tags in Hunico and Hunico flips over the ropes onto Santino for a two count. Hunico tags in McIntyre and floats over Marella for a two count. McIntyre gets Marella’s arm wrenched, but Marella fights out. McIntyre comes back and tries to slams Marella, but he gets away and tags in Duggan as McIntyre tags in Hunico. Duggan hits the clothesline on Hunico and gets a two count. Marella tosses McIntyre over the top rope as Slaughter does the same to Camacho. Duggan clotheslines Hunico as Marella tags in. Marella hits Hunico with The Coba for the pin fall. Winners: Santino Marella, Jim Duggan, & Sgt. Slaughter

We re-join the backstage party and R-Truth and Lil Jimmy are hanging out with  Long. Damien Sandow walks up and unplugs the sound system and everyone gets angry. Ryder gets in his face and calls him out. Sandow argues with him, and Ryder tells him to leave. Everyone chants for Ryder as Sandow attacks him. Ryder slams Sandow’s head into the table and goes to splash punch on him, but Sandow ducks and the punch goes all over Eve. Eve runs away crying as the music starts back up and we go to a commercial.

Match #5: Curt Hawkins (w/Tyler Reks) vs. Ryback
Hawkins slaps Ryback and he shoves him off the ropes. Hawkins gets on his back, but Ryback slams him down to the mat. Ryback hits a big clothesline and then Shell Shocked for the pin fall. Winner: Ryback.

We see a replay of what happened earlier between Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus and are informed that Sheamus will not compete in the Battle Royal tonight as we go to a commercial. Long  comes out and says he has had a great time and it’s time for the Battle Royal main event. Alberto Del Rio, Kane, Jack Swagger, and John Cena make their entrances before we go to a commercial.

Match #6: 20-Man “Great American Bash” Battle Royal (winner is the GM of Smackdown next week): Participants: Alberto Del Rio, Brodus Clay, CM Punk, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Ezekiel Jackson,  Heath Slater, Jack Swagger, John Cena, Justin Gabriel, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella Tensai, The Big Show, The Great Khali, Zack Ryder

The bell rings and it’s madness in the ring. Gabriel is eliminated by Show, as is Clay. Jackson is eliminated next and there is action in every part of the ring. Khali is eliminated by Tensai and Del Rio, among others. Sandow is eliminated by Ryder. Marella is eliminated by Rhodes. Rhodes and Kingston are eliminated by Show as we go to a commercial. We’re back and we’re down to 10 guys. Bryan and Punk square off in the middle of the ring and then Punk eliminates them both. Kane and Tensai square off and then Del Rio goes after Kane. Show and Kane grab each other’s throats, and Kane chokeslams Show first. Tensai comes after Kane and Del Rio joins in.

Cena takes over and takes every one down and eliminates Del Rio. AA to Kane and Tensai takes Cena down. Tensai tries to eliminate Cena, but Cena fights back and eliminates Tensai. Show eliminates Cena right after, and then Christian. Kane eliminates Ziggler and Show and the final two are Kane and Zack Ryder. Kane stomps on Ryder and gives him a big boot. Ryder takes control and hits the Broski Boot on Kane. Ryder goes foe the Rough Ryder, but Kane reverses. Kane charges at Ryder, but Ryder pulls the rope down and Kane is eliminated. Winner and Next Week’s Smackdown General Manager: Zack Ryder.
