Update on Steve Austin returning to the ring

As we have previously noted, WWE is hoping to book CM Punk vs. the returning “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 29 next April. However, Dave Meltzer noted yesterday that people in the know at WWE are saying that is more likely that the hall of famer will not return to the squared circle at Wrestlemania.

The fact that Dave Meltzer is god and always right…

Seriously, I’ve noticed Dave’s sort of been off the ball lately.

Uh, how about we deal with this topic when 2013 beings….? It’s 3 months after Wrestlemania and already this discussion is going on? A lot can happen in 2 months, let alone 9 months.

i hope austin does have one more big match left in him for wrestlemania 29, but i would also respect his decision if he didn’t, cuz too many people come back when theyre not able to perform at the level they did when they retired and it tends to tarnish their legacy a lil bit (i.e. flair and hogan).. id love love LOVE to see austin vs punk! but not if his injuries are gonna be too big a factor. hopefully austin still has one more can of whoop ass with cm punk’s name on it!

Because he knows CM Punk isn’t over enough to get put over by Stone Cold. You can’t be the Voice of the Voiceless and always be a sarcastic Midcarding WWE Champion

Stone Cold also said in an interview that he doesn’t want to play 2nd fiddle to the Rock and he will be at Wrestlemania also.

Plus he said Punk needs to step up his intensity which he’s not been doing lately so I don’t see Stone Cold at Wrestlemania in 2013.

Exactly ^ Austin is one of the smartest in terms of business and his own career. In my opinion, Punk isn’t ready to be put over by Austin. It took The Rock 3 main events to beat him and even then, people still remember Mania 15 and 17 more. Punk is one of the best but he’s no Stone Cold. And you gotta be a bigger star or at least on the same plane to beat him. IMO.

  9. Chris James says:

And isn’t The Rock wrestling at Mania 29? And Brock? Austin should wait..

  10. Philip says:

Aside from that, there is his health to consider. Only he knows what kind of shape his neck is really in. And I don’t think Austin would want to give up walking for “one more match.”
